Just did this. Thanks so much for the video. Seems there is no intensity difference whatever gear is selected? I was expecting a shutter hole to black out the gears not selected and only illuminate the active gear. Just seems to be the PRND + - display illumination only. I guess there is the always the dash display. I can confirm a T5 bulb in the Lancer CJ 2010.

Hi. Just a quick question. I am planning to buy a Lancer EX GT-A and I noticed that the square black part just above the letter 'P' on the gear shift is missing. Is it a major issue ? Or is it something that can be replaced easily ?
It is just a cover to protect an emergency method to unlock the shifter from P position (such as complete dead battery or no key to move the car on a recovery truck ... etc. you remove that cover and insert a screwdriver or pen to press a button, while you press on that button you move the shifter from P to N or any other position, and finally release the button), I don't know if is it easy to find a replacement, check in your local dealer or a scrap yard. Good Luck and double check if the previous owner was conservative on changing the CVT fluid or not, that is what you must focus on. CVT Fluid must be changed every 40 to 50 thousand KM.
2008 mitsubishi lancer, Shift gears letters will not light up. But the lights come on when I jiggle the shifter from side to side. That sounds like faulty resistors or something. I dont know
Check if there is pin corrosion. Replace the bulb, Bulb Specs: 12V 1.20W - (2721 Bulb) it is not easy to find around. You may can fit T5 LED as replacement but I didn't try it and I like to keep everything genuine.
