  • The JJ Pet Market is right next to the Chatuchak weekend market and the new MIXT Market Mall, is situated very close to BTS - Mo Chit. MRT -Chatuchak and bus terminals JJ Mall and Chatuchak park main road. Still the World's largest Pet market, recently in doubt with the creation of Bangkoks New Pet Market over in Ratchaburi 30 mins by MRT, and MIXT Mall offering air conditioned modern stores. Though they did not lure many businesses away. That said Covid has made a big impact on the current size with a lot of shops closed for good. That I am sure will change and now in 2023 still more than you can see in a full day!
The sheer numbers and varying sizes of fish is simply staggering. I've tried to give you a good cross section of the many different varieties for sale at the market. You will see a lot of fresh and salt water species plants corals etc over a number of episodes. First being the whole sale mid week market and the adjoining fourth Road. Then the indoor shops within the zones some 2,000 shops around 400 currently selling fish, equipment, food, medicines and many aquatic plants., even aquarium and cabinet construction (I can still remember the fumes from the lacquered wood):
The final section will be the pets feathers - fur - scales and exo-skeletons. Along the way please guess the most expensive pet, message below!
The sellers clearly love their pets and were proud to have me video in the many different shops within the market. Tho the video will show some distressed animals in the out door market, this was an unusually hot year! And if you are visiting the market get there soon as these outdoor sellers may pack up early of course heavy rain effects the 4th Road as well.
It is a lot of viewing that will give you a good insight to what is on offer here, also a look into how to get your purchases back to your own country. I found the language barrier can be over come with gestures and a calculator (and a Thai calendar) though now we have translating devices! The Thais have been extremely helpful and understanding, except for Rung Rung which I think is Cheyanne for “talking bollocks”.
If there is interest in seeing what else is “here” Let Me Know - the Famous weekend Tourist Market more knock offs than you can shake a stick at! When its not the week end market, it may be the worlds largest Garden Centre with flowers orchids, pond plants, full grown palms and ferns. Hard wood furniture and sculptures a constant flow of flat bed vehicles loading up and driving away! Not to forget the JJ Mall and MIXT Market.
I hope that you enjoyed watching this video. Note I am a visitor to Thailand, of the aged variety and trying to see as much of this beautiful country and film it. Please put any questions that you might have in the comments section below. I will do my best to answer as quickly and as accurately as possible. Don't forget to click like, subscribe and share with your friends. Apparently this is needed so an algorithm can work, still learning..
Chatuchak Park is one of the oldest public parks in Bangkok. It was built on the land formerly owned by the State Railway of Thailand (SRT), in dedication to former King Bhumibol, as I don't want to pronounce incorrectly King 22, on the occasion of his 4th cycle (48 years) birthday anniversary on December 5, 1975. The King thus granted the name "Chatuchak" (meaning 4 cycles) to the park. Inside the park, there are many varieties of trees and plants in the garden, sculptures from ASEAN countries, and an artificial lake runs along this thin and long park with numerous bridges crossing the lake, as well as inactive train museum. Chatuchak Park MRT Station, is in the park but underground, the park near here includes Wachirabenchathat park (March to April) every year is a time when pink pouis are blooming.
So why Jatujak market Jatujak Mall, not sure maybe another pronunciation, or way of spelling, basically the area from the Kamphaeng Phet 4th Road through the zones and up to JJ Mall is known by the Thais as JJ:
