NathanBrutal why simply perfect? Surpass the organic arm That's the goal that should be set Same with all cybernetics First restoration, then augmentation and finally synthetic evolution that leads to indefinite life extension
Or this channel is tailored more towards children (I've nothing against that - I mean, I'm here watching too) and they watch even more advanced channels? I suggest that you try *Vsauce, CGP Grey* and or even just *Kurzgesagt.* *_EDIT:_* Also; I don't know about you, but the constant and overdramatic music blasting most of the way through was a little annoying, and: _"My name is Watson" - "Brag, brag, brag"_ ...Pardon? Is that meant to make sense or be funny?
That guy at the end ...........wow! Hats 🎩 off. An example of the best of us. Media across the board need to feature people like this much more often instead of ramming war, famine, death, disaster etc. People lose hope because they swallow the media doom and gloom while not showing guys like this and the good that goes on. Well done that man 👍👍👍👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻
Star Wars is one of the reasons I studied mechanical engineering and one of the reasons I'm going to do my master's degree in biomed/mech engineering specifically to make robotic limbs. Thanks for making this an episode!
From what scientists are saying, the blaster bolts in Star Wars are made of plasma, the fourth form of matter. It would be quite hard to make a functioning blaster, but if they are able to make one. TL;DR: It’ll take time to make a blaster.
I can't imagine what it would be like to be born without, or lose a hand. You guys are making it possible for those people to somewhat replace those hands. God bless. And may the force be with you. :)
This is so AWESOME!!!!! The technology is advancing so fast it can be hard to keep up with it. So many applications for so many people. Thank you Anthony Carboni for the series. Keep up the good work sir!
freakin cool! especially that the one limb he pointed out cost only $150, thats getting into a very affordable price range for nearly anyone (you know, as much as anything medical is...)
Science and Star Wars is such a FUN show! Robotic limbs are totally the world's next generation for providing compelling opportunities to the sick and disabled.
LaChappelle's prosthetic hand is so beautiful. There is something so aesthetically pleasing and life-like about it, which is the crutch of prosthesis. And to think it's 1/1000 the cost of a standard current prosthetic hand!! The KISS rule in full effect.
Fascinating. It seems like most modern prosthesis work by muscle contraction. That enables someone without a limb to pick up and put down an object, but it's far from the natural way Luke's hand replacement behaved in the the Star Wars movies. I'm interested to see how far along researchers are with actual fully-functional replacement limbs.
You can watch and see it in movies like this awesome impossible surgery, but now, the collaboration of Robotics, Scientists and Bioengineers creates real-life robotic hands. They aren't science-fiction anymore. Now, They are science-facts. Still better advice is take care of yourself.
Before too long, people will consider the durability, adaptability, and ability to replace robotic limbs, it is inevitable that someone will choose to amputate healthy limbs to "upgrade" to the above features which may be more important to them. What if my legs could be adapted to have built in wheels so I could basically rollerskate at significant speed all day instead of walking? What if my arm could be replaced with a rotorhammer or chainsaw attachment? Strange, but I'd bet money many people would do it.
If I had a robotic limb, I wouldn't want it to look like a human arm, I would like it to look like a terminator arm, then I could have some fun with the public
On battle front 2 there should be infected on order 66 so there is darts Vader and everyone else is a Jedi and try to survive if they die they should become a clone and if u escape u win
I hope I never lose a limb, but if I do I hope it's in ten years when they perfect this stuff.
That would be awesome
Doubt it'll be perfected in just a mere 10 years. 40 years I might believe it, but not 10.
NathanBrutal lol same
NathanBrutal same
NathanBrutal why simply perfect?
Surpass the organic arm
That's the goal that should be set
Same with all cybernetics
First restoration, then augmentation and finally synthetic evolution that leads to indefinite life extension
If I lost a limb I would totally get an Anakin one.
Which one?
Ha!
Because he lost all four!
For me it would be edward elrics
arbknight12 what do u mean anakin only lost 1 limb did u mean darth vader?
fli cker
I was thinking more along the lines of what happened immediately after Obi-Wan acquired the “high ground”
Lone Diamond Productions Careful. Disney doesn't approve of talk regarding the prequels
Why does this channel have ONLY 2 million subscribers.
Come on...
This is star wars...
2kaSeth
I guess people like idiots who just vlog and sound like they have a speech restriction.
Or this channel is tailored more towards children (I've nothing against that - I mean, I'm here watching too) and they watch even more advanced channels? I suggest that you try *Vsauce, CGP Grey* and or even just *Kurzgesagt.*

For “ younger” users, hell I would want one no matter what age.
Sovietweasel around the age of a youngling
I really love Science and Star Wars. It's so interesting! :)
Yannick Zahn yeah
That guy at the end ...........wow! Hats 🎩 off. An example of the best of us. It’s a shame that they can’t replace heads yet Jango, Dooku and commander Gree
Those deathwatch members and pre vizla...
And that 41st elite corps trooper who was standing next to gree
we're most probably going to be able to that in the near future as some guy is already trying this and he had some succes
Anthony - I'm Anthony Carboni and joining me over on the wall...
Watson - Hello, my name is Watson.
Anthony - Brag, brag, brag...
Insurd lol true
WOW!!!!!! THOSE KIDS ARE SO BLESSED!!!!!!! GOD BLESS THOSE MECHANICS!!!!!!
Star Wars is one of the reasons I studied mechanical engineering and one of the reasons I'm going to do my master's degree in biomed/mech engineering specifically to make robotic limbs. Thanks for making this an episode!
First
Order will lose their starkiller base
Creative
Fred Svenlin thanks
That was really cool, Anthony was already getting the hand of it. Get it? The hand of it! I'll leave now.
Eh, I'll give you a pity clap
When are we going to see blasters?
Aric Lemont IKR!
From what scientists are saying, the blaster bolts in Star Wars are made of plasma, the fourth form of matter. It would be quite hard to make a functioning blaster, but if they are able to make one.
TL;DR: It’ll take time to make a blaster.
'WE CAN REBUILD THEM. 🌩💡'
I'm very glad that this show is able to use the built in audience and premise of star wars to educate people about important things.
I can't imagine what it would be like to be born without, or lose a hand. You guys are making it possible for those people to somewhat replace those hands. God bless. And may the force be with you. :)
That is amazing! We've come such a long way
don't underestimate the POWER !!!
This is so AWESOME!!!!! The technology is advancing so fast it can be hard to keep up with it. So many applications for so many people. Thank you Anthony Carboni for the series. Keep up the good work sir!
This is impressive. Most impressive.
would you choose to remove a healthy limb if you could replace it with something as good as Lukes?
Wait until this becomes a category on the hub.
Favorite series on TH-cam at the moment.
This is my favorite series on youtube
That is so amazing! I really have to hand it to you all for such a handy video. But seriously, great work and it was very interesting to watch!
So amazing how the world of star wars can come to life
freakin cool! especially that the one limb he pointed out cost only $150, thats getting into a very affordable price range for nearly anyone (you know, as much as anything medical is...)
"And now you're changing the world"
"Yeah!"
Lol I read this and they just said it
Still needs to be done more, but it's great science.
*I got to hand it to them*
this epsiode was very cool! 👌
Science and Star Wars is such a FUN show! Robotic limbs are totally the world's next generation for providing compelling opportunities to the sick and disabled.
This is great news thanks for the update if I ever loose a limb I hope this vid is still on TH-cam
If I ever lost a limb it would actually be awesome
Who's ready for Star Wars The Last Jedi
That’s tough
@@elitheOG yep, not that good of a film
These are awesome, but I would love longer episodes. These could easily be 10-20 minutes.
LaChappelle's prosthetic hand is so beautiful. There is something so aesthetically pleasing and life-like about it, which is the crutch of prosthesis. And to think it's 1/1000 the cost of a standard current prosthetic hand!! The KISS rule in full effect.
Good to see robotics work well tech at its best
Fascinating. It seems like most modern prosthesis work by muscle contraction. That enables someone without a limb to pick up and put down an object, but it's far from the natural way Luke's hand replacement behaved in the the Star Wars movies. I'm interested to see how far along researchers are with actual fully-functional replacement limbs.
Being able to control the amount of force applied seems so cool! Didnt know that was a thing yet
he's more machine now than man
twisted and evil
Nice video some very interesting inventions being accomplished.
This is amazing
Great video! I'll watch Luke's hand more closely in the Last Jedi.
i'd rather not like to need one, but those are real helpers.
Gentlemen, we can rebuild him. We have the technology... to create the world's first bionic man.
The FORCE is strong with these ✋✋✋✋✋✋
If I ever lose an arm or a leg, one of those robotic limbs will come in handy
So cool. I can't believe people gave this a thumbs down!
This is pretty awesome
Learned about Easton in class a few weeks ago
So Cool I enjoy some cyborg type characters like Luke Skywalker and Saw Gerrera
This may look clunky but it's a glimpse into the future of humanity if we choose to take control over our nature, evolution and fate
So cool!
JJ Abrams owes the star wars fans some limbs after Ep7!
ep8 is coming maybe more limbs then you can shake a stick at
Amazing we nearly came this far
Whenever i meet someone who is missing an arm or a leg i always ask which Star Wars movie they were in.
That's kinda mean
Lol, that's really daring hah
That’s rude.
I'd laugh if it was me
Lol
I hope that robot engineers make prosthetic arms with working wrists and individually move your fingers.
Wow that is cool 👍
The future is now, thanks to science!
When this is advanced enough to be fast and have feeling I will have my arms amputated so they could be replaced
Count Dooku
"This is just the beggining"
That is awesome
Wish they went more in depth, but still pretty cool
Very Nice
If i ever loose a limb, id rather just completely die.
Did you know the galatic basic under the science and star wars logo is translated to in the following order:
AI
Starships
Lightsabers
Droids
Boba
Fett
If I ever had arthritis on ankles or hands, cut them bad boys off and give me some robotic limbs
I don't want to lose a limb but if a I did a robot arm would be pretty cool
You can watch and see it in movies like this awesome impossible surgery, but now, the collaboration of Robotics, Scientists and Bioengineers creates real-life robotic hands. They aren't science-fiction anymore. Now, They are science-facts. Still better advice is take care of yourself.
Der Krieg der Sterne geht weiter. Krieg der Sterne: Das Imperium schlägt zurück. Aloha he from Germany. ;-)
I was actually born with only one hand and I can't wait to get a prosthetic arm
2:37 you can see a Lego Star Wars buildable figure up there
You feel it too don't you? This Phantom Pain.....
Anthony wears a german T-Shirt, very nice :) Greetings from Germany
You go up to younglings as a veteran Jedi master and tell them that one day.... you are going to lose a limb.
So cool stuff!
"AI
Starships
Lightsabers
Boka Fett." (yep, I can read aurebesh)
OpenBionics is an awesome company!
If I had a robotic limb, I wouldn't want it to look like a human arm, I would like it to look like a terminator arm, then I could have some fun with the public
SUP ANTHONY!
Why is Anthony wearing a german shirt of Empire strikes back?
PS: iam german ;)
Jo$h Me too ;) Was geht ab?
This is probably going to happen in the next couple years
If I loose a limb I wand one that is a functional and mechanical looking as Luke's in the sequel trilogy.
Ref: 3:30 Can you do a Jedi mind trick or force choke someone with that hand?
And Obi-wan cuts off the most amount of limbs.
He waers a german T-shirt. Nice Anthony!
Rey gets a robot arm confirmed
How do u even dislike this video???!
So cool
what is being used to create these limbs?
yeah!
*Sidious enters* I find my lack of limbs...disturbing *Force chokes the Emperor* ~THE END~
I'm guessing Kylo res will be the next one to get a robotic arm
ROBOTIC PEENOR
Bacta Treatment next?
On battle front 2 there should be infected on order 66 so there is darts Vader and everyone else is a Jedi and try to survive if they die they should become a clone and if u escape u win
I still wonder, when they can create a clone army why not growing a new boddypart?
Well, if a robot lost a limb would it get a human limb
Can't wait until Deus Ex becomes real
Thoroughly fascinating stuff! For those interested in artificial limbs, do Google Hugh Herr.
To be honest, this is from "The Six Million Dollar Man" television show than of Star Wars.
It's from both. :)
It really seems simple to create a robatic hand, but there is robatic legs already
