- www.video125.co.uk This is a Driver’s eye view filmed on board an international train service, TGV 9244 travelling from Milan to Paris through the Alps.
We board the TGV, 90 minutes into its journey at the brand new station of Turin Porta Susa, for a spectacular ride through the Alpine scenery. On-board cameras show the view of the road and the driver working with the Italian SCMT train speed control system.
The climb towards the Alpine backdrop is relentless, starting gently at first but then increasing to as steep as 1 in 33, close to the maximum for conventional adhesion based railway vehicles.
The summit is reached inside the 8 1/2 mile long Fréjus tunnel, the first through the Alps opened in 1871 at the time the longest tunnel in the world! With tunnel lighting, we can actually see it as the driver does. Once in France we continue with the Italian crew and Italian signalling until we reach Modane. Now the French crew takes over and we descend, at a similar rate to the climb, towards Chambery in South East France. En route we learn of France’s worst ever train disaster and see where 700 soldiers perished on board a runaway train. Filmed last summer, this feat of incredible engineering, coupled with the spectacular Alpine scenery, is a journey not to be missed.
Available on DVD and in high definition on Blu-ray disc. The narrator is Jonathan Kydd while on both the DVD and Blu-ray discs, commentary is also available in Italian, French and German. There is even the option of no commentary at all - just the sounds of the TGV Réseau. Running time is 123 minutes

I did this journey in 2001, we bought eurorail passes and travelled all over 6 countries for a month. It was the best thing i ever did and would encourage everyone to do the same. Summertime is obv best and the campsites in europe are first class. I remember getting on the train in wet damp Paris and as we travelled soith even in the train you could feel the heat building, by the time we got to lyon it was like a differnt country. Beautiful journey. Thanks guys.
If I hear it correctly, what's said is-- "Sadly... the four story building still serves as access to the platforms, a subway on the second floor linking to the out platform... ." The building looks to be in good repair and even somewhat charming.

This Just when my Whishlist, Well Done Video125.
TGV!!! Drivers view is awesome
Yes, contrary to what people say about Video 125 having to charge for viewing the full production, sadly nothing in the production process is free. We have had to pay train companies, crew, subsistence (hotels and travel etc) narrator (times 4) let alone the hours of editing. Some CAB RIDES are on TH-cam for free but they have very few costs - if any. I am sure you are only too aware of the costs of filming Al. We also use full broadcast gear and personnel of course.
That's another title on my wish list another fantastic title from what I've seen in the preview can't wait to get my hands on a hard copy of this I know it's available to download but I prefer the old way.

The TVM wouldn't be used on this stretch, as it's only used on the French LGV purpose-built high-speed lines, none of which would be used by this train between Turin and Chambery.

I couldn't understand why the moving graphic captions were so huge in the screen, blotting out the 'spectacular ride through the Alpine scenery' we were meant to be watching, until I got the end of the film. Oh, it's an advert for the DVD and in high definition on Blu-ray disc. Not the whole TGV Italy France Driver's eye view but a clip. I suppose 'PREVIEW' in the title gives us fair warning.

Just gone from st.malo to montpellier france, AMAZING,AMAZING,was impressed at smoothness (new word) SPEED ,WHEW that sscenery went past fast, remember this is what you get if your railway is owned,and run by the goverment (taxpayer) , also the price ,at 3 days before travel,was fair...DO NOT LET THE PRIVATE COMPANIES EVER GET THERE GRUBBY MASSIVE HANDS TO STEAL FROM THE USER,THATS YOU THE PUBLIC.... Yes, stupid video, could have been done with a standard train. TGV speed is actually: 320/330 Km/h (double deck trains) could be 350 but to expensive for rails wear
The TGV's only travel at high speed when they are on the TGV tracks, at either end of the journey they use older, slower lines. Since the line is through the Alps there is only one line to follow.

It's only a preview. The actual film is for you to enjoy. If you look at our download website (video125.tv) you will see plenty of reviews where customers have praised this and other productons. We know that many people only watch the trailers and never buy. Well I am afraid that if nobody ever bought, there would never be any more DEVs.
