Because when you’re in a phase you have a time limit. The time limit doesn’t show on the screen, but if the minute hand gets to the 60 minute mark (aka on 12) you have to redo the entire phase. So he cut it down so it wouldn’t be as long.

Also the boss is as simple as it can be. If you can't beat it, then you hae a skill issue.
