very harsh to say mccarthy can't play football anymore. he misjudged the ball thinking he'd be able to get to it. which was foolish but he actually made some very decent saves in the match. and the passing out from the back is from the manager and not really on mccarthy. sure he's probably not prem level but he's decent enough to be a backup keeper in a championship side. also Southampton was gifted the first goal first by vvd giving the ball away sloppily like they had done and 2nd by VAR giving a pen for foul that was outside the box.

He was moving in the direction of the ball , he just slightly misjudged the speed of the ball . He is actually a decent stopper .
