So glad you got back to hiking and posted a video as well as got back on the PCT. I’m Marmalade PCT class of 2019. Met you at trail day that year after breaking my ankle in the glacier peak wilderness and had to hike 75 miles out on it to Skykomish to get out of there but hike over. You couldn’t have been nicer to me and even let me take a pic with you. I don’t feel out on hikers but I began backpacking as well as found out about the PCT on the first day of 2016 and since I live in San Diego immediately started day and section hiking on it. I watched your thru hiking videos over and over just amazed at your ability to walk far, go light and make great videos to share your journey. I am bummed you deleted them all but it’s your channel to do whatever you want with. Thank you for inspiring me early on. Your passion for this trail resonated with me and now I am the exact same way. Basically a cheer leader for this magnificent trail. Now resigned to finishing the trail in large chunks but I will get there. Like you I will probably have to do it again lol… cheers and I hope you make more videos. Marmalade

I found you at the beginning of 2021 and have been scrounging the internet for any links to videos you left private which was basically only the Colorado FKT video. Seeing your High to Low video on your website was such a treat and seeing a new video makes me so excited to be around for a new era of John Z videos.

I remember saying “one of the biggest goals is to bring back the happiness we feel on trail and bring that back home with us” which seems like the hardest thing to do. I'll probably never like that you stopped making videos because you were one of maybe 3 people left who didn't make it some cheap TLC reality tv extravaganza, but I'll always respect it. Not everything needs to be an exposé. I'll always remember being stuck in my room in 2015 watching your first PCT series getting ready for my hike in 2016. Then I remember seeing your name in a register and being like "huh, it's the dude, with the videos and the legs". You didn't inspire me, I did that enough for myself, but your videos will always be a definitive part of my intro to trail life and I'll always associate the PCT with your initial video series.. plus like.. my own experience. Still, I can't think about the desert without that 'Long Drives Home' song playing in my head though, as well with a scattering of Cedar Skies pieces. I hope you continue to do the stuff that you dig and that your legs still do the leg stuff, whether or not it's a public affair dudearoo.
WOOHOOOO! I can't tell you the excitement I felt when a video from you popped up. I recently went to your channel because I hadn't seen anything from you in so long. I was so disappointed to see your videos had been removed. I am a longtime fan and LOVED videos you have posted in the past. So glad to see you are still out there on the trails.
