@@deadeyecpt.7765 You're wrong, Carabinieri have always been part of the army and at the same time standard police and they were THE ONLY police forces so who else could arrest a soldier? I had the privilege and honor to serve in Folgore Brigade in 1983: 2nd Paratroopers Infantry Battalion "Tarquinia”, 6th company, now 187th Paratroopers Regiment "Folgore". You do not become a paratrooper, you borne paratrooper. Once you discover it, you will be paratrooper for the rest of your life. Dedication and honor are a lifestyle, you have it, or you don’t. So, this video only reflects the training and the values of Folgore paratroopers. Good job boys! Beside I was young, it has been a fantastic period of my life full of mutual respect between all the guys were there. Folgore! …always.
This must be a great situation to be Italian. Gun fire going off and your still fully capable of giving specific directions by talking with both your mouth and hands at the same time.

Italian paratroopers, in this case, are helping US convoy ambushed by talibans. Us convoy was unable to escape for two reasons: damaged vehicles and low ammo reserve. Italian airborn forces (Folgore) helped them to leave the red zone, supporting with some linces and aw129 mangusta attack helicopter.
Those were from the 183rd airborne regiment "nembo". We weren't and aren't considered neither SF nor SOF. Currently the whole of the airborne brigade "Folgore" is considered conventional forces. I was there at the time of recording, we didn't need anything special to do our job.

Please do not judge the Italian army on the 2nd World War! Both my Grandfather's where in the Italian army in the 1st World War and they fought bravely at the battle of Caporetto. My Father and his brothers, 4 brothers where in the British army in the 2nd World War, and they too fought bravely. Mussolini was a disaster for Italy, he should have stayed with his allies. The Italian army was lead by bad officers and let down badly. Italian soldiers were and are some of the finest fighting men you will ever come across. They have some great regiments in the Italian military. The Italian army of today is one of the finest. Those Italian troops showed how brave they are and what credit to the Italian nation they are. Proud to be British/Italian. Forza Italia per sempre! 🇮🇹🇮🇹🇮🇹🇮🇹🇮🇹🇮🇹❤❤❤❤
I'm surprised that many people who have never been in the military talking about the stereotypical Italian soldiers and how cowardly they are supposed to be. It makes a change from the normal B/S seen in comments about the Italian forces.
The Italian soldiers are among the best in the world, no matter in which world wars they fought, they always fought to the end and never gave up at the end with the bayonet. No matter in which battles they never gave up. EL ALAMEIN, DIVISION FOLGORE, 🇮🇹⚔️🇬🇧 Between Oct. 23 and Oct. 28, in 5 days of fighting, the Folgore Division lost about 40 officers and more than 600 non-commissioned officers, graduates, and paratroopers, either fallen or wounded. Out of 12 commanders on the line, 8 were dead and 2 wounded. In front of their positions the British, vastly superior in men, means and materials, had lost no less than 110 tanks and an unspecified number of Bren Carriers and armored vehicles, in addition to 1,700 men including fallen, seriously wounded and missing and about 200 prisoners. Now imagine if the Italians had had good tanks and had come in the same numbers as the English, what do you think would have happened to the English - they would have blown the English away. Everything else, is a figment of imagination, on a par with Rommel's famous and never uttered phrase "The German soldier has astonished the world, the Italian bersagliere has astonished the German soldier" or the nonexistent Soviet war bulletin 630 "Only the Italian Alpine Army Corps must consider itself undefeated on Russian soil." At El-Alamein, during several engagements, the Italian paratroopers either managed to resist the attacks on them or, when the Allied forces succeeded in completely wiping out the first line of Folgore outposts, reformed again, mostly with counterattacks. The main Allied attack during the battle was in the northern part of the Axis line. However, the four divisions attacking the Folgore positions in the south had also been given breakthrough objectives. As the 7th Panzer Division had been instructed to spare its tanks, its attacks were broken off after the bloody fighting on the night of October 24-25. That night alone, 31 Allied tanks were destroyed or damaged. [15] At the end of the Battle of El Alamein, Harry Zinder of Time magazine noted that the Italian paratroopers fought better than expected, commenting, "In the south, the famous Folgore paratrooper division fought to the last round." Ammunition." The FOLGORE destroyed 31 tanks in one night with their bare hands 🔥🇮🇹💪🏻 "The last survivors of the Thunderbolt (FOLGORE) were picked up lifeless in the desert. The Thunderbolt fell with weapons drawn. No one surrendered. No one was disarmed." (BBC Dec. 3, 1942) The other countries are jealous of Italy because Italy simply has everything and is also a human being 😉🇮🇹🔥There are many more heroic stories of the Italian army that never gave up and always tried to do its best.
Well put, Alpini never broke always stood at the Front line in Russia & same with para ( Folgore) at El Alamein . Italian troops at all fronts involved Yugoslavia ( Bosnia) & Greece never gave out... just bad management logistics supplies anything with support, and pessimists on the home front.
Dont forget Ariete harmoured division...they fought till the last man...famous sentence of last bullettin...Ariete tanks surrounded, Ariete tanks are fighting till the end.

Onore e Rispetto per le forze armate Italiane.Siamo orgogliosi di voi .🇮🇹
1:12 the best part the bullet whistle during the commander's orders and no one cares
The Italian soldiers are among the best in the world, no matter in which world wars they fought, they always fought to the end and never gave up at the end with the bayonet. No matter in which battles they never gave up.
EL ALAMEIN, DIVISION FOLGORE,
🇮🇹⚔️🇬🇧
Between Oct.
Everything else, is a figment of imagination, on a par with Rommel's famous and never uttered phrase "The German soldier has astonished the world, the Italian bersagliere has astonished the German soldier" or the nonexistent Soviet war bulletin 630 "Only the Italian Alpine Army Corps must consider itself undefeated on Russian soil."
At El-Alamein, during several engagements, the Italian paratroopers either managed to resist the attacks on them or, when the Allied forces succeeded in completely wiping out the first line of Folgore outposts, reformed again, mostly with counterattacks. [15] At the end of the Battle of El Alamein, Harry Zinder of Time magazine noted that the Italian paratroopers fought better than expected, commenting, "In the south, the famous Folgore paratrooper division fought to the last round." Ammunition." The FOLGORE destroyed 31 tanks in one night with their bare hands 🔥🇮🇹💪🏻
"The last survivors of the Thunderbolt (FOLGORE) were picked up lifeless in the desert. The Thunderbolt fell with weapons drawn. No one surrendered. No one was disarmed."
(BBC Dec. 3, 1942)
The other countries are jealous of Italy because Italy simply has everything and is also a human being 😉🇮🇹🔥There are many more heroic stories of the Italian army that never gave up and always tried to do its best.
Good analysis of historical facts. Just a note, the translation for Folgore is Lightning, not Thunderbolt.
