What I would have done is, have a team Godzilla vs team Kong while both monsters are going at it on the mainland with fully/semi destructable environments. Each team's objective is to ultimately take down the opposing monster's health(Tanks, planes, etc) all while being at their mercy and trying not to get crushed or atomic breathed in the process. Once that monster's health hits zero, you get a sweet fatality scene from the winning team's monster. That's what I would have done at least.

Japan has a problem with games making their massive-sized characters(mecha or kaiju types) at a 1:1 scale. Same reason why past Gundam or Zoids games always shrink them down by at least 30%. It's stupid and annoying as Hell.
It looks like they took the 2014 model of Godzilla from Godzilla PS4 the game and buffed him up a bit. Kong's model is more detailed. But! They got Godzilla's sfx perfect. Chef's kiss
