here's the funny thing about this song though: "Du Hast" is German for "You have".
the whole line "du hast mich gefragt" surmounts to "you have asked me".
now, taken out of context and just by phonetics "du hast mich" becomes "du hasst mich" (double s), which does mean "you hate me".
the pun goes full circle when you realize that the whole verse is about the box standard marriage vows (the "will you ... until death do us part" thingy) which is answered with "no" or "i did not answer" respectively.
just a little trivia from your friendly neighborhood German

Btw: Tills movement is called "Till Hammer" Several years ago Till had some knee injuries. During some concerts his kneecap would hop out its place. He then hit it a few times to get it back into place. As it looked great, this move became his favorite move.

It's physically impossible to refrain from headbanging during this song. There's just something about the beat, it gets right into your nervous system, your neck muscles start moving on their own, and you're headbanging. It's impossible to resist.

I absolutely love love love this guys version of the 'Till Hammer' (Google or TH-cam search). Paris was the first time the band completely handed control over to the director in terms of the finished product. Jonas Åkerlund. He did a freaking phenomenal job, and has directed quite a few official videos, including one of my personal favourites, Ich Tu Dir Weh, which as an aside, I think should be Mr. Rock n Rolls next reaction.

You're right, it must be an amazing, insane adrenaline rush. I once saw an interview with Kruspe, who is one of the guitarists and founders of the band who was talking about how he actually fell into pretty bad depression between tours when suddenly that insane feeling of thousands of people chanting your songs vanishes and you're left all by yourself.
I guess it's the classic "rockstar-problem" that all this HUGE stuff kind of steamrolls you and it's hard to deal with in certain ways.

Did you know that the knee banging was originally not by choice? Till had a knee injury and sometimes his knee joint would pop out on stage due to the stage shenanigans and he would have to hammer it back in place on stage. It became so iconic however, that even when his knee was fine again he made it part of his stage show.

I think the entire band has been trained and certified in the use of pyrotechnics, which is why they are able to utilize crazy flames and explosions. I think one show Till Lindemann (the singer) came out wearing a rig that attached two flamethrowers to his arms that he shot out over the audience lol

I will never get tired of reaction videos about Rammstein ... they are indeed a a galaxy of their own in terms of stagemanship.
I've seen several Metallica reactions in your videos, but I did not notice the "Live in Moscow" version of Enter Sandman in there ...
But since you talked about crowd control and adrelin, I'll just say this : at the "Monsters of Rock Tour" in Moscow in 1991, just before the USSR fell completely apart and after the Iron Curtain fell, the very first massive FREE concert was organised in Moscow, with Metallica, AD/DC, and a few other I've forgotten.
The official stopped counting the people coming to get a bracelet after delivering more than ONE MILLION POINT FIVE bracelet.
More than 30 years later, it still holds the Guiness' World Record for "Largest Live Performance" ever, try to find that video and prepare to be shocked ... even the bands that performed there could not believe how massive the crowd was !

Tills movement is called "Till Hammer" - Early in the band´s career Till had some knee injuries and many surgeries due to taht. However, during some concerts his kneecap would disclocate. He then hit it a few times to get it back into place. He then was told that it looked great and should continue doing it even after his knee was heeled - hence this became his signature movement

Imgaine 80 years after the war, there is a german band in Paris and all french people singing german. The power of music. The title is a German word game. Written " du hast = you have, du hasst = you hate. Spoken it sounds the same or similar. It only makes sense in context.

    Great, entertaining reaction as always!!
A little linguistic fun fact on the title because you mentioned 'You hate me' in the end (if you like):
"Du hast" (one s) = you have, while "Du hasSt" = you hate. But! Both are pronounced the same, which is what the song is playing with:
The repeated "Du has(s)t" standing on its own would usually be heard(?) as "you hate", "Du has(s)t mich" as "you hate me" because of how it's emphasized. Only the complete phrase "Du hast mich gefragt und ich hab' nichts gesagt" (and how the title is written ofc) shows that the final, real meaning is "you have" in that case. That is because the full line means (literal translation): "you have asked me and I have said nothing".
WHICH IS what makes these lyrics super awesome imo!! The wordplay doesn't work quite as well in English, but what you'd HEAR with
"Du... Du has(s)t... Du has(s)t mich...
Du hast mich gefragt (...) Du hast mich gefragt... und ich hab's nichts gesagt!"
    is
"You... You hate... You hate me...
You have asked me... (...) You have asked me... and I have said nothing!"
You would start listening and think "Oh no, that person hates him...", while coming to the conclusion "Oh no, they asked hi something (e.g. if he's like to marry them would be something that firs in the linguistic context), but he didn't even answer...", which ALSO are two things that could actually be connected. ;D
Idk if you wanted to read an essay on German language vs. lyrics, but I thought as much as you enjoy Rammstein and are used to the importance of lyrics thanks to Nightwish, maybe this would be interesting for you in a way. :)

Thank you for the interpretation, Seriously. I very much enjoy most of their music. Ill admitt, i am a bit ignorant to their lyrics and have often questioned them, but the instrumental rhythms are what engages me. Ive heard that some of their lyrics in other songs are quite dark in nature. That being said, i dont know one way or another...but for whatever reason, the instrumental art within its entirety is what appeals to me. Anyhow, at some point, I may look further in to the interpretion of their other songs.

      @@KunuMcGruder You're welcome :)
Even for me it's mostly the music which appeals to me, honestly. Because what you've heard is true, many of their lyrics are really dark and can even get disturbing in some cases or other. I'm not as deep into their music so I don't know everything by heart bud I think there even was one that included(?) cannibalism...? Be aware of the fact you might stumble upon some rather explicit content if you choose to dig more into that part of their music.
Nevertheless, there sure always is room of interpretation and considering Rammstein's popularity, I bet there are some cool fanmade analysis of their lyrics floating around in the internet already. :)

I think this music (which I love!) works like this: build up energy to the climax and then release it with a BOOOOOOOOMMMM!
