Feel bad for these kids. No wonder they grow up with challenges when their parents probably shouldn't have had kids to begin with. Giving the guardianship of your children to a lady your uncle dated for a few years. Come on....

Both of our separated parents stole money from my older sister and me. We had to find clever places to hide our money and it would still disappear from time to time. My mother also ruined my credit after forcing me to switch jobs and run up my credit card on the threat of being kicked out after taking the majority of my checks for bills so I couldn't save up enough for a down payment for an apartment. I thankfully got away and now I have nothing to do with either of them.

I think I understand why Judge Judy didn’t say anything about the flip flops based on this first clip, it seems like the young lady may have moved around a lot and(not trying to make excuses) but maybe that’s all she had at the moment or available and I know some would say a regular pair of shoes doesn’t cost that much but you just never know where people are financially or mentally so maybe JJ didn’t want to add on to this young lady’s already unstable living situation- but that’s just my thought

This is exactly why my husband I have a Will that states if we are to die before our son turns 18 all assets and life insurance after funeral expenses will be put into a trust until he turns 18. A trustee will alot $400 a month to contribute to food/bills. He can request extra money, there is a clause in there that says if he's of age he can receive extra money for a car or sports only if he has a part time job. We also put in there we would prefer him to go to a year round boys school in Florida and would alot the fees for that if an opening was available. That's the #1 option, #2 would be extended family( my aunt on my mom's side that is married and I know has values)
But basically it's sad but I don't trust that my family or my husband's family wouldn't take him in to rob him blind while probably encouraging him to drink and smoke weed/cigarettes. We both came from poverty and broken homes. We broke the cycle with a lot of sacrifice and hard work, which we want to pass on to our son not only financially but morals and the value of hard work as well. So we can break the seemingly generational curse on both of our families.
Considering his mom tried to rob me at 5 months pregnant when we had all of $350 to our name and a beat up car and I was completely distraught because he had just gotten arrested and I had no clue what to do...and when she was unsuccessful in Taking all of our money and our car she resorted to threats and wished death on unborn child (Even though she didn't even raise my husband, he was in foster care his whole life. I met him when I was 13 and hadn't met his mom until I was 20.)
And my dad turned a blind eye to his second wife (not my mom) abusing me to the point that social services was called multiple times until I was 12 and a GAL finally listened to me and let me go stay with my mom. He also encouraged me and my brother to drink and smoke in our teens. I have mended my relationship with him now, but that doesn't mean I'd ever trust him to raise my son.
My mom's wasn't much better, other then the fact I wasn't being physically abused but she passed away a few years ago. And my husband's dad is a deadbeat drug addict that was in federal prison until he was 16, and never did anything for him, has abused every woman he's ever been with, and abandoned his little brother who is now 13 and living with his grandma who is 73. We contribute more to his support then either of his parents, as his dad ran off from rehab with some chick and is now strung out in Kentucky only calling to ask for money and then threaten to come take his little brother away when hes told no and his little brothers mom is an exprostitue and also a drug addict..
We obviously don't plan on dying anytime soon but I can say with absolute conviction that I would never want any of my or my husband's immediate family to have control over any of my son's assets much less custody of him giving them control of his life. I would literally roll over in my grave. As of right now he's a good kid who works out on his own because he plays sports and takes them seriously, he gets good grades, has good manners, and is a leader not a follower with a big heart. (He just started school, he's been attending the school since 1st grade so 5 years and he's friends with everyone. There was a new boy in his class who doesn't speak English well and was sitting alone. He just told me he made a new friend, but his teacher emailed me to say that he was the only kid to go introduce himself and he introduced him to all the other boys so he'd have friends. When his teacher tried to give him an eagle which is something they give kids who do good deeds then names are picked weekly for prizes. He told her no, that it wasn't a good deed, it was just being a good person and he didn't want to be rewarded for something he should do anyway) and that's because of the hard work my husband and I put in to build a strong foundation for him. I would be heart broken to see it completely undone by one of our derranged family members.
My rant is over, it's just so sad. If this girls parents had actually been parents she wouldn't have ever been in this situation
