    Watching this again. As a gamer one thing I took away is the importance to be able to move up your own artillery. Thus tanks or self propelled guns actually make up for horses not being able to cross the crushed wire. Without your own guns forward the enemy has range on you and can pound you back. With at least some guns moved up you could counter-battery the enemy counter attack giving more time for other heavier guns to be repositioned.

    Tumplines! They were a traditional device, originally used by Canadian Indians & Métis peoples there for enabling the carrying of large loads on their backs over long distances, manually (on foot) by using leather-straps attached to & placed across the forehead to pull such loads!
