- I spoke with Postmaster DeJoy about the unacceptable mail delays my constituents are facing. Instead of trying to provide solutions, he was angry, defensive & could only offer excuses.
On the bright side, Democrats and Republicans in Congress finally agree on something!

DeJoy should never have been confirmed as Postmaster General. He needs to be replaced.
The orange turd got him in during his time in Office and knew he would be difficult to replace & screw things up with in the post office. 😡

There are times I go a week without getting any mail. And I live in town. Have gotten mail after 8 pm before. I too want our PO back. The workers are spread too thin, while Jackass DeJoy makes millions.

My senator, Jon Ossoff is part of this nonsense over DeJoy, which seems largely performative. The real question is why did Biden keep him, something is going on behind the scenes in DC that we aren't privy to, our government works overtime to fund overseas wars, does nothing for us.

I do admire certain changes made since the current postmaster came in, like being able to buy supplies and equipment, a photocopy machine, on-site. People there are working hard. If he came in with the aim of killing the USPS maybe he got distracted by being able to find economies and efficiencies the could achieve instead. As for me I am totally focussed on postal savings accounts, after seeing what I and the unbanked are facing. To make this bitter pill tolerable to the banks, maybe it could be set up to pay no interest, have no minimum balance, but, instead, a maximum balance of triple the USA median annual income earned. not dividends or interest, and increase the maximum balance allowed by the annual inflation percentage calculated every year.
Getting rid of DeJoy is not about politics - it's about business!

His role was to get the public to give up on the USPS. The USPS has told people not to mail checks because it's not secure. He made it this way. To lower the on-time scores so he doesn't look bad right before he breaks it up for him and friends to take it private. No time before has the rates have gone so often.
Trump enjoys spreading chaos--and he found a kindred spirit in DeJoy. Throw the SOB in Rykers for how he's destroyed our postal system.
@dalehallam2578 you clearly haven't kept up with how the usps works. They were telling us years ago not to mail cash, then it was checks. Even the post office stopped giving out paper payroll checks. It was only direct deposit. The standards have been lowered regularly ever since the automation push in the 90's. They have been cutting personnel and equipment right along with the automation push. They have been consolidating offices and plants also. The last big reorganization was under carvin marvin Runyon. Back before dejoy came in, there was a processing plant back east that ran mail around the city in semis. Inspectors were coming in so they loaded all of the delayed mail in trucks and circled the city until the Inspectors left.
None of this crap is new. It is just recycled games that they have played for decades.

Pulling mail sorting machines to delay mail in ballots should have landed him in jail.
That was in the works long before he started. Postal management regularly moves and changes out machines. They come up with some new wonder machine that isn't ready on schedule, costs more than planned, and isn't as productive as promised. It has been newer and bigger automation machines since the 90's and the service standards were reduced to accommodate them. In the 80's the standard was a first class letter would go 200 miles overnight. First round of automation wasn't working so it was reduced to 100 miles. Now it is 2 days for across town.
@@fredbecker607 I live in a small town in Western North Carolina. Once upon a time, the postal employees would simply put letters being delivered locally into the appropriate box. Now the letter goes to Greenville, SC, before being returned to be delivered.
It was just unfortunate for De Joy that he chose to pull the machines during a mail in rush during an important election. It also didn't help that he was spearheading an effort to privatize the USPS.

And in ours, he wants to go to a SINGLE mail-sorting facilty, so a letter from one town to another, literally 3-4 miles, will wind up getting shipped long-distance, perhaps a couple hundred miles, just to be returned to near where it started!

The post office was taken off the federal budget back in 68. It was supposed to rely only on revenue from the mail. The cycle was set up on three years. First year make profit. Second year break even. Third year lose money. That model went out the window during Obama and they went to a price update every may. People have complained every time there was a price increase.
Remove and replace him. Then reform and rebuild the post office system.

We are in SD and our mail is a joke, no mail is allowed to be sorted in our PO it goes 200 miles east then back. Now we hear it will travel 600 miles then returned from Omaha. Some mail we hear is going to Fargo then back. When we get a snow storm we have no mail for a week or more. DeJoy is a nasty joke.

That didn't just start with dejoy. Way back in the 70's I tried to mail a letter and it went 90 miles one way for processing. Their only focus since the 90's has been automation. The machines keep getting bigger and more expensive. They then close down and consolidate to justify the expense. When that doesn't work, they reduce the service standard. In the 80's, the standard was 200 miles for one day delivery. Automation started and failed so they reduced the distance to 100 miles. More Automation and it was reduced to across town. Now even across town is not a one day standard.

Since I'm lucky if my mail shows up before 7:30 pm I'd say something stinks at the head of this fish...
They can't keep staff, on top of the delays. In 2013 they cut the starting pay from $22 an our down to $16 an our. As of today, over 10 years later, the starting pay is only $19. They claim poverty during wage discussions, but the Postal Service was never supposed to be profitable. It was always supposed to be an American service.

Mr. DeJoy is incorrect: his MAIN job is to deliver the mail, not to save money. Of course, if he can save a few bucks while delivering the mail, that's good, but delivering the mail on time is his actual job. The USPS is not a for profit business, it is a government service. Period.

There are fourteen companies that owe MASSIVE contracts with USPS to personal relationships they have with DeJoy from his prior work. He is actively crushing the productivity of the Federal mail program in order to justify outsourcing jobs to third parties.
Think about the results of his fantastic performance as the postmaster and what it will do to mail in ballots.
That's the entire reason he was appointed.

It took a week and a half to get a birthday card from Wisconsin to Texas for my 7 year old niece. I could have driven it there and back in that time.

On March 22nd, I got a thank-you phone call from a friend for our Christmas card, which had been postmarked December 21st and delivered that day. Though they shipped it to the far end of the state for sorting, and then all the way back up here again for delivery, the NET distance it traveled was just under 12 miles. I could have CRAWLED on my hands and knees and gotten it there faster!

It's outrageous how long the Priority Mail is taking! They say "2day", but it's been taking 5-6 days. What am I paying for??? I live in rural Colorado, have a home mail order business, and rely on usps for my livelihood.
If I send something from So. CO to N.M, it takes longer than sending from So.CO to New England. It's insane what Dejoy is doing!!

Newest issues with the post office: sent a letter from western NY to south Georgia...mailed it on April 7th. He received it on April 28th! Two years ago I had to pay a late fee on my taxes because my local mail carrier never delivered that particular piece of mail. One man having the power to intentionally disrupt services [paid for by tax $$] only indicates a severe lack of oversight by government elected to conduct the business of its citizens...DO YOUR JOB AND REPLACE THIS MAN!

I’ve worked with the “my job is to save money” type person before. You go to get a pencil and you have to go to them and they give you one pencil and severely question your need for two! This was never the type of job for him. He equates the job to his worth in life. Louis DeJoy has ruined the USPS in speed and efficiency. It takes 3 to for days to get any mail from Salt Lade City to Preston Idaho, a distance of 120 miles by road. By his closing of sorting centers, all mail now goes from Salt Lake City to Boise, a distance of 340 miles. Then from Boise to Preston, 303 miles. It used to take 1 day from Salt Lake City to Preston. Salt Lake to Pocatello, then Preston. Thanks Louie! A**40le!!

I work for the PO and people do hate it. We want to get our jobs done but DeJoy is cutting back hours in mail processing facilities. Sorry for the delay folks, but call your Congress person and your senator and tell them you want DeJoy out.

I scan my receipts and save them. In June of 2015, my PO box was $56 per year. In 2023 the same box was $166 per year. Almost three times as much. I cancelled it about $332 ago.
Now, USPS can STARVE.
