Outstanding video and professional knowledge of planting difficult bare root roses. This is an awesome display of how professional Rosarians operate!!!

I’m glad that you like it, filming in one take like this is hard work

Thank you for explaining the depth of the bud union Ben. It was quite confusing because the non-David Austin Roses had instructions of the bud union above the soil level the David Austin handbook says 2 inches below the soil level.

Your videos are of the highest quality on TH-cam and it is hard to believe you filmed them all by yourself with no assistance. I truly enjoy them. Thank you!

Hi Ben, Happy Easter to you!!! I’m currently catching up on all your great videos over the long weekend, hoping to glean as much information as l can!!
I planted out a rose I had grown from a cutting in a border about a year ago that I really need to move…Can I move it now, or should I leave until the dormant season?
    Have a great weekend
    All best
    Tim

The decision is also yours we’re coming to the very end of that particular season and here in the UK. It is particularly well advanced although the soil is very wet if you do move it proceed with caution and make sure that you continue to water it well, at least once a week with around 10 L of water until the end of the year.

@@the_gardenerben Hi Ben, Thanks very much for the speedy reply. I might just leave it until the dormant season, but I will heed your advice if I do!! Much appreciated. All the best Tim

The mycorrhizal additive is unnecessary unless you're planting into sterile soil - which it most likely isn't. A healthy soil (biome) has mycorrhizal fungi (spores) present that will colonize nearby roots.
Also, loosening up the bottom of the hole and mixing in organic matter while at the same time stressing a certain planting height is actually ironic. In time the soil will settle, the organic matter decompose and your rose (graft union) will end up lower than initially intended.
