I definitely think the "end" is on the horizon....I mean over two years of support so I can't really complain. However, I am really hoping for a Battlefront 3 to be announced for the next gen consoles, and it could contain almost everything from BF2, and then so much more. After the comeback that BF2 made, it would be a popular game as long as it added some of the features that people have requested such as ground to space combat, private matches, etc, as well as wider customization and more skins. I would also love a continuation to the campaign in some way (or a completely new one) and perhaps the return of Survival from BF 2015.

@Seb Reed BF1 (2015) was a lab test that did not work, BF2 is the propper version that still MAY die because of the epidemic outcomes within DICE's work over the game ;/ BF3: was never planned but that may or may not change, time will tell.
There’s so much still missing yet it definitely feels like the beginning of the end. I thought maybe with the last season of the clone wars they would integrate another clone wars update for the game but that doesn’t seem like it’s going to happen, especially now with Bens departure. All I can say is they done a terrific job turning the game round. Realistically the games content quantity now is how it should have been at launch.

If this really is the last community update besides bug fixes then i think it would be more likely to have BF 3 in 2021, 2022 at the latest. Usually with games like this as was seen with BF 2015 the game will stop updating, then wait a year and announce the new game. I think it would be a great new start for a BF3 on brand new next gen consoles

Had a random thought about the community calender being delayed. Perhaps there were events played like we have seen for skins, emotes etc added in the new update; and since the update and CT have been delayed, the calendar potentially containing content from the new update has been held back too?

Honestly I’m just happy the game has lasted as long as it did. The moment that the monetization system was fundamentally changed at launch should have been a strong hint to people regarding the level of live service support that would be offered to this game. Hopefully if they do a battlefront 3, they get the monetization right from the beginning.
My thoughts... they just sold the Celebration Edition at the end of the year. I don't think they'll end support this soon. I feel like that might appear a bit too much like a money grab and would tarnish the hard work they've been able to build back up. I'd expect a few more updates throughout the year, maybe one more big content drop as the last one. Using the phrase "BF2 is dead" is very strong -- even BF2015 isn't dead 5yrs later. BF2 will stay full of players for a while; we just won't get new content after some point.
I would prefer for EA to pull the plug on battlefront 2 and make a 3 because having all the extra funding and team working on a new game would probably be 10x greater than what it is right now
William Mcpherson well then you’re either blind or extremely lucky (or you only play offline). At least 10% of the times I use a force power it simply doesn’t work. Lightsaber hit Registration is also just screwed up. At one time you hit enemies who are 20 feet above you in the air and at other times you can’t even hit someone who is right in front of you.
#Dejiisgay well somehow EA manages to have more gamebreaking bugs in its games than games from any other company I’m playing games from (Nintendo games rarely have gamebreaking bugs which everybody runs into for long; they always get patched out quickly.)
They should do something about the bugs, not sure what engine they would change to but as long as I could use abilities without them cancelling out for no reason or hit registration being an arse I’ll be happy

I think Battlefront 2 is pretty much nearing end of life now. I hope Battlefront 3 happens and it includes all content from the first 2 games at launch itself and then the 2 years after launch are spent adding the heaps of content such as heroes and maps which both games so far haven't had. Also, controversial opinion here, I hope BF3 doesn't have a single-player campaign and all the focus is put on making it the definitive multiplayer Star Wars battle simulator. A single-player campaign from DICE is guaranteed to be just a 5 hour average story experience, I'd rather they play to their strengths and massively improve on the multiplayer aspects especially the lightsaber combat.

If EA is abandoning this game but not releasing anything to replace it, they will be abandoning a massive audience, the people who are playing their flagship starwars game. So either, star wars is being taken away from EA or EA is releasing a new more money making battlefront or new star wars shooter

We need a TON of clone wars stuff. Maybe a whole new game's worth, like how the original game had just original trilogy content. Ki-Adi Mundi, Mygeeto, galactic marines, Plo Koon, Ahsoka, Cad Bane, Padme, Ventress, Magnaguards, etc!
The last updates were so great for Battlefront, espically December & January. I thought we´ll get updates at least every month of 2020. But the hope is not yet lost.
I think, it would be stupid if battlefront 2 ended. Come on, they have just realized the collection edition and a lot of new players are joining in the servers. Why destroy everything now?
#1, averages, like bowling, so everybody can win, not just low pings. #2, when a hero focuses on a trooper, let them have an adrenalin rush to defend themselves, again, not just low pings veteran players have to win. #3, rotation of hero's, after all, they're atom bombs, some players just use as personal point getters, and don't play objectives for teams.
If one thinks realistically it was clear that this game was in its final stages of support. The Celebration edition's success removed it from life support for a bit, but with no newer forms of revenue support was going to die out when the money run out. My best guess is that we might see some small clone wars content in the near future and perhaps the offline mission mode before support will officially end. I hope that we at least get a new clone wars map, for example a mustafar HvV map would be doable compared to a larger capital supremacy map. Maybe another popular map will be ported from battlefront 1. Should they decide to go for battlefront 3 I hope they will get it right from the start this time.
Wish Battlefront 2 could release a legacy pack where all Battlefront 1 heroes and villains who aren’t in Battlefront 2 could be released. Either pay the legacy pack for 100,000 credits or over 10 dollars, euros, pounds, etc...
tbh... i think the end i near. the next gen consoles are on the horizon and BF2 is 2,5 years old at this point. I think they should take what they learned with this game and make BF3 for the next generation with all that experience in mind!
I think this might be the end for Battlefront 2. Scarif could be the last thing they add to the game, and if you remember the last DLC for battlefront 2015 was also Scarif. I think this last update is like a conclusion for the DICE battlefront series with both games ending with Scarif, but thats just my thoughts.
Might be that the end is in sight or might just be that with the current situation regarding the virus that there is just a lot of delays in general (like maybe the approval process is very delayed right now) and well also a lot of people are getting either fired or are 'technically jobless' so might be a time for some to move on, not an uncommon thing within gamedev companies to move companies or at the very least move studios and projects. I also can't really see a lot of people hiring new people especially in the current crisis.
I want them to keep supporting this game because of my progression. I don't want to lose god-who-knows how many hours of sweating and grinding just to do it all-over again

Having umbara as a map would of been amazing, cool map and new enemy with the umbarans as well as the weapons and vehicles

William Mcpherson well then you’re either blind or extremely lucky (or you only play offline). At least 10% of the times I use a force power it simply doesn’t work. Lightsaber hit Registration is also just screwed up. At one time you hit enemies who are 20 feet above you in the air and at other times you can’t even hit someone who is right in front of you.
Kronos Bugs will always be a problem no matter what engine it is
#Dejiisgay well somehow EA manages to have more gamebreaking bugs in its games than games from any other company I’m playing games from (Nintendo games rarely have gamebreaking bugs which everybody runs into for long; they always get patched out quickly.)
They should do something about the bugs, not sure what engine they would change to but as long as I could use abilities without them cancelling out for no reason or hit registration being an arse I’ll be happy

I think Battlefront 2 is pretty much nearing end of life now. I hope Battlefront 3 happens and it includes all content from the first 2 games at launch itself and then the 2 years after launch are spent adding the heaps of content such as heroes and maps which both games so far haven't had.
Also, controversial opinion here, I hope BF3 doesn't have a single-player campaign and all the focus is put on making it the definitive multiplayer Star Wars battle simulator. A single-player campaign from DICE is guaranteed to be just a 5 hour average story experience, I'd rather they play to their strengths and massively improve on the multiplayer aspects especially the lightsaber combat.
Alwin Crasto YES YES & YES to all of this. Create an Alien/Bounty Hunter faction for this game too and I’d be so happy. Just having all the maps from both games would make me smile.
All I want is to have the option to get the old ARCs dual wield back and then I'll be fine with the end.
Some people have said that was changed so it would be easier to develop characters that have both dual would and jetpacks 👀

Why is there still no stat screen? It would be cool to know how much time I have played with each Hero’s, how many kills I have with them, etc.
I feel like 2021 is the minimum for when the support would end, unless BF3 gets announced and released at that year (which I find very unlikely).
They have said multiple times that bf3 hasnt started dev of any kind and that they are sticking with bf2 for the long run. Idk where these rumors about the games "end" keep comming from

If EA is abandoning this game but not releasing anything to replace it, they will be abandoning a massive audience, the people who are playing their flagship starwars game.

if this is the end then this will be such a disappointment of a dlc service. only 2 clone wars planets. only 4 heroes. only 4 blasters. no stats screen, no private matches. no 32v32 modes. nothing of significance. but hey at least we got tons of skins and special units tho!!!!!

The last updates were so great for Battlefront, espically December & January. I thought we´ll get updates at least every month of 2020. But the hope is not yet lost.

#1, averages, like bowling, so everybody can win, not just low pings. #2, when a hero focuses on a trooper, let them have an adrenalin rush to defend themselves, again, not just low pings veteran players have to win. #3, rotation of hero's, after all, they're atom bombs, some players just use as personal point getters, and don't play objectives for teams.
If one thinks realistically it was clear that this game was in its final stages of support. The Celebration edition's success removed it from life support for a bit, but with no newer forms of revenue support was going to die out when the money run out. My best guess is that we might see some small clone wars content in the near future and perhaps the offline mission mode before support will officially end. I hope that we at least get a new clone wars map, for example a mustafar HvV map would be doable compared to a larger capital supremacy map. Maybe another popular map will be ported from battlefront 1. Should they decide to go for battlefront 3 I hope they will get it right from the start this time.
It would be nice if they do a game based on being an Bounty hunter or something.

Wish Battlefront 2 could release a legacy pack where all Battlefront 1 heroes and villains who aren’t in Battlefront 2 could be released. Either pay the legacy pack for 100,000 credits or over 10 dollars, euros, pounds, etc...
tbh... i think the end i near. the next gen consoles are on the horizon and BF2 is 2,5 years old at this point. I think they should take what they learned with this game and make BF3 for the next generation with all that experience in mind!

I think this might be the end for Battlefront 2. Scarif could be the last thing they add to the game, and if you remember the last DLC for battlefront 2015 was also Scarif. I think this last update is like a conclusion for the DICE battlefront series with both games ending with Scarif, but thats just my thoughts.

why is this game going downhill all of a sudden?
Might be that the end is in sight or might just be that with the current situation regarding the virus that there is just a lot of delays in general (like maybe the approval process is very delayed right now) and well also a lot of people are getting either fired or are 'technically jobless' so might be a time for some to move on, not an uncommon thing within gamedev companies to move companies or at the very least move studios and projects. I also can't really see a lot of people hiring new people especially in the current crisis.
Battlefront 2015 ended with Scarif so it may be possible that these are the last few months of Battlefront 2. I hope not though.
I want them to keep supporting this game because of my progression. I don't want to lose god-who-knows how many hours of sweating and grinding just to do it all-over again
