Sophie, sweetheart! My heart is kind of aching a little at hearing you justify your decisions around employment. What kind of world are we in, where we are at a point that someone is having to justify actually wanting to work and provide for their family! Although I get where you are coming from, you are fully entitled to that job. If you weren't good enough for it, they wouldn't have taken you on! I hope it is all going well for you, and you're loving it 😘
I was being made redundant and I was offered a job at 9 weeks pregnant. I said nothing until I was 15weeks, the day after my probationary period ended. You do what you have to for your family. Please don’t feel guilty for that.
The fact your employer has been so kind and understanding means they are a good employer. Hoping you are really happy there Sophie. You went about it the right way xx
Sophie, pregnancy is a protected characteristic under the equality act 2010 so legally all companies are not allowed to discriminate against you because you’re pregnant. Just know that for those who may give you backlash 😊
I lost my job due to being pregnant almost five years ago. There was plenty I could have done due to this. But I was devastated and As I had my Son to pay for I was desperately searching for a job. Any job at the time, I did find one but I was stunned when they actually offered me one. I was worried sick about telling them. By the time i'd applied, had my interview and was about to start my job I was 23 weeks gone. They were lovely about it. I went back after maternity and I'm still there now. Try not to feel guilty. I did. but we were only doing our best for our little ones. Our second little person (little lady) is due in may! Keep your chin up. You're doing amazing!
It’s so hard when it’s comes to reporting anything health wise to work these days (be that pregnancy or health conditions) as it’s a worry how it will go down internally and how you’ll be perceived outside too. But you are absolutely entitled to get a job & want to do the best for your family. There’s so much more that can be done now too like flexible working etc to cover for you & for you when you are ready to return so hopefully it will all go smoothly for you & your family 💓
I currently work, however, the income isn’t enough. Right now I’m 19 weeks pregnant and I have to go look for another job. I’m very overwhelmed and worried about the outcome, but I’m hoping for the best.
You made a decision that was for you and your family!! Don’t feel guilty about it or feel like you will receive backlash! Everyone who watches your vlogs LOVES you and that’s not going to change just because of that decision. We are lucky enough to have you share your life with us so please don’t hold back because you’re worried about the opinions of people you may never meet. Enjoy your life and be happy xxx
Guys your vlogs are always amazing and don’t feel you have to justify your decisions. It’s your life and nobody should feel entitled to judge it. I love the fact you share so much so we are open and honest - so we get a real insight to your real lives I mean I know you guys don’t share absolutely everything but I think if you had to overthink what you’re saying it’ll take the enjoyment out of it as you’re being yourselves, and keep being yourselves! You’re absolutely amazing! Xx
Sophie, you did what was right for you and your family. That’s what comes first. Like you said you weren’t obligated to say anything. You are completely within your right to make the decision you did. I’m so happy it’s worked out for you ❤️
Sophie, aaawww, please don’t worry! You’re doing so amazing! I don’t understand why the general TH-cam public can be so mean and think that they can comment negatively on the decisions you make that are frankly none of anyone’s business but your own. The vast majority of your followers love you - including me - and support you. The world we live in nowadays is so negative and sadly this negativity seems to be everywhere you turn. You and Dave add a splash of sunshine, positivity and genuine reality to the mix. Keep doing what you’re doing and best of luck with getting a house you can make your own. Huge hugs!
Please don't feel bad Sophie! That is a more common position than you would believe and I can imagine how hard that is. To feel like you need to take care of your family and you are willing to do what is necessary to do so, but to also feel that actually starting a family will count against you. You are not a burden, you're bringing new life into the world and that is an amazing and magical thing!
Congratulations on the job, you did the right thing not telling them about the baby, I’m currently recovering from having breast cancer last year and when I start job hunting I’m in two minds as what to do, tell them or not, I actually had a health professional tell me a lot of people wouldn’t say anything, if you say anything I think it would stop that chance of even getting an interview, take care xx
Only a man or a woman that hasn't been pregnant and in the work force wouldn't understand. You did nothing wrong. They are lucky to have you. Don't ever underestimate your worth to anyone. You are worthy of all good things in life. XOXOXOXO Can't wait for your haul on your channel.
Yay to chip having his own Instagram, totally support your decisions so pleased you’ve both got jobs love you both and chip so very much and keep shining as always xxx
Sophie and Dave you two are my absolute favourites on TH-cam, I just love how sweet and just the most loveliest and kindest people on here, I wish you all the best of luck in your new job Sophie they will be very lucky to have you, love you guys xx
Please don't feel guilty you have to do what you can for your family, you should be proud of yourself for working hard to get that job to be able to provide for your family, really hope it all goes well for you ❤️❤️
You’re not a bad person. You’re doing what’s right for you! There’s so much uncertainty at the beginning of a pregnancy. You have to do you. Love you. Love your vlogs!! ❤️
Soph, top tip for when you get further along and any bra may be uncomfortable, Primark do a crop, lives sort of hovering between nightwear and undies on the shelving units. I have larger boobs and they are generous enough for me, supportive enough for daily mooching and so so so comfortable. I use them just for at home but I imagine they'd be lush for pregnant boobs! And sod the naysayers. You've as much right to make a living as anyone else.
I started a job when I was 5 months pregnant. I went the 2 weeks of training without telling my employer. I didn't lie or hide it but I just didn't mention it and you couldn't really see. But they entire time I felt like a liar. And then when they knew and I got preeclampsia and had to go to the doctors 3 times a week I just felt like a massive burden... But like you I wasn't even gonna get maternity pay from them..
Hi you are so sweet and I am wishing you and Dave all the luck in the world with the new baby, new jobs, and new house! Do you have registry anywhere that we fans could help you with? I would love to help you both because there has so much change in your life!
I love being a tag along during these shopping outtings both are so much fun especially around Disney. Both looking good n happy. Congrats on the job Sophie n hope Dave is adjusting to his. Thanks for sharing and best wishes always. Look forward to the next!
My personal opinion is that you tell them when you are ready. They certainly don’t need to know right away because they can’t use that information to hire you etc. anyway. I always feel like as long as you let them know with enough time to find coverage while you are out on leave that is fine. Please do not feel bad about that. If you are qualified for the job you deserve it...end of story. Good luck! :):)
Omggg this is so cool u guys aren’t far from me i go shopping there alotttt, being from wales you don’t find you tubers anywhere near u that often, especially ones as lovely as you two 🥰 congrats on the job! Xxx
Genuine question cause im trying to figure out the timeline: When you applied for the job, had you already announced the pregnancy on the vlogs? I know alot of employers search people online before they interview so its possible they already knew anyway! :-D
Congratulations on the job Sophie 👏 plz don't feel you have done wrong, it was the right thing to do in your situation, and I for one think if you are willing to work, whatever the circumstances, it shows great strength. I'm sure your employers chose you for your ability and personality, so be very proud 💕💕👌😁 xxx
Congratulations on the new job 🎉hoping to have a quick mooch around Primark tomorrow, need some spring/summer bits for our holibobs in April... I did chuckle when you were piling Dave up with clothes/bras 😂 xx
You shouldn’t have to justify your reasons around employment! You are very much entitled to a job and rightfully so! I hope you are enjoying the job! I hope you Dave & Chip have a lovely weekend! Sending you all the love!😄🐕🌟💙
Don’t feel selfish. You are worthy of this job and just as entitled to it the same as anyone else not pregnant. Pregnant women still have bills to pay, how do we do that with no job 🤷🏽♀️ I was once in your position but had to hide the fact I was horrendously bad with morning sickness. Hope your job goes well, don’t undervalue yourself over a decision to support your family, good luck 🥰
I'm made up for you both, life can get difficult sometimes. I'm a single mum with two boys, its not always easy. I love that retail park, was there last week, maybe I ll bump into you one day. You are glowing Sophie and I love the polka dot dress xx
Girl!! You do you!! You can work until you can't! Go for it!! Haha. You have goals and you have every right to work until you need to be off! I'm so proud and excited for you!! I'm glad they were so nice to you!! Super exciting!! Congratulations!
omg i was in broughton myself the other day ,and thought im sure thats dave from the vloggs in primark , wish i had come over now to say hi , luv u guys x
I was in a similar situation when I was pregnant with my second. I left my job after having my 1st then tried to get back into work and we fell pregnant v quickly with my second. I couldn’t get a job but I did end up getting the government maternity pay coz I worked enough before. You maybe entitled to this as you have worked before.
I love love the dress you’re wearing at the start of the video 😍 where is it from? I think you have done everything the right way and pregnancy isn’t and shouldn’t be a burden to anyone xx
Ah broughton is so close to me. If your ever passing by, your welcome for a cuppa 😊. Congratulations on the job. You are both such a lovely and supportive couple xx
I totally get why you didn't! I have a disability and I didn't tell employers that I was and now I've got a job that's in an office in Crewe that's not the best place to be and it's ended in a lot of upheaval. But I know that a lot of places wouldn't even look twice at my application after seeing the disability 🙃 it's really hard to balance! Also was that Broughton retail park? I was there on Sunday 😂
Don’t be scared of what some people may think about the Job situation! You’ve done NOTHING wrong, & are in your own rights todo what you did. End of the day, you’re providing for your FAMILY. What anybodyyy else would do girl, stop being so hard on yourself. Especially worrying about what nasty bitter people have to say. Keep smashing it, you’re doing great! 💗🤍💗
You shouldn't worry about what others think, just do what makes you and Dave happy :) You're doing amazing anyway, we all love your vlogs. Hope your first day goes well :) xxx
I would love a first time mummy friend like you! I’m 7 weeks behind you and it feels so nice watching your videos as it feels like we’re doing it together in a way 🥰💖
Well done on the new job! No way should you feel bad at all. It would be descrimination for them to consider your pregnancy when hiring you so not appropriate to even mention it at the interview. Please ignore any negativity! 😊 I would have done the same in your shoes.
Did you say what you are doing in your new job? 🤔 Love a Primark haul and try on so yes please! I did 😂 when you lost the car and it was infront of you! Sort of thing I would do! 😂
I totally support your decision to not tell them, it's not something that should need to be said anyway, jobs are seen as permanent so even though you'll be going on maternity you'll be back! Loved the vlog, your bed looks so comfy I need that!
Do you even weetabix if you don't have at least 3? 😋 The chocolate ones are my favourite and they actually have more fibre than the original ones. Just FYI 😉 Congrats on the job 💐💗
I understand why you didn’t say anything. I had to leave a physical job due to health issues and when trying to find another job I just kept being told that they feared the job was going to be too much and needed someone else so next interview I said nothing, got the job and have been there 5 years. I think if I was applying for jobs and was 12 weeks pregnant, I wouldn't tell either at that stage...you can always tell afterwards you didn't know yet...and like you said, the process took so long. I'm so glad they are understanding and you still got the job! :) Good luck with the job! And I love the honesty! Life isn't always perfect, it isn't Pinterest :p So keep being honest :)

Congratulations Sophie! I am also about to start a new job 😊
My mum's work never gave her maternity leave as they messed up and she went into labour there!

Congratulations on your new job. :)
I keep waiting for our yellow lab to get himself a job, but no such luck yet.
Totally understand why you did that Sophie! Best of luck with the new job! ❤
Love the chicken butterfly 😋 although I have peri salted chips and garlic bread 🤤😍

What is the job?! I agree with your decision employers should make allowances for pregnancy afterall it's what keeps the human race going!!
Broughton!! 😂
Don't think that you're a terrible person AT ALL for not telling that you are pregnant at interviews! @Çerastes what a disgusting comment
