Im new to the mz scene. Just bought my first etz 251 and i love it. Ive got a triumph tiger 800, a 1350 harley davidson, a royal enfield and an old honda ct90 but ive only been riding the mz for the last 3 weeks since i bought it!
I bought my 84 ETZ250 brand new. Till this day the best fuel consumption I get is 24km per litre. It has been getting better over the years but that might have something to do with me aging.
:D Well I took it prety easy, but if I ride on open road I do get under 4l/100 km . I do have electronic ignition instaled "VAPE" and I think that improved my fuel consumption based on the numbers. Recently I have changed some gearbox gears, one fork ,anfter puting the engine back together it developed some piston slap, so the fuel consumption has gone up to about 5l/100 km, so I will be reboring my cylinder soon and putting a 69.50 piston in. Your fuel consumption is not bad I would say, It depends on your roads, maybe the electronic ignition really made that extra diference
Than you :) , well they are getting a bit more appreciated, but still depends where you live, I see some selling for a lot of cash but those usually dont ever get sold
@@AdrianAgnic I live in Bulgaria. Prices are high, because they export these bikes to Germany where the prices are even higher. I recently went to see a 251, which was in okay-ish condition, but needed rear end to be overhauled and the electrical system looked messy, although it was working properly. It went for 1000 euros.
@@MariyanTsonevIn Croatia there is not many of these bikes left, and there used to be thousands, The bike gets more reactions than most old bikes cause everyone used to ride one, and then everyone just forgot about it. It seems as the production stopped and more refined bikes became available the MZ was considered kind of like a junk bike of the forgoten old days really soon. But it puts a smile on people faces. In Croatia the bike gets a reputation of being dangerous, there is always a story like : I got mine and crashed it 5 times in a first week, bad brakes, powerfull but dangerous, it seems as if the bike is unrideable when in fact its as any other bike, you just have to know its limits, and put some proper tyres on it. Its by no means super sharp and fast but then you have to ask yourself is that really that important when you are not on a track, it can still be fun when you lean it close to its limit even tho its slower than an R1. Also people say its very fuel thirsty, when I posted on FB that I will be doing a one fuel thank challenge on this trip no one thought it was possible. It not only made it but I still had plenty of fuel left from the big 17l tank
@@AdrianAgnic yeah, to be honest I was also surprised on the fuel consumption! I have heard of cosnumption to be about 5-6 liters for 100km. Perhaps yours in a very good condition and you drive well ;)
@@MariyanTsonev Well I did try to get the best fuel economy for the most of the trip, and the roads really allowed it, I did install VAPE electronic ignition, I think it improved my fuel consumtion a little, Usually now I get under 5l when I ride on a semi open road (I usually dont go over 90km/h indicated for longer periods) , and maybe 20% urban riding it will still usually be under 5 witch is great. I think that city riding it will be about 7, but I rarely just use it in the city these days to test it properly, but I do keep records of all my fuel stops and consumption on the app.
Hi, did you do anything else to it other than a rebore? And how is the power. Currently I no longer have this king of economy, I changed my cheaper reproduction exhaust to a new more expensive reproduction one. And the bike now goes a tiny bit better with more linear power curve I would say, but economy got worse by about 15% by my estimate ( I keep track of my every fill up in a simple phone app)
@AdrianAgnic I have the exhaust from güsi. Its closest to the original. I have an aluminium clutch ring from orp, saves 600g on the camshaft. and I can recommend the cylinder head from orp. This one I had on my 250. And the bing 84 carburettor. :))
I love your color as well. If you like we can connect and maybe meet once. My grandfather used to live in yogoslavia/Croatia and I wanted to visit his birthplace once. :)
@@johnnymotorzi.6224 Yes I have the same exhaust from gusi on now on the bike. Thank you for the info, I didnt now about ORP. So did you bore the cylinder and order 300 head?. Also what bore and piston did you use?
1eltino a normal 251 does not rev to 9k. Usually it has a lot of torque from low rpm. So I would say that something is wrong with your carburator if there is no power down low.

Saluds desde Cuba. Quisiera teer una máquina así.
Gracias, espero que consigas uno, escuché que van por mucho dinero en Cuba.
beautiful video try driving up to 7 rpm then it's a completely different bike :)
Thanks for your comment, but I dont think the bike goes to 7000rpm without some modifications.
Max power comes at about 5500
My etz 251 doesn't even come alive until 6000rpm.
She revs over 9000.
