As someone who has played every console Tales game from Symphonia onward to 100% completion, let me give you some general pointers. -Vesperia is overhyped. It's not a terrible game, but I firmly believe that many people giving it high praise are viewing it through rose-tinted glasses. The battle system certainly LOOKS flashy when you're watching a video like this, but in actual practice, it's nothing like this. These combos are fun to LOOK at, but highly impractical during actual gameplay. Between bosses randomly interrupting your combos and groups of enemies screwing over your ability to...do...anything...Vesperia has a lot of issues that nobody seems to ever mention. If you've never played a Tales game, then it seems wildly unfair to not give you a FAIR expectation of what you're getting into, and the blind praise of Vesperia is just setting you up for disappointment. Again, Vesperia is not a BAD game. I enjoyed it. I just want to drive home the point that many people OVER-praise it. For example... -People often praise the story, but...it's story...is.....bad...? Like, not even "Not worth the praise it gets", like the battle system. I mean the story is B-A-D. It's a direct ripoff of Tales of Symphonia, which did the same story much, much, much, MUCH, MUCH, M-U-C-H, M--U--C--H better. The writers for Vesperia basically said "Symphonia did well. Let's just do that again." but with no understanding of what made Symphonia's story work. -If you want a Tales game with a legitimately amazing story, go with either Symphonia, Abyss, or Xillia 1. Xillia 2 is fucking garbage. To-date, the ONLY Tales game I've ever played that I could not even force myself to play a second time. If I let myself talk about this more, I'll end up on an uncontrollable hate-rant for 8 paragraphs, so I'll stop now. -If you want a Tales game with great combat mechanics, Graces f (the "f" is part of the title, the PS3 port) is undeniably the best. Many people say it's the worst and they are tasteless, cocksucking whores and you should ignore their ignorance. The second best would probably be Berseria....kinda. Like, Symphonia's combat is EXTREMELY basic, but never not fun. It is certainly repetitive, but I never got bored of it. "Best combat mechanics" often sounds like "most complicated, in-depth mechanics", but that's unfair since a good battle system can still be simple as long as it's fun. So if I had to pick a #2? Probably Abyss. Less simple than Symphonia, but still pretty basic, while still being very fun. Graces f is more involved and has more mechanics to mess around with, while Abyss is more straightforward with just enough minor extra mechanics to keep things interesting. -Despite everything I just said, I do recommend you simply play the games in release order. Even aside from my own bias, it's both objectively true and commonly agreed upon that Symphonia is a great place to jump into the Tales series. Games before that were somewhat difficult to get your hands on due to being mainly Japan-only, or split between the west and Japan (Destiny 1 is international, Destiny 2 is Japan-only), so it's a bit of a garbled mess to suggest. Symphonia was when the games really caught on in the west, so it makes sense that the games became higher-quality and generally easier-access from that point onward. So start with Symphonia, play the "mothership titles" from that point onward, and if you're really enamored by the games, then you can try to seek out the more obscure games. -The release order I personally recommend is Symphonia (on the "Chronicles" pack, PS3), Abyss (PS2 or 3DS), Vesperia (Definitive edition, any major platform), Graces f (PS3), Xillia (PS3), Zesteria (PS3 or 4), and Berseria (PS3 or 4). "Arise" is scheduled for 2020. There are some games I didn't mention for a reason. Symphonia has a sequel-spinoff that has basically nothing to do with the original story and most agree you'd be missing nothing by skipping it. Play it only if you're just that in love with Symphonia that you MUST have it all, but be aware that it's a gigantic let-down. We...don't talk about Tales of Legendia. And then Xillia 2 which I've made enough of a point about and don't need to tempt myself into fury-nutting about any further.
@@gagejoseph91 This is all correct. It is easy to get hyped by watching a donguri video on ti though. Tales of the Abyss has one of the best storywise (and has a 3DS port as well as the original PS2 release). Tales of Graces f has the best combat, no question about it. Vesperia was the only surviving jrpg of that era and the sole representative of the genre worth a damn on the xbox 360. It is good, but saying it's the best is hyperbolic. I do however recommend it to anyone who likes combo games and jrpgs. Honestly donguri makes one hell of case to buy these games when he does things like in the video.
It's remarkable how well this game holds up. I went back to it after finishing Arise and thought the combat would feel stale by comparison, but it was actually still quite fun. Easily one of the best RPGs of all time.
Dang, nice moves. Especially impressive was that wild dash across the battlefield with Yuri. I assume it's a Ghost Wolf cancel? I can't figure out how to do that, or the double Rudolf with Rita. I guess I still have a lot to learn. Judith's combo took a lot of finesse I bet. It's tough figuring out different juggle combos for enemies of differing weights, but that was immaculate. Edit: Noticed you did Vesperia at least once before. The Raven/Patty assist, double water Burst Artes, and some other details were nice callbacks!
The dash was made with the repede bark cancel. If repede uses bark, all actions in the feald are canceld (somme 30% of the time at least) and if you do a move with a lot of momentum, and let repede use bark in the middle of it, u carry the momentum. XD dope shit right?
I wish we could get a game similar to tales games but way more dark and mature with a cool story that doesnt drop the ball, not even once- like the whole thing from start to finish is a bad ass experience. Maybe someday.

A beautiful concept called Cancelling. A good portion of action games have it, and certain characters have easy cancels. What it is, is forcing animations/attacks to just stop so you can do a new one from square one. Do it in strings and do it with pizzazz, and you get that nasty Solo Yuri combo in this. Ideally, you wanna keep a chain going until dead or if you got a solid short clip like in these videos. My first (decent) 30 combo was with Patty, and it felt good.
The dash was made with the repede bark cancel. If repede uses bark, all actions in the feald are canceld (somme 30% of the time at least) and if you do a move with a lot of momentum, and let repede use bark in the middle of it, u carry the momentum. XD dope shit right?
truly i having trouble playing this game.... i dont know... im always 3 normal hit.. then do 1 base attack.. what the fuck? can someone teach me how to do this kind of combo?
There are skills that you have to set that allow you to link together moves like this. In Yuri's case he can link in any type of arte he wants. Others can only link base > altered > arcane. With over limit tho, all other characters can do what Yuri can for a set time. Make sure when you're tryna set up artes for combos to know what properties they do. What I mean by this for example, whether or not they knock enemies down or away. Look for the skills with the name "combination" they should tell you what they do and what artes you can link together.
@@isStock you use repedes bark cancel which cancels everyones arte use in that same moment... But if you use ghost wolf during that you keep alot of the momentum you get.... Which in turn go flying fast..

@@gatete_sobre_una_sandia Souls games are easy unless you strictly put unnecessary handicaps on yourself like Weapon Upgrade Level or Soul Level Cap. If you don't do that and just play Souls like they're intended then they are a hundred times easier then Tales of Vesperia on Unknown difficulty or DMC on their harder difficulties even Nioh is worse then any Dark Souls game once you get to Way of the Nioh. Again the difficulty that stems from Dark Souls is because it innately doesn't have a set difficulty or ones that change anything differently beyond stat increases to Health, attack, and defense in NG+ to monsters so it inherently is a easier game once you figure it out and there is nothing to challenge you afterwards beside purposefully handicapping your character to make it harder but that really just makes you waste more time.
