The idea behind this channel resonates very well with me. I was first introduced to Radiohead through my father. Rather reluctantly, might I add. I used to be a huge Coldplay fan (also through my father) in my early-mid teens. At that time they really defined me I felt. Anyways. I remember being told that Coldplay were fine, but nothing compared to Radiohead. I thought about it for a while and decided to listen to them chronologically. Safe to say I only got through Pablo Honey before quitting. Honestly not the best way to start. Half a year later, after having put that whole Radiohead thing to bed, while driving at night with my dad through Norway, I found an ok computer CD and thought “aaghr screw it. Have it your way” and put it on. I wish I could replay that moment of my life once again. After the start of paranoid android, I got sucked into an experience.
It honestly took a little while after that for me to start listening to more songs and eventually albums. Never in my life have I experienced a band grow on me in the same way. It’s ridiculous to me how an album can make so much more sense on the 5th listen as opposed to the first. To me, that’s a pretty good sign of having mastered one’s craft. Enough blabbering. Ritzau out
If you’re going Muse, I’d recommend Hyper Music. Thicccc bass on that track.
Electioneering is my favorite song off OK Computer, you just don't expect this type of song after Fitter Happier, it catches you off guard. wish more bands still use the Cowbell.....
Yeah, I kind of think tracks pre-Fitter Happier as the breakdown of the soul (due to the themes of the album) after a confident start in Airbag. Everything post-FH is the resolve to face it or crack under the weight.
@@the15thfloor71 agreed!
Yeah, im not a big fan of this song, but it fits ok computer perfectly
Love the channel ❤
As you’ve only done 1 TKOL track, I think you’ll be doing Codex next. One of the most beautiful and soul replenishing tracks Radiohead have ever done.
When you give us the nod, I’ll give you some great Muse recommendations.
you show amazing restrain --- id be looking over every 5 seconds looking at him like "so you like this right? this is a great song right"
I find the bitterness in your voice when you were talking about superior failed technology amusing. I'll swap you for my minidisk player.
P.s. if you don't already know it, try Neutral milk hotel - Holland 1945
I do love Electioneering a lot, it’s such a rocky, energetic song, but it’s perfectly okay not to like it. I think it works perfectly in its placement on the album.
How old is Jake? Seems like he could be leaving the nest soon... will he be disappearing for school/mission/travel in the near future?
On another note, my favourite song-tied memory is of me peering through the back seat window in awe of the imposing and breathtaking Swiss mountains as my family drove through a tight valley on a trip for my high school graduation. This happened coincidentally while I was listening to Don't Panic by Coldplay on my portable CD player, where the chorus goes "We live in a beautiful world, yeah we do, yeah we do". It was perfect soundtrack for the moment!
actually, only one of those was actually me. and yes, I actually say actually way too often.
Arctic Monkeys are fine... (like "Do I Wanna Know"). But I'd love to see you guys discuss some of my personal favorite bands/artists like Manchester Orchestra, Beck, M83 (yes, M83), The Shins, The Cure, U2, Smashing Pumpkins, Led Zeppelin, Death Cab for Cutie, The Strokes, Tame Impala, Foo Fighters, Psychedelic Furs... (to name a few). :-) Love what you guys are doing. So much fun to watch/listen.
Hey! I'm turning 30 at the end of the month. I don't appreciate how much emphasis Jakob put on "DECADES" 😂😂
I dont think there's anything random about that last minute. I feel like they're trying to express and emotion, like chaos or something. but get it's not for everyone... first listen 😈
What i love about Radiohead is just how creative and how different every album is. There's not a single skip track with them. The Bends is my fav album only because its the album that opened my ears to Radiohead way back in the 90's ... As far as Arctic Monkeys they are a close second to Radiohead for the same reason. i would go with A Certain Romance by them as i first listen and enjoy If you do guys.
I love this song so much.
I suggest "like spinning plates" 😁 give the Gen Z the Album Version first and then the live Version from "I might be wrong live recordings" EP. Directly one after another ☺️❤️
Not a huge Arctic Monkeys fan, but as a Radiohead fan "Do I Wanna Know" is my recommendation.
Not a Artic Monkeys fan either, but I honestly think that their first album is their best work. It has that "chaotic" style with some pretty cool swish-ups. In my opinion they still made good songs after their first album but became kinda bland.
The Zune ruled!
Ironically, Electioneering might be the most Arctic Monkeys-like song in Radiohead's catalogue
Listen to Staircase!!! Love that song
I don’t say this needlessly, the Arctic Monkeys are quite easily the 2nd best band of this century after Radiohead. Every single album they reinvent themselves with resounding success, incredible songwriting and performances, I would love to see some Arctic Monkeys related content on here, there’s so much to choose from.
The Strokes are better. But yes AM are very good.
absolutely not lmfao
I am back to watch videos but I ahem disappeared also a reverse mullet is a beard
Do Arctic Monkeys R U Mine!!!
