nice to see a real phographer that think what he has in his bag. Seen a swedish phographers gear video when he puls out i think i counted to 10 camera bodys, thats insane! And he was like, this one for monday, this one for tuesday.... And then his lenses, he got double of almost every lens. I liked him before but not now, it fells like he just want's to show of his expensive gear. So really nice video and gear. cheers
Best combo lens for Canon are the 24-70mm 2.8 L and the 70-200mm 2.8 L. I have them both. And yes, the 70-200mm 2.8 L is great for portraits and close ups.
well recently I have been using uv filters and if you get good ones, there's not much or any noticable difference than not using one and if dust gets on the lens, if you wipe it every time you do, you brush off some of the coatings, whereas if this happend with the uv filter, its much cheaper to replace
Second!! hehe Good video, Nice gear you've got there. I watched all your videos and they are great. Looking forward for the lighting gear video and one day for more shooting cideos :) learnt a lot with those. Keep the good jood.
The canon Canon 70-200 f/2.8 is great for portraits and for those close shots you need, but also a wide angle would be NEEDED! for weddings to fit in big groups of people
@speckyprick @beerborn forgot the zero after the 7. There isn't a lens in that range. It's the very common 70-200mm which you can get with a max aperture of f/4.0 or the more expensive model with a max aperture of f/2.8.
Everything is about saving money and start buying more stuff. A recomendation for Flashes: If you have the pocket wizard or elinchrom skyport., nice! but ifyou dont you should have the 580 and a pair of 430ex, The 580 acts as TX adn 430 as rX...or you can buy the elinchrom Skyport Tx and RX set for less than 200 dollars in US.. enjoy shooting and regards from Colombia!
it's one of those lenses that gives that sort of "bubble" look...just go to google and type in fisheye lens and go to images and you can see what kind of images it produces
He says that the 50mm in the 1Ds (full-frame) it's a good all-round lens, which it is. And when used with the 1D-Mk3 due to the crop factor it becomes a 80mm anyway. Sorry to be asking the question for him but I think that's the reason.
Thanks bro! I'm paying keen attention to all your stuff. Interesting what you said about the 50mmF1.4. I have th F1.8 and It often "misses" with the focusing. The build quality is horrible. I ordered the 70-200 F2.8L IS today! I hear what you say about the rain. My last shoot was in the rain but I refused to give up beause we had to get the job done. The 16-36L handled it in stride of course. The 400D survived too - thank goodness :D I heard a rumor about the 5D MkII - I'm hanging out for that.
Hi, very very very nice video. I would love to buy all these things in future. I have 40D. What would you recommend to clean a camera lens. I saw many videos saying different things about that. What are your recommendation?
@ Tunefuldork I was replying to AchtKore about Bert having a 400mm or a 500mm focal length. I wasn't talking about the 70-200mm. Did I mention the 70-200 in my comment? Keep up. ;)
@1983crusher It depends. When I see people taking photographs of planes or just shooting everything 1 second after having seen it, the person doesn't do anything more than think "I want to have this on tape just in case". It's the biggest problem of inexpensive digital photo. BUT, apart from that, what you said is 90% true when speaking about how beautiful pictures are made. I'd take luck and time in account too :-) As a landscape/nature photographer I know waiting a few minutes always worth it.
@naruto10156 : ah ah ah...Easy...You're right "in general" but ...try to do great pics with "a good eye" and with a crappy equipment and you'll quickly see your limits ! For example all the amazing portraits that you can see have been taken with F1.2, 1.8 or 2 lenses. They all are very expensive but it's SO different. All is in the Bokeh...
I think he makes the point that since he's "not a wide angle person, why put something heavy like that" if you aren't really going to use it. The 70-200 seems to be his favorite so the weight is less of a concern. Weight vs use.
@2Thumbs0402 are you kidding me? Long focal length?? It's a 70-200mm, most portrait/wedding/children photographers own that lens.. I was expecting him to pull out something like a 100-400mm when I seen your comment. The 70-200 is definitely not limited to only shooting wildlife... Keep up!
These are EXPERT Pro-DSLRSs FULL FRAME AP-H. I am happy with my NIKON D3100 Thank You. I have a AP-C Cmos Chip, I am very Happy with my NIKON D3100 14.2 Effective MegaPixel Machine which comes Very Close to the NIKON D7000, only a tiny 40 lines seperates the Resolution between the NIKON D7000 and the NIKON D3100!!!!
@romsprod This is also true. But this won't automatically make great pictures. I agree, my 17-55 2.8 and 30 1.4 (on Canon APS-C) as well as my 70-200 telephoto help a lot to detach the subject from the background. P&S cameras have got a too small sensor to get that Out Of Focus / bokeh effect. But a poor background, a poor framing, a poor lighting will never make a good picture.
Your kit is pretty expensive,as amateur I take realy good pitures with my canon 40d and my olympus e-300 this dslr are not expensive like your but they take nice and sharp photos. Thanks for postings this videos I lerned so much.God bless you.
@naruto10156 Ofc. Call me a bastard but there's a point where you'll NEED good equipment. You see, most digicams can't shoot long exposure - one of the most mystical forms of photography :) The thing is, you need to start small. Let's say... a digicam or a consumer level DSLR. Then, if money permits it, advance :D
whoppers1000 - if you can afford for Canon 70-200 f/2.8, don't hesitate and buy it! Something cheaper is not good idea due to the fact that you'll get Canon lens anyway in the future.
@vicv87 I think your ideas and your skills at lighting are more important than bodies and lenses. A well used 500d will give 100x more interesting pictures than a $8,000 in hands of someone with absolutely no talent.
hej, goede videos allemaal! Zou je misschien eens naar mijn fotos (in een video op mijn pagina) kijken? Ik zou graag wat advies van een pro krijgen. gr. joep
@yourabuttkiss because u are "totally blind" to photoshop and sold some photographs taken with your "naked" eye that means photoshop is not good?, i don't think u know what photoshop is or does, u don't even know how to spell the word photoshop, photoshop is not a camera, it doesn't take pictures, it enhances them, makes them ready for printing, some of the pictures u sold probably ended up worked on with some kind of software enhancer, i know u are partially blind but don't be totally blind....
I really like how everybody forgets about all of this in your videos. It's a lot more about your subject, framing, background, ambiance, etc.

@speckyprick I don't use wide angles that much. My workhorse lens is the 7-200mm
I love the fish eye lens. Thank you for the info. You're so great!!!

might have to try out the 70-200 2.8IS again, been chucked in my cupboard for about a year as i prefer the primes such as 85L and 135L

did I mention 1Ds? No.
you got the focal length wrong. just mentioning for other people who are reading.
it's the 15mm diagonal. canon.
See the answers below. The 50mm in a full-frame (1Ds-Mk3) is a goot all-round lens.
Cheers, great video. thanks.

@EVDpro that's a Pocket Wizard
that's pretty much my dream set up.
What is that blue thing on your 17-40??
@naruto10156 If anything it's both, plus knowledge and planning.
its a canon ef lens 15mm f2.8
yeah who doesn't know the mark tree. it's so solid, just like wood
did you said sixty megapixels(60)?
Thank you.
did he say 60 mega pixels?
slight error - 1.3 crop = 65mm
You are great :) thx for the tips :)

Why would he need such a long focal length? It's not like he does wildlife.
One thing i remember my photographer mentor taught me was photography is 5% the camera and 95% the person behind the camera
no, its 16.
