    great video lads. awesome to see a 4wd Chanel with some common sense on deciding to not attempt something.
    several other channels would have gone ahead anyway or just edited the turn around decision out if the video.
    I'm really glad you left it in.

    Did say 35's is too much and the lift makes your Defender only HALF as capable as if you had not have done all the bad mods. Put it back to standard, keep the weight as low as possible and you'll drive those tracks no problem. Or just carry on not listening to the guys who know and keep making mistakes. ps, the Defender was about 10° off rolling, you bottled first, which is the way it should always be.

  • @aguyandhistroopy

    Great Episiode, tackling the tracks but doing it sensibly at the same time but not back out… but locker’s definitely in the Landy!! Keep up the good honest work👍🏼

  • @trickster8635
    @trickster8635 ปีที่แล้ว +1

    Looks like crawler gears, front locker and 4L80E auto conversion next on the wish list for the landy to be off-roadworthy.

    Love the Defender! Just goes to shows how effective lockers are compared to open diffs. I do wonder how much of an advantage wide tyres actually are vs skinny tyres in this terrain also?

    • @SIDETRACKED
      @SIDETRACKED  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Probably not much at all, it would certainly be an interesting test. Cheers for the comment.

    • @Wickham09
      @Wickham09 ปีที่แล้ว

      Moot point, the only thing that really matters is diameter. The way tyres are now means width increases and diameter increases in most cases. Cant really get a skinny 35" radial in Aus. If you can send me a link and I'll buy some for my defender.

    Conjecture. Had the Landy been driving with a rear locker engaged, at the point of the big wheel lift, would it have driven it over on it's side?

    @whatyabloodyonabout ปีที่แล้ว +1

    Great video, a bit too much lift in that defender. Looks tough, but you have most likely made it less capable on steep terrain like that then a stock one.

    • @SIDETRACKED
      @SIDETRACKED  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      You're spot on there, smaller tyres is definitely a better option.

      @@SIDETRACKED Love the honesty. It would work better on 33" and a locker than 35's and open. But you already figured that out ;) Now if you are committed to 35's it needs some more work done. Look forward to the next videos. This was a good serie of vids with sensible driving and knowing your limits. Not just smashing it for the views. If you ever come up my way (Noosa hinterland), let me know, there is a big Landy community here and a lot of tracks in Kenilworth and Glasshouse.

    Gosh, I'm truly disappointed in your landie, aside from poor gearing it was truly not inspiring.
    Now, who'd say the new defender is not inspiring and a worth while replacement as it would just walk all this on std rubber, hmmmm.
    Absolutely love the snug ladder fit on the Patrol, presume it's all self manufactured.
    Keep enjoying and struggling on.
