You'd likely be hard pressed to find a young feller that'd even know what the auld Make and Break engines are now a days . You're right though lad ,they were some sturdy made engine eh
@@shannondawn44 I'm 65 now, so hardly young. LOL. My grandfather was a stevedore in Halifax from the 1930s to 50s. Before that he worked the banana boats, freighters from Halifax to the Caribbeans. He owned a small boat for puttering around Halifax harbour. It had a make and break one lunger. My dad told me stories about some of the trips he took. Pretty amazing stuff. . .

Beautiful... Newfoundlander here...
Great song, great artist, & great Video.!
Cannot listen to this song without a tear coming to my eye.
Very fitting video for one of Stan's best.
The pictures told the story as well as Stan Rogers did. Nice job.
My favorite of all Dear ol' Stan's songs. I make Cape Islanders in 2 scales. It is Stan's responsibility. It had to be done.
So sad that so many old traditions are gone, among them the small coastal fishing fleets powered by the sturdy old make and break.
