You made a great comparison to American music. You can see a stark difference in music where the performer didn't actually write the music or lyrics. In many kpop groups, it is the actual groups writing and producing their own music like Seventeen, BTS, Pentagon and Ateez. It comes from their souls, and that's why it is so good! In essence, it is soul music. That's why you feel so happy when you listen to it. It's coming from a good place! .. and their culture is different than ours in America, so the differences are so refreshing.
