To all the diy ers, keep a bunch of 12 to 16" scraps of 2x4, 4x4 , and plywood pieces near by, and some jack stands. The rear tire on my 04 vtx 1800, with low drop fenders, was not a problem, gotta jack and block, in stages. 2 people are great to jack it up , and lower, but, 1 can do it, take your time, keep checking stability. Ratchet straps and some cardboard/ wood , on the seat , strap around the tire/rim , will easily lift it back in position. Made a front wheel chock out of wood, sort of a must.
I've owned a J&S Jack for 7 years and I'm very happy with it (I own a 2015 Ultra Limited).....BUT now J&S is out of business so, IF I was in the market for a new jack I'd buy this OTC Stinger jack. One comment on the OTC as shown in the video....I see no reason to bother with attaching the straps. If the jack is strong why do you think a 900+ machine will move? Perhaps "piece of mind" but not much more, so I personally wouldn't bother. Also....IF the weight distribution is the same or similar to the J&S jack the MOST STABLE POSITION for the motorcycle is AT THE HIGHEST IT WILL RAISE. If you take a look at the position of the cycle when raised up to the maximum, you'll see that it's almost DIRECTLY OVER the base, which is the best, most stable placement. ALL of the other intermediate positions will place the cycle weight MORE FORWARD and closer to the jack's front wheels, which is NOT preferred for maximum stability. Best to ALWAYS have the motorcycle centered over the entire base of the jack. So just a tip for most all jacks of this style....raise to the MAXIMUM height for maximum stability.
Great video, waiting to get mine in the mail. Now Im convinced I bought the right one to replace my old craftsman lift, same style mod 50190 which is impossible to get parts for now. Thanks for the review, BTW, very nice Harley! Cant wait to get my Road King up in the air so I can work on it.
I need this for my Bonneville T100. It'd lift it way easy. One thing that makes most lifts easy though, is strapping after the bike has been lifted. Straps are also mainly if the bike will be rolled around.
Great video, just put mine together & eyeballed your assembly because there were zero instructions included with my order. Placed my Indian roadmaster on the lift & seemed pretty secure, will probably piggyback off your idea & use 4 straps as well. Again, video was well put together…thanks for sharing.
Great feedback, glad it helped! As I’ve gotten more comfortable with it, sometimes I use zero straps depending on what I’m doing. It’s still working flawlessly and the motion is very smooth and controllable
I agree with you on Harbor Freight's motorcycle lift(s), they're very unstable. This is a great video of your OTC Stinger, but it is identical to my Craftsman # 50190 lift. It's 5 1/2" at its lowest, 12 1/2", 15 1/2' and 16 1/2", It also does a great job, but I was finally able to get off my butt and order a "Handy S.A.M. 1200" lift to make repairs and minor maintenance much easier. But again, great video.
I just got this for Christmas and so far I'm liking it. I have a '22 Lowrider and the one thing I noticed was that the right side of the lift and interfered a bit with the edge of the kickstand. I left the kickstand in the downwards position while I was lifting it. Just wished the rails were spaced an inch more apart I guess. Did you notice your lift interfering with your stand or did you not have that issue? If I move the lift more towards the right to avoid the stand, then it's not centered correctly under the frame of the bike.
Great video! Great audio! The one thing I noticed (aside from what you already pointed out) is the safety (stop) lever does not appear to have a retainer hook to keep it in the "up" position for when you're lowering the bike back down. If it does have one I missed it. Again, great video!!!!
Great review and video. Love your ride!! fantastic color👍🏼 Are you still using the OTC and how to you like it now that you've had some time with it? Thanks again and safe riding!!!!
nice video. I have a scooter, it's not very heavy (but too heavy for me to lift on jacks). I want to know if anyone knows of a jack like this that you can hand crank like on a car jack (I have a bad leg so I wouldn't be able to use the foot pedal to jack it up). thanks.
I see that you’re not happy with the harbor freight motorcycle ATV. I went ahead and bought one and I’m very pleased when it does just like the Harley Davidson one all of them are made in China they just got different names on them do your research and check the quality of the one you spent $300 for at Harley Davidson where I spent with the coupon under $100 and it’s also picked up 1500 pounds has all the attachments that pricey one does except for the straps and you can buy the straps at Harbor freight to cheap. FYI
Mine is not a H-D one...it’s cheap China one, but it operates more smoothly than the Harbor Freight one that I tried. I’m glad yours is fine - thanks for watching!
Have you seen many lifts under $500 that aren't made in China? I will say that for $340 it is a quality lift and is way better than Harbor Freight ones or similar.

That spring clip on the right side of the jack holds the safety bar when you want to lower the jack.

Agreed

You're right. And since getting more comfortable with the lift, I rarely strap it. The bike is very stable.

Thanks for the feedback, Frank!
I can't justify spending almost $800 for a Let's Roll dolly and lift. Hopefully this one is more stable than my Harbor Freight Pittsburgh lift.

I'm not a Harley Davidson fan but your bike looks awesome man
Thanks! I think it’s a little different...
Can you do a three hole fluid change?
Great video 👍
By the way, I have a Harbor Freight jack, ain’t good.
I haven’t changed oil on the lift…mostly just cleaning and detailing. Thanks for the view and comments!

It does...I just didn’t notice it until I used it a couple times!
Great review and video. Love your ride!! fantastic color👍🏼 Are you still using the OTC and how to you like it now that you've had some time with it? Thanks again and safe riding!!!!
Thanks! Yes it’s still working great and I’ve become more comfortable using it even without straps if I’m just cleaning the bike
Just put mine together yesterday. Do you still use the straps? A buddy of mine never uses his. Is it still working good for you? Thanks for the video
No I don’t use straps anymore. I got used to the slight movement it makes.
Good video, love that paint scheme, thank you!
Thank you!
Does the arm come off so you can get it out of the way when working on the bike? Also, can you roll the motorcycle around on it?
The big T handle does come off. And yes, I’ve scooted the bike around a little but it’s designed to be stationary, I think

Does the jack raise your bike high enough so that you can remove the rear wheel? Thanks
Honestly haven’t tried that but I’d say it would

Would you feel comfortable moving the bike on that lift?
I suppose you could spin the bike around or shuffle it a few inches one way or the other.
Sorry man you lost me at made in China
I understand…just wanted to point it out
Have you seen many lifts under $500 that aren't made in China?
I will say that for $340 it is a quality lift and is way better than Harbor Freight ones or similar.
I lost interest precisely @ the 3:08 statement. 😟. But I hope you have tremendous success with that "MIC" thingy🍀
Well yeah...know of any that aren’t?
@@nosyjoe yes sir. J & S. 👌🏾
@@rrydinhigh2452 thanks I’ll keep that in mind next time
