I have always had a lousy memory and used to be embarrassed because I was usually behind in every class that required memorizing dates, the order of things (like presidents), songs, etc. When I became a Christian, a few study groups I was a part of also focused on the challenge of Scripture memorization. That didn't work well for me either! I have discovered that I do much better understanding Scripture in context. When I take sermon notes, I take the time later in the day to write out every verse the pastor referenced in his sermon. I have found a few times that the Scripture used actually didn't belong in the lesson. Thankfully, these times are rare, but I was able to catch the misuse of the Scripture because I read around the verse, and not only the verse. I believe that it's important to understand context, and because of that, I have a better understanding of the Word. I'm not a scholar, and I don't mean to come off as knowing more than the next person. I can relate what Scripture means, though, even though I can't quote it word for word. I appreciate that you also do a type of Scripture mapping after you have written out the verse several times. That helps with understanding the meaning of the verse.

It’s KJV for me. It’s the one the Lord led me to when I first got saved and although I have read and own other translations, I always feel called back to it.
I also find it much easier to memorize, due to the poetic old style language. I do check other translations while studying though, to bring more clarity.

Thank you for sharing. I often (but inconsistently) SOAP. I found your channel on another topic and have enjoyed a few of your videos and IG. I like the Christian Standard Bible. I also like the KJV Easy Reader by Whitaker house. I love pens and markers that are retractable.

I’m like you. I lose everything. So I put all my notes directly into my honking big journaling Bible. Can’t lose it, right? I summarize the info and write bullet lists in the margins. If you color code verses, you can write the notes in a similar color. Inkjoy gel pens are good for that. If a verse is important, I will underline and box it in with glitter gel markers (also color coded). It makes your notes pop.

My Favorite pen too!~! I love the ink plane ole black!! They are the best writing pen.! I love how they feel in my hand and how smooth they write.. they do not seem to bleed through and or any of that goofy stuff. They are the best. So says me…. It makes me want to write and to journal and scripture write and all the good stuff also with my war journal and prayer book…. Thank you for all you do.. I just subscribed, you are awesome!!
