  • Continuing my series of my original Futureworld re edits, here is the complete 1982 Exxon pavilion, re edited and remastered for hopefully the best video and audio quality and most complete coverage available. Presented in 720p to maintain the high resolution of the graphics and plans and the quality of the original footage, and to allow the widescreen format to be fully utilised.
    Start with the original designs for a solar energy pavilion, and see how the designs evolved through the late 1970s.
    With designs finalised, see how the pavilion was laid out, how the ride system and the diorama effects worked and more. Watch the huge building grow from the swamps and finally see highlights of the dedication ceremony.
    Next take a full multi angle ride of the original presentation. Walk into the pavilion and start with the full Radok preshow, with flicker-reduced or eliminated multi angle video rendered in 16:9 and full source audio.
    Then walk into theatre one and take your seat for the multiplane projection introduction, again with all projection flicker eliminated and with a new clean live audio mix that I hope is the best available.
    Things get darker as we move into the diorama, with all its original effects working. Again this is a multi angle edit with authentic clean live stereo mix.
    Moving into theatre two is the whole second main show, deflickered and again with a new high quality clean audio mix. Here I've used the whole 16:9 tv screen to simultaneously show more than one 4:3 video clip of the 3 different screens at the same time to cover details that may otherwise be missed.
    Onwards into theatre one again for the finale, the whole multiscreen reflected ending is covered in multi angle widescreen with the 4th apex screen shown in full as a picture in picture. Again I hope this is the best available finale quality-wise in the fan community. With source audio.
    And then, exit the pavilion and cross to Energy Exchange in Communicore East for a full tour.
    A mammoth edit!

    I remember riding this in the 80’s with about 25 other people...lol. I was by myself for the afternoon, and I had no idea how scary it would be in the dinosaur kingdom all by myself! This ride was absolutely massive inside, and 25 other guests did not provide any sense of security on the giant, moving, platform seating. 😱😵😲
    The aroma and fog when you first enter the lagoon was amazing. It was like being hit by a wave of thick jungle humidity.

    Martin thank you for preserving and presenting this ride in it's original form. I have many great memories from yearly family vacations to Magic Kingdom since 1973. When we visited the then new Epcot Center in 1983 I was 13 and absolutely loved science and physics. Epcot Center was my dream park! I'm sad to see it becoming just another park with nothing but entertainment featuring Disney IP. They are taking away the Edutainment aspect of Epcot bit by bit. When they redid UoE into Ellen's Energy Adventure I was willing to give it a go. Little did I know what a disaster they turned it into. It's as if they said, "Oh, you want edutainment? here you go, Energy as presented to a kindergarten class". I've only been on it a few times since. I look forward to "riding" and experiencing more of your videos of Epcot Center as I remember it from my childhood. Thank You.

    Thank you so much! Man, oh MAN, does this bring back memories! I still love Epcot (thanks in no small part to the International Festival of the Arts,) but I really miss THIS Epcot, where education and entertainment really went hand-in-hand. While I didn't HATE "Ellen's Energy Adventure," I consider it lightweight fluff compared to this. This attraction took its subject matter seriously, yet presented it in SUCH an entertaining and IMMERSIVE way that Ellen--didn't. The Radok preshow, the swooping pterodactyl at 37:28 (that covers ALL THREE 70mm screens) and the electrifying finale all became permanently etched in my brain the minute I saw them back in '85 or '86. I didn't realize until watching this video just have awesome the musical score was...but I've always loved the two songs. Years ago, when I finally got a copy of the 1991 version of "The Official Album of Disneyland and Walt Disney World," I was thrilled to find those two songs included.

    • @CompassWest
      @CompassWest 7 ปีที่แล้ว +3

      Thanks for asking. I did start out studying engineering. And much as a result of the inspiration drawn from most of the original Future World attractions at EPCOT Center. Years removed, I really know engineering was my calling. That said, I switched to accounting in the midst of my college years. Flash forward 20 years and I've pretty much regretted making that switch every day since. The dream is still there however and its helped me to inspire my children to see the importance of not settling with a path that they are not inspired to travel.

      Yes, this ride was such an engineering feat that made me giddy when I first rode it. • @ophthodoc

      Just Imagine the ride was a nifty concept. I can just remember as a kid moving into the dinosaur room and totally being blown away. The attraction was popular in its’ day and I can remember other park guests commenting on it in the early 80’s. The attraction didn’t age well however and the movies became quickly outdated with time... it became hard to “sell” the original brand of EPCOT fun. Don’t get me wrong. I loved it. But times change and so does the management and imagineers that design and improve upon the parks. And before you know it, the original idea is changed by ideas of the people that follow.

EPCOT is supposed to be an educational park with rides that focus on teaching something while still maintaining that theme park ride aspect. What Disney should have done with this ride was remodel it and continue to focus on energy but have the new subject be about alternative eco-friendly forms of energy since that's the direction we're headed.

    We first visited in October 1988 and the show still seemed cutting edge at that time. We didn't know it was already 6 years old.
    One thing I've always thought about it is that the graphics in the pre-show seem to be a bit more "modern" than those in the main show, which leads me to believe that maybe the pre-show was produced only just in time for the opening in September 1982 whereas the main show may have been ready a bit earlier. Therefore they were able to put more modern effects in the pre-show such as the swirling galaxy effect.

Now's just a shell of it's original self, and pretty boring. I like Ellen and Bill Nye, but it's time for a change.
    What would be amazing is if they do close it, if they would bring back the original movies and soundtrack for a limited time. That would be so cool. It's not like they don't have the original films stashed away somewhere.

    Thank you for another wonderful video! When I went there as a kid I think I spent more time fascinated by how the vehicles moved than the dinos. My parents worked at Exxon at the time so we got to enter by the VIP door. Really love the style of the building. They just don't make buildings like that anymore. And that awesome music and singing! What is the music starting at 5:30 from?

    It hurts so much knowing that I'll never experience this, Wonders of Life, or the rest of the original EPCOT Centre. Even though I went in 2006, we could only afford one day at one park, so naturally, we chose Magic Kingdom (duh). Don't get me wrong, MK is rad as hell, but knowing now that I totally could have seen a Future World far less drab than what we have now will always be an immense source of disappointment. No lie, the first thing I would do with a space time machine would be to go back to opening day. Followed up immediately afterwards with going again October 1st 1996 so I could experience the badass SEGA display in Innoventions (fuck yeah NiGHTS), and Wonders of Life.

    It's unfortunate that this attraction gained a reputation for being boring, because it had some neat ideas behind it.
    I think they should have separated the dinosaur segment, the drawing force of the ride, and made the other films an optional experience. There was a lot to see in Epcot, and expecting guests to spend so much time at just one attraction was kind of asking a lot.
    I didn't mind the Ellen retheme, but it did date itself rather quickly.

    ok this is comoletely unrelated to uoe but what is the music disney rides use for grand openings? it was at the end of DLP's ToT opening and ypu used it on a test track video.

    I was wondering are all these from Disney world?? If so I’ve never been to Disney world?? I don’t live in that State.
    was also wondering are these Vids. from Epcot center?? They are all pretty interesting and cool!!

    • @michaelimmaculate7433
      @michaelimmaculate7433 3 ปีที่แล้ว

      Yes this attraction existed in Epcot center, this is the first incarnation... there was an update featuring Ellen Degeneres and Bill Nye which was not as good (imo) and did not feature the preshow screen with the moving panels... having said that, unfortunately... as of a few years ago it was dismantled and now they are turning the pavilion into a Guardians of the Galaxy roller coaster. Hope you found this information useful ! ☺️
