we grew up in the same neighborhood.. a few houses apart actually & the come up is authentic. she use to preform at our high school (lovejoy) during events & always gave great energy… i think the disconnect happened when she got signed.. she immediately got hyper sexual where as before the pen was unmatched! i’m disappointed cus we wanted more from her here in clayco (clayton county ga) but that’s how the industry do female rappers. -sign them -hyper sexualize them -make them another rappers bbymama and then forget about them.

People know Big Energy and other songs she’s featured on, but they don’t a LATTO track. You can’t ask someone to name three songs off of any of her albums, or tell you what her brand is. The sound is not unique either - like, Ruby Rose is doing better than Latto cause she has a unique enough voice; Doja has trademark sounds and flows. I really think she's having an artistic identity and image problem. Like, as a casual listener i can't say at all what is special about Latto and makes her formula diferent from Nicki's (except from being proudly from Atlanta). She's a curvy confident baddie rapping about being a boss, success with men and outdoing other girls and there's so much music like that already.
The sound is not unique either - like, Ruby Rose is doing better than Latto cause she has a unique enough voice; Doja has trademark sounds and flows. Latto has none of that, her flows could belong to Lola Brooke, Lakeyah or like 100 more girls. Her beats could have belonged to Sukihana, Cardi, BIA, DaBaby, etc. She's been really non-essential so far
