From my many visits to Tokyo between 2004 and 2019 the one thing that I enjoyed the most was night rain walks around various parts of the city. Every night it rained I was out walking. It is just a surreal experience. Maybe because my favorite all time movie is Blade Runner?
The water reflecting the colourful lights from all those neon signs and digital billboards, not just off the roads but the walls and everything that's soaked in rain makes it a much, much more vibrant environment....add to that all the people walking around with umbrellas does give it that sense of a Blade Runner like urbanscape...I too spent many nights walking around Shinjuku with camera in tow from 2010 to 2018 so maybe we unknowingly crossed paths at some point :)
My favorite and only Science Fiction movie I like, all the others are for 12 year olds. Thank you for that great baseball season when you broke the Babe's record bud. You and Sosa put baseball back on the map regardless of steroids or not. 🤘👍
@@inefekt That's right. What also makes walking in the night in Tokyo so magical is their drainage system - there are barely any puddles and your shoes are kept dry! Also there isn't usually much wind either so an umbrella is enough haha

@@TheScytheMoron Where I live now there's either no rain at all, or it comes with a wind strong enough that the rain is more horizontal than vertical. Waking in a storm is miserable and leaves me soaked and exhausted instead of relaxed.
It rained almost the entire time I visited Tokyo. For sightseeing it was challenging, but it also provided another interesting and at times beautiful experience. This was a lovely reminder.

Tokyo, one of the rare cities where it looks even more beautiful in the rain. Thank you for this video, just brought back memories from my trip in February. My favourite holiday destination of all-time and nothing will beat it. Shinjuku was where I stayed. Hotel Keio Plaza which is a few minutes away from where you was.
That was fantastic! Don't know much about Tokyo and Japan, but some sights felt quite familiar thanks to the Like a Dragon/Yakuza video games, I've been playing in the last few years. I knew that Kamurocho (the fictional location in those games) was heavily based on real places from Tokyo, but I'd never expect this level of similarity.
Kamuro-cho is based on Kabuki-cho in Shinjuku Tokyo, which is exactly the location where most of this video takes place. My office is near that location and I can confirm that it's not just similar, it's nearly identical. I can walk through the streets exactly like in the game without looking at a map.
It was fun to recognize the streets and buildings from the game. The games capture the aesthetic so well and it is cool to see a walk through the real area.

I love watching these Japanese videos as there is no garbage at all in the city. You walk through any city in the United States and there's garbage all over the place.
what truly makes this nice is there isn't any cars going HONNNK, and there's no cars behind those cars also going HONNNNNNK, and there aren't cars in the distances down every street goiing HOONNNKKK and there aren't any cars going by the camera man going HONNNK. Ya know what i mean? It's just, real nice.
