I was so close but still so far away I guess. We were trying to explain to one of the newer guys that this is the hardest thing to learn about spearfishing. Have to learn to forget and move on and keep going about your day shooting. He lost a good fish the day before and let it get to him all trip. We did 4 dives on that one as well.
Good point Jason. Discipline and repetition. Discipline and repetition. I remember years ago I had a huge cobia I was above and shot from just a bit too far away and the PH didn’t go off. Haunted me for that day and had literal nightmares for a year. Biggest I’ve ever seen. Mistake happens now, like inadequate gap closing, I adjust and am able to move on much quicker.
Niiiiice shooting very good composure underwater. I'm sorry that big black got away, but I wanted you to continue along on that same side he popped up from😊. Try squeeze the eyes it freezes the groupers or controls em a bit a lil trick I learnt from watching DanTEAMHEADHUNTERS MacMahon protection for you and the crew always. Upfull and Righteousness ❤💛💚

I wanted the second band on there, but I seen him sinking down behind the wreck while I was loading and figured I didn’t have time. was also hoping the powerhead was going to do the trick.
Yeah bouncing a powerhead off a 100lb carbos face will forever hunt me. I no longer use that kind of powerhead. If I had a slip on I could have taken it off and got another shot in this fish and probably landed it. Live and learn.
@@jasonbihari I've shot a couple nice Gags up here in Destin that id have sworn i had penetration past the flopper, and which somehow squirmed off and swam away. All we can hope for is that they dont just rock up and die.
Depends on what I’m diving for if I want to freeshaft or line. I came back to the boat with over 100 pounds of grouper this dive so I think it works out
@@jasonbihari we want 2 see u spear fish not untangle line attached 2 your spear, plus down so deep y spend so much of that precious time untangling line, plus u could get tangled and find yourself in a life threatening situation. Just saying and good luck.
@@penndunaway I believe the line is faster in some situations. I have one line and one freeshaft so I can pick whatever best fits. I don’t need to be chasing fish down that deep either. It’s not very often that I run two lines like in this video. I had the double line for the situation and was powerheading the bottom shaft.
This dive was pretty good, nice video! Fun part of diving/spearing is overcoming the littlle drawbacks that arise ! Your content is good man
