He just got very lucky that he landed on the exact spot youre able to do the trump jump on

@@bramy3646 I could be incorrect, but here are a number of things that I've observed watching MM2 players.
Spikes hitboxes are much more forgiving if you come from the bottom, for whatever reason.
Coming from straight below is much easier to make small adjustments until you are lined up perfectly, as compared to jumping from left or right downwards which is more common to have.
This probably took several attempts and he put in the one where it looked the most effortless or this was just a lot of luck that he lined it up with one adjustment.
@@doggfite The hitbox of the spike itself isnt smaller when you come from the bottom, its just easier to do those kinds of jumps from the bottom since you dont have any horizontal speed when doing it. Thats why trump jumping from the top is so much easier in NSMBU style since you can groundpound stopping the horizontal movement.
And in SMB1 its pretty easy to line up. Since you can easily tell that theres just as many pixels on the left side and on the right side of the block.

I'm only now realizing this, but seeing precise platforming in favor of difficult platforming really brings back I Wanna Be the Guy vibes. I kind of like precise over difficult now that I think about it, makes it more fun to explore the level, especially with the first level showcased

not sure how many deaths, but probably like 9-10 hours of attempts lol

If you do more of these in the future, a death counter or timer would be cool to have as an overlay, if that's not too difficult for you to integrate.
