What's up with the owner not trusting his number strength? I can understand not pulling from the top but aren't there attachment points lower and more online with the frame?
Nope. Most pickup trucks, especially newer ones, don't come with recovery points standard. They don't have locking hubs, either. They're all built to tow.

Hi Matt, I really luv your way of doing offroad recoveries! There is just that something extra in your recovering methodology - keep going. Joseph (Cape Town, South Africa).
That day the true hero was that winch. God dang that thing kept pulling and pulling add more weight, deeper mud and still kept on pulling. That was money well spent.

@rolltide9547 I'm just stating what tires stand a better chance. The discussion isn't about whether it's a daily or not. If you take your daily through this you're a clown anyways, this type of stuff is for a dedicated mud truck or hunting truck. Or like my man's jeep is his dedicated recovery vehicle, he can daily it sure but it's more so his dedicated rig for recovery
I still remember the turtle and the hare lol! Slow and steady wins the race! Plus flooring it with a truck and a person on a quad attached is a good way to look for lawsuits!

The white F-250 is a dead weight. The front and rear "RanchHand" bumpers weigh closer to 550 lbs for the both of them. It's diesel so its weight with bumpers is about 8,000 lbs. Good Luck.
CORB LUND wrote a great tune about this sitcheation… “TRUCK got STUCK” The Chev got stuck and the Ford got stuck But the Chev unstuck when the Dodge showed up But the Dodge got stuck in the tractor rut Which eventually pulled out the Ford With some difficulty
With all the accessories on the White Ford, try installing a winch on the front......then go mudding all you want. Still too much weight to be nimble...
I think my first few times off roading I quickly realized weight is not good in the mud. I rock a JKU with enough body damage to genuinely scare most Ford drivers. I had a '96 F150 I put 35's and lockers on back in the day and it did ok, but it was still too wide.
A lot of these guys getting stuck have mud tires but they are 3 and 4 years old. The tread isn't the same. You wanna do this stuff get some good new tires and not a Chevy! lol😂
florida man i need come out there mudding bec wow you guys got the mud that jeep is a beast holy shit thought about getting into something like this in rural part colorado that i am in but its gathering and having the money for the right equipment to do the jobs.
Great video - I love your approach to what can be dangerous work. Just one question. I was always told to never “Tow” or “snatch” with my winch line. I noticed you do this every now and then - does this damage your winch lines or are the new dynema winch lines that much better than the old stuff?
I watched a vid recently about a US recovery off road where the towbar snapped and a fatality occurred , I'm inclined to think these are similar circumstances in which it happend. The towbar/ bolts werent designed for the stress involved ?
after watching you pull on the gray and the 4 wheeler , you might want to school your towees about digging themselves into a hole while you`re trying to tow them out ... just put it in reverse , or forward , don`t touch the gas unless i say ...
I've had people ask me to pull them out using my transmission, I said no! That's why I have a winch. I wonder if that truck took in a little water in the air intake blowing out all that white smoke?
Regarding your comment at about 6:20 about not using a ring / donut as it'd have come off - have you looked at factor 55's donut with fingers? Seems like a decent solution to that problem.
🤣 folks with egos bigger than their one brain cell with no winch...Ok Jimbob...let's go find us a swamp we can get stuck in...Awesome recovery as always 😎

Sure sounds like the Chevy burnt up his transmission by not putting it in 4-low to start with. Never underestimate an electrical issue with newer vehicles but not knowing what 4low is for is always a rookie mistake. Great job fishing them out.
That Chevy doesnt have 4lo. It has a single speed transfer case. On the newer Chevys you have to get a Z71, Trail Boss or ZR2 to get the 2 speed transfer case.
Ah, that might be what he meant I’ll take that blame I told him to put it in 4lo and he said he can’t I assumed it didn’t work not that he didn’t have one
@@matt.mckinzie Kinda silly on Chevys part. I figure they did that because they figure if you gonna offroad regularly you would buy a Z71, TB or ZR2. I would go in there without a winch, but with Bernard the mouse from the movie The Recuers. That dude is good in the swamp fo' sho'.
Using the winch over flooring it separates a pro from a beginner.. you did everything the correct way brother.
Amen
There's a time and place for kinetic recoveries, but that's often people's first attempt.

The white F-250 is pretty when cruising the Walmart parking lots but a complete dead weight when it's mudding....
Not to mention the low tread on the tires.
Street truck, good for work not playing.
Just the wrong tires. Some tractor tires would have allowed this truck to make it

Diesels are tough to mud. Very heavy and difficult to get wheel speed.
Very technically and appropriately achieved as aways. 😊.maybe many other might learn more for their future adventures.
