It warns people away from the earthquake but they never predicted it, so those next to the fault do not get warnings.

Depending on where you live I'd suggest looking signs in the animals. Birds and dogs are super sensitive to seismic waves and changes in electromagnetic so any flux or something close they're gonna sense it a good couple seconds prior and usually go crazy. Family of mine have noticed the animals change suddenly prior to these shakes safe to say to trust them.

That could be true, but they may also be foreshocks.
This app is not “predicting” anything. All it’s doing is making notifications of S-waves and P-waves (precursors to an event that’s already happening). It’s the same technology that Japan’s been using for years, it’s just making notifications to cell phones instead of just a monitoring station.
Dutchsince is the one predicting earthquakes and he's pretty good at it. Check him out on TH-cam.

We need to support them by giving them encouragement to keep on getting more accurate. I am thankful for their efforts especially Luke and Dutchsince.

They really just should be educating everyone about earthquake preparedness: have updated emergency supply kits (including food and WATER!) and know your path to high ground because you have 20 minutes to get to it after a large quake hits (due to the incoming tidal wave = flooding).

Exactly what I said earlier. Out of all places, this location needs it. 8 Seconds is nothing. In Mexico I believe it was close to a minute if not more in some areas.
That's because specifically in Mexico City where they are built over a lake and next to active volcanoes they're in super high risk most of time. After those horrible deadly shakes of back then it's safe to say they don't wanna take any more chances. My father is from Mexico City and he's always been wary of Earthquakes.

How come you can get something like a text alert even if you don't have the My Shake app? It shows up in the pull down of Notification Center on my iPhone but it is not actually a text. I might have signed up for alerts from PG&E at some point.
I got one too. I think Google has some sort of alert system although I don’t have the Google app.

Dutchsinse is the only person I’ve seen who is accurate with earthquake forecasts. He gets shut down regularly by govt or someone for being too accurate.
He is very good and only gets better.. he predicts a week ahead usually

I was in the Presidio when the quake happened. No one in my office received an alert from Myshake, although, we all have it.
They've been predicting that's for a while now. Don't hold your breath.

The MyShake app has to be running on your phone all the time to be effective. It drains the battery somewhat quickly. It might give you a few seconds notice of a quake, not enough to do anything. But it does help the geo scientists with data, I presume.
It helps them to track your every move; every thought, while they listen in to your most private conversations.

What do you need to have when a quake happens?
the warnings will dramatically increase the fear factor with some, especially if the predictions are accurate....
I never got the notification even though I have the app on my phone.

Why don't they listen to the sound that dogs make, when there's a siren the sound that dogs make is a howling sound and when it's an earthquake they make a sound like they're letting us know that there's going to be an earthquake in the next few minutes or so and dogs are always right. Animals have a lot of spiritual connections to let people know that there's going to be an earthquake or a natural disaster. If the usgs uses the sound coming from a dog/dogs then they can use that as the early warning system for people to be aware that there's going to be an earthquake coming and they can be prepared for what's to come.
All animals know when earthquakes will happen. They can feel the subtle vibrations of the Earth moving.
That would make too much sense in our modern sense of science.

That statement doesn't get anything right. Magnitude 6 in comparison to what? With each increase in magnitude say 5 to 6 that is 33 times more powerful and from 5 to 7 is 1000 times more powerful. Stephanie seems to be stuck in the old Richter scale metric.

Title is misleading. It doesn't "predict" an earthquake. It gives a slightly early warning to those further from the epicenter of a quake as it is occurring. Data can travel faster, especially with 5G, than the shockwave which has to reverberate through physical material. Only problem is, even with a full 10 seconds, people may not be able to transport themselves to a safer location and potential panic reactions may result in tragedy.

You have time to take a deep breath and center yourself so you can think. Japan and Mexico use something similar.
You have to start somewhere. The Wright Brothers didn't consider it a waste when their first flight lasted 12 seconds and flew 180 ft. It proved human flight was possible. Predictions will get better with time and technology.
