The "boost" is either the DRS (the rear wing opens which gives you extra speed) or use the overtake button (it uses the battery which gives you extra power) They were neck-and-neck going into the last race (exact same points for both Lewis and Max). Max literally won the championship on the last lap. PS: I watched the whole season live and it was the most INCREDIBLE season I've ever watched!

The problem with Max' and Lewis' contact was that Lewis took a massively off-apex line, which no sane driver would have taken, completely missing the apex and kind of trying to squeeze Max out, but Max was ahead and had no visibility of what Ham was doing. It's a known dirty trick but unfortunately, the penalty for it is basically non existent, because +10s means nothing if you crashed your rival out (for which you can get out right disqualified under other circumstances). Lewis also proved it this year when he found himself in the exact same position, but with Sainz or Leclerc (I don't remember rn who it was), and took the corner like any driver would not crashing anyone out. But then there's Abu Dhabi and the safety car fiasco, which I'd say makes up for it.
Max is the only driver got into lewis nerves. Respect to both
