She is a 17 year old Russian singer, who you just watched perform at the age of, I think 15. She is probably best known for having won two seasons of the show You Are Super, at age 14 and then again in their super season for past winners, the following year. This is a show for orphaned and/or abused children to showcase their talent - she has both of these in her past. She was happily adopted around the age of 5. Traumatized and not speaking well after her early childhood, her adopted mother took a therapist's suggestion and enrolled her in voice lessons as part of her therapy. She has flourished from there. She has the ability or skill set, to become one with the song or subject of the song. In an earlier performance of this song there was a dancer, and this is why Diana turns to her left. It's also brilliant in the way she book ends this song using her head voice. Besides Wicked Game and Rechenka, Fastidious Horses is superb. She herself is a miracle. Surviving a failed abortion, she was seriously abused until her aunt feared she would be killed and kidnapped her at four and left her at a train station. She was later adopted at an orphanage. Her mother had broken her collarbone and damaged her larynx. Like I said, she is a miracle. Kevin Neal You have discovered Diana Ankudinova. I found her a couple of years ago and simply fell in love with her voice and how she performs on stage. She never simply sings a song, she lives what the song means. Many vocal coaches and teachers have called her a contralto, the rarest of female voices. For me she ranks up there along side of Angelina as a fantastic singer and performer. Diana is more animated than most other performers, she does have theatrical experience along with vocal training. If you delve into her life's story you will realize just how important the vocal training was for her. Here she is singing in French, she is Russian but sings in many languages. Diana is not only an amazing singer but an inspiration. You can check out any of her videos and you will be amazed. I support the recommendations from the other entries posted here - you should listen to other Diana Ankudinova's songs, some are in English but they are all bested by the performance in her native language of the song "Rechenka"="Реченька"="Rivulet" - referring to the primeval mysticism (there is one copy of this piece on the YT with poor English captions, you can find the correct translation on Google). This is known as "Pentatonic" singing and is kind of like the Middle Eastern singers do but she has done something more organic with it. You can hear Derrière singing a low note from her throat/stomach and a higher note out of her upper throat/nasal cavity.

Besides Wicked Game and Rechenka, Fastidious Horses is superb. She herself is a miracle. Surviving a failed abortion, she was seriously abused until her aunt feared she would be killed and kidnapped her at four and left her at a train station. She was later adopted at an orphanage. Her mother had broken her collarbone and damaged her larynx. Like I said, she is a miracle. You have discovered Diana Ankudinova. I found her a couple of years ago and simply fell in love with her voice and how she performs on stage. She never simply sings a song, she lives what the song means. Many vocal coaches and teachers have called her a contralto, the rarest of female voices. For me she ranks up there along side of Angelina as a fantastic singer and performer. Diana is more animated than most other performers, she does have theatrical experience along with vocal training. If you delve into her life's story you will realize just how important the vocal training was for her. Here she is singing in French, she is Russian but sings in many languages. Diana is not only an amazing singer but an inspiration. You can check out any of her videos and you will be amazed. A few of my favorites are, Rechenko, Tomorrow is a lie, human, wicked games, and so many more.

Diana was born in May 2003 in Arseniev in the Far East of Russia. She didn't have a happy start in life. The woman who gave birth to her had 12 pregnancies, only Diana survived ... and she did not love her child, abused her cruelly and tried to I drowned. Relatives found the child with a broken collarbone on the street and shortly afterwards took the 3-year-old girl to an orphanage. Finally, there she found love ... from Irina Ponik. Taking a little child into the family was not easy for Irina. Her son was already 20 years old, daughter Nastya 17 years old ... Start all over now? Yes!!! Diana came to a poor but loving family when she was 5 years old.
Diana spoke badly, cried a lot and was still very scared but she all sing songs from cartoons. And so, the singing teacher Elena Kazantseva discovered Diana's talent. And all started ...
During 2008 to 2012 Diana sang around 40 songs, including at competitions.
Diana's mother became her daughter's manager. Everything that has to do with Diana's singing training, performances, competitions, looking for sponsors is organized and coordinated by her mother Irina Ponik. She took extra sewing courses too. Since then, she's been sewing all of Diana's stage costumes, because all of these things consume the family budget. She accompanies her daughter on trips and captures her life in photos and videos with the persistence of a visionary.
Diana impressed with her talent in over 50 national and international competitions. Her confidence grew, her voice continued to develop ... until one day she was asked to compete in more distant competitions so that other children could have a chance to win.
So, 2012 Irina’s family moved to her hometown of Toglyatti, much closer to Moscow. Diana lost her fear that the woman who gave birth to her would kidnap her.
In 2017 Diana went to Moscow, at the Russian 'The Voice Kids'. Next day, a huge scandal broke out in social medias. People demanded for Diana's participation in the competition. A door had closed but a new door opened...
Diana entered another competition in 2018 and 2019 and won twice. This project is unique in the world, an international TV- competition: 'You are Super', especially for adopted and orphaned children.
2018 (3rd season) Diana sang 'Derniere danse' (French), 'It's a Man's Man's Man's World' (Engl.), 'The River' (Russ.), 'Tomorrow Is A Lie' (Engl.) and 2019 (super season) Diana won the Grand Prix with 'Blizzard' (Russ.), 'Wicked Game' (Engl.) and 'Human' (Engl.).
The winner of the season will be determined by a 6-day public vote and the final took place in the Kremlin Palace and her videos were uploaded to TH-cam and soon she had millions of fans.
The project producers help the finalists start studying and encourage their creativity. Diana won a scholarship to the College of Music. Igor Krutoy, here as a juror, gave her a small apartment in Moscow. So, she could start her vocal training with the best teachers such as Professor Olga Donskoy (She died of Covid-19 in Oct. 2020).
The break of voice made Diana’s voice even darker and deeper. She has mastered this time very professionally and has worked hard to bring back the lost high notes and has expanded her vocal range, currently from C3 to D6. Her genres are folk-rock, folk-pop, jazz, soul, blues, soldier songs and Diana-stile… tradition meets modernity.
She loves to sing in French, but also sings in English, German, Arabic and Spanish... but only phonetically.
But she is not only a great singer and storyteller, but also a humble, intelligent and hardworking young woman. She also gives charity concerts. She loves her family and her fans. They are 'friends' to her and they are very supportive of her. Diana is grateful that they helped improve her home studio and also supported her future plans. Her Russian Friends have chosen Diana as "National Treasure" (no official title).
2020 Diana graduated from high school a year earlier with honor, as an external student and now, she is a student at the Russian Institute of Theater Arts (similar to Juilliard). She is already composing songs and we will definitely hear her own song soon.
She will only take part in major competitions if invited. Such competitions require a lot of time, effort and strength. As a result, participants often have large educational gaps and problems later on. Diana is a smart young woman. She focuses on her studies, her voice and expanding her repertoire.

I was hoping you would find Diana. She was either 15 or 16 here singing in French. She sings in multiple languages. Wicked Game (English), Rechenka (Russian) , Human (English), Blizzard (Russian), Take On Me (English) are all amazing among others. I encourage you to also listen to Happiness (her newest original single). DIana turns 18 at the end of this Month and is currently in her Freshman year at GITIS performing arts University in Moscow. She has an amazing lower register and unusually beautiful vocal color.

If you listen carefully you will hear her singing in two note ranges at the same time. This is known as "Pentatonic" singing and is kind of like the Middle Eastern singers do but she has done something more organic with it. You can hear Derrière singing a low note from her throat/stomach and a higher note out of her upper throat/nasal cavity.
