These videos should be shown in schools to seed the minds of the young. We need to preserve this kind of engineering thinking that Ivan has worked with and developed in his long career.

Insurance companies have killed school shop classes 😢. I was fortunate enough to have had the opportunity to play with tools that I could not afford, and had a couple of great teachers. One bad one, and I would never besmirch the name of Max Schlarbaum, bless his wicked little heart 😂. Larry Judd was exemplary, as was Joe Lewis…both come to mind routinely even 54 years later. Definitely the best thing about School, have done it for income and for fun and just finished doing some repairs on my backhoe starter what broke the starter housing. Epoxy should be cured tomorrow evening and a multi hundred dollar replacement won’t be needed ……hopefully 😊

One of the few wife’s who knows what an in and out box is, you definitely have a keeper! I have wanted my entire life to pilot an Offy at speed, I’m so jealous 😮 😂 😊. Great stuff you are doing, just what retirement needs to get you going in the morning! Cheers from the States.

The three of you are a brilliant team. It is so good to hear John's thinking as you solve problems--he's a quiet genius, really. Of course, Ivan is simply amazing, and Suzie has turned out to be the best videographer. Thank you so much for all the detail, particularly for going the extra mile and presenting the foundry work--patternmakers (as I recall, Ivan is a patternmaker) and foundrymen are the unsung heroes of mechanical artistry.

Doing the chassis mod reminded me of visiting an engine builder in the eighties. When we walked into the workshop, we were met with loud expletives and the engine builder standing on a DFV block installing new liners with the aid of a sledge hammer.. ...

Certainly "Not vandals!" It will live again for what it was meant for, instead of being some deteriorating museum piece. The fact that it is not original is not something that started with Ivan! No doubt the car's history has been fascinating and the modifications over the decades are all part of history that makes this car "Authentic." Not some car that never developed over time with use. Like old houses, the important thing is that the changes are sympathetic! And this is!
Thanks and best wishes from George

Beautiful casting work! I can only imagine the guys building these frames back in the late-1930s through the 1950s. Most of the midgets that ran around here were Kurtis Kraft. They really did not make thousands of these cars. I will get my Offenhauser book out and see how many of these engines they actually built. Some midgets were powered by 60 series Flathead Ford engines. I knew a guy who had one for a while

Always enjoy seeing the thought processes in your fabrications. It’s coming
Along nicely. Be intersting to see this running with an actual starter and gearbox. Having a push start and an in and out box is a pain
But was all that was needed for its original intent.

Why not lengthen the cockpit area? Back in the day, several KK midgets were stretched into sprint cars by lengthening the cockpit and the hood. Makes a more pleasing look as well as giving the driver more room. A set of period correct drum brakes for a midget were put on sale in the US last week.
