Thank you for your genuine reaction. Kudos to Yoohyeon for allowing us to see such a private part of her life. Sometimes we put idols, or celebrities in general, on a pedestal or tear them down based on a very narrow view of what we are shown in public while mostly forgetting that, like all of us, they are people with stories similar to ours. Judge gently for you know not what the other person is going through.
This episode was very hard to watch. Not only because i'm a Dreamcatcher fan, but because i share the same pain as Yoohyeon. I lost my dad 12 years ago. She was very brave to allow this to be published. I really hope she managed to take some pain away... And i hope this episode reminds people that idols are people too and that they have feelings and struggles just like everyone else.
Sir, thanks for your reaction. Over the years being a singer, Yoohyeon has never shared with us, Insomnia, that her father passed away a long time ago. Looking at Yoohyeon's sisters reactions, all of them knew, but no one has ever shared it. We, DC's fans, were shocked to know that, too.
Apparently with Dreamcatcher, I am a sympathy crier. I don't know why. But if they cry, I cry. The courage it must have taken for YooHyeon to share this with us is amazing. She easily could have told the company no, and they would have done as she wished. It just goes to show how much trust and love they have for their fans. InSomnia put themselves to a higher standard than some other fan bases, something we pride ourselves on. We're not malicious or hateful to other groups, but mostly, we love and respect our girls unconditionally and will protect them and their image at all costs.
i have seen this multiple times and it took me alot of watches before i didnt cry when watching this and i dont cry much at all this is emotional and Yoohyeon is brave for this i have alot of respect for her and got even more after i saw this its an amazing episode of dreamcatcher mind
This episode is very difficult. But it is important to know that this would never have been published if Yoohyeon would not have agreed. She probably wanted to share this for people who have lost someone as well. InSomnia in turn won't ever bring this up with her at fansigns and stuff like that, it is her private pain that she shared with us and it is a question of respect.
I knew of this episode of DM but this is the first time I’ve actually watched it in full. I just hope the experience helped Yoohyeon in some way and that she’s better off for it. I lost my mother over 20 years ago to cancer and I don’t think I’ve ever really faced my loss in such a way.
I was recently reminded of this episode while going through Dreamcatcher's cover songs. Yoohyeon covered a song called "어머님께" on her birthday fan meeting 190106. My first impression was "Cool! Yoohyeon rapping!" Then i looked up the lyrics to the song... And it's a song about growing up poor with a single mom, and regretting all the hard times she caused her mother. I instantly wanted to give Yoohyeon a hug when i realized the meaning. 😭 (If you want to check it out yourself, note that there isn't a lyric video for her version, so you will have to use the original artist's lyric video. Yoohyeon's version skips the 2nd chorus and 3rd verse, and goes straight from the end of 2nd verse to the bridge)
Bit late to this, but it's rattling around in my head so I'm putting it down anyway. This video was the missing puzzle piece for one of the major interactions between Dreamcatcher members, namely Sua and Yoohyeon. Sua is notorious for endlessly teasing, nagging Yoohyeon and making her laugh. Now I know why. Sua loves all the members but especially Yoohyeon, and she always makes sure to keep Yoohyeon's mood up and distract her from that scar on her heart. All the members know about it. The instant reaction to 'oppa' reveals that. Sua is always there to pull her out of a dark mood and I've seen her do it several times. Sua is a perfect angel and the best friend anyone could ever have.
I am a strong empath too. Every time I see this episode the waterworks come out as well. While I don't think it is CONFIRMED that Yoohyeon gave her blessing for this to be posted, I am 99% sure she did. No way they would've gotten those pictures of her dad and her if she didn't want them to. Also, just a guess, but I think the fact that you can see some tears on Sua's cheek but never saw her crying probably means she had something similar happen and didn't want it posted (which is perfectly understandable if that's the case). Yoohyeon is so strong, and it just goes to show that you never know what is going on in someone's life, so we must always be kind to everyone. 💙
Bro😭im not gonna lie, watching this when it came out,I cried so much,I guess we all did, yoohyeon is such an amazing person,I'm actually tearing up again. Watching you react to it..... .anyway like she said ,the past is the past, let's move forward with happiness ,thanks for the reaction ROSS❤
4:05 The utter _disgust_ on their faces... 🤣 4:30 From what they said at the beginning, I think they knew there wouldn't be enough time to do _everyone,_ so they played a ladder game to determine which ones would do it. And if you look at the comments on the original video, there's actually one at the top from Dr Seol Ki Moon, who was the hypnotist in the show, saying how nice it was to work with them... 🥰 9:50 I'll be honest, with what she said about that second person, and her love of dramas, I can't help wondering if she was subconsciously pulling from things she'd watched on TV... 😜 10:05 I think from their perspective, they're seeing through the eyes of the people they've "regressed" to. So, when she was the boy in the first place, SuA would have been searching herself for a nametag, or seeing her reflection in a window, to find out exactly who she was... 17:45 Yeah, this episode makes me tear up every time. I don't think _any_ of us knew about this before the episode was released; as far as I'm aware, it wasn't anything that she'd even _mentioned_ in public. 19:50 Totally agree. And while she was clearly upset while she was under, her demeanour after the fact suggested to me she was totally okay with what they'd done (if a little embarrassed, as she said), and it may well have actually helped her; maybe she even figured that letting it be shown might help others too...
I've seen this one a few times and every time it still hits me the same way. I'm usually okay until it shows Jiu and the anguish on her, and all the other member faces. And I agree that it must have been really difficult for Yoohyeon to share this. She's by far the shyest of the group, often having herself blurred out in behind-the-scenes content if she's not fully "camera ready", but here she chose to show us at an incredibly vulnerable moment.
I am REALLY surprised that no InSomnia warned you about Episode Six... That's really weird because normally the fandom is full of very caring and trustworthy people who are quick to give warning about things like this. Somehow they did you dirty this time, which is really unlike the fandom in the greatest number of cases. I have not been to your patreon so I did not know that you were reacting to the series. I honestly would have given you a warning of some kind, either a straight-up Trigger Warning or at least a Tissue Warning, SOMETHING. I am truly amazed and astonished that nobody else did. I totally agree with you; Yoohyeon is VERY strong and VERY brave for having allowed this to air for everybody on Earth to see. I really hope that it does help millions of people who have experienced loss like this. She's awesome and so are the other members. I actually did not make it past the first thirty seconds of the video the first time I went to watch it because of events in my life. I had to be ready to watch something like this. I hate seeing my favorite people cry sad tears. Happy tears are different and fun or funny to see (like when they have won at shows, something to be greatly proud of and relieved about) but sadness? Nope. So it took me a good three weeks to watch this episode after it first aired. I had to be ready for it. Then of course I cried for her. I can't imagine such a HUGE loss at such a young age! That event really affected her entire life (with good reason). You can tell that all of the members knew about what happened to her Dad because they INSTANTLY got tears, even Dami (usually the most stoic one). They did not keep the camera on JiU's face. The camera showed everybody else crying but they kept it off of JiU for the most part. She had it really rough because as group leader, she shoulders so much for the group and tries to help them with ANYTHING and EVERYTHING they ask for. This is just another incident when she felt absolutely powerless to help her member in any way, literally nothing she could ever have done in order to help Yoohyeon. That itself is heartbreaking (aside from Yoohyeon's situation) because we know that JiU really tries so hard to be THAT leader. She's better than she thinks she is, just because she really does try that hard, she really is that much of a sweetheart. That is why we love her so much.
Thank you for your genuine reaction. Kudos to Yoohyeon for allowing us to see such a private part of her life.
