Cara Manes, Associate Curator, Department of Painting and Sculpture, Museum of Modern Art, New York, will discuss the six formative years Kelly spent living and working in Paris (1948 to 1954), and the ways in which this important period played a role in his longstanding relationship with MoMA.
About "Kelly &…" Lunchtime Lecture Series:
Launched in conjunction with the opening of Ellsworth Kelly’s “Austin” in 2018, this informal series explores interesting facets of Kelly’s practice, from his service in the Ghost Army during World War II to his postcard collages, a little-known, fascinating body of work.
All talks are held on Fridays at 12 noon in the Smith Building Capitol Room and are free with museum admission. Visitors are welcome to bring their lunch to the lecture.

Funding provided by the M.K. Hage Centennial Visiting Professorship in Fine Arts.
