    The contrast of you two enjoying your boat and those masked up customs officials...
    The quarantine changed so much for all of us. Being banished to a tropical island is not so bad! I’m sure you guys want to be moving along. Good job adapting and going with the flow.
    Great job making the best of it. We live on an amazing planet. You’ve done a great job documenting your adventures as you have explored it.

    Of all the boats on all of the channels I have seen, this is by far the best performer and the best set up, and now new sails as well, terrific.

    Love the way those new Rolly Tasker sails set, and the new tri-radial spinnaker is a thing of beauty for sure. Here in the States sails by North and Hood are generally considered tops, but I don't think the RTs would be any less. Cheers.

    So relieved you have found safe harbor in this harrowing storm, unlike any other in history. The new sails look stunningly beautiful. Love that waterfall and seeing a glimpse of life on your journey. You both looked melted before going into that creepy warehouse. In a world held captive by sickness, having access to provisions on a tropical island probably isn't the worst fate. Just think, no sailor in times past has had the journey you are both taking.

      Mike Hurley Unfortunately, where we are is far too risky, the locals have not been adhering to any of the Lockdown measures since the start of this, parties and BBQ’s in gardens with groups of people not from same household, visitors in and out of houses, no face coverings. Two nursing homes in village are rife with Covid and one person in the street died only last week of Covid. We feel safer staying where we are at the moment locked behind gates and only go out once a week to do the shopping which is not a good experience. Once we can get out and get back to Europe it will be much better, we can isolate ourselves from people much easier over there.

      @@SailingYachtFlorence Here's a question for all you fortunate folks that sail around the globe - how go you manage currency (money) when constantly changing countries? Must you always have to convert to local currency before you buy stuff, or are some major currencies, e.g. Pound, Euro ,USD, etc, accepted in many places? I assume that most of these small, remote islands have no banking system to convert curriencies. Also, do you have to wait 'til you reach a major country to withdraw funds from banks in your home countries? You guys have a great channel and are a sincere pleasure to watch. May our Lord bless and protect you.

Thank you for the kind offer but unless South Africa opens it's borders before the end of Aug which looks very unlikely, we will be heading back to Thailand and Malaysia for supplies when it's possible to do so with the plan of crossing the Indian next year. Hi Florencians, another great video! I'm curious what your thoughts are on light wind sails - why go with a traditional A-Symetric on a sock over a Code-0 on a removable furler? Is the A-Sym that much better downwind?

    • @SailingYachtFlorence
      @SailingYachtFlorence  4 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      A Code-0 would require a lot of other rig changes (and expense) to fit one to Florence and we feel that the routes we choose (normally downwind trade winds) are more suited to a downwind spinnaker. That's not to say there have not been times we would have liked a Code-0, particularly in the lighter winds we have experienced in SE Asia.

    And another marvellous video, many thanks! I would be grateful for information on a couple of things; firstly, what cameras do you use for your videos please? The quality is brilliant, and secondly in this regard, what editing software do you have? On a broader note, how have you dealt with insurance cover for your travels please, both for the yacht and yourselves? My yacht broker goes pale if I suggest going anywhere other than european west coast! My best wishes to you both.

      Episode 45 - Sailing Moreton Bay shows most of our camera gear. Since then with the support of our Patreons we have upgraded our gopro and bought the Mavic Air drone. We use Movie Studio to edit but more because it's what we had rather than anything else. Insurance for ourselves is now near impossible and for Florence increasingly difficult. Unfortunately the insurance headache just gets bigger the further you go and longer you go for. Best of luck.

      y-yacht at the moment but we always shop around. It is ridiculously expensive and doesn't really cover us unless we sink as there are so many exclusions, but to visit some places you have to have insurance. We also had problems with some companies stating Florence was not of high enough value to insure. Topsail and Pantanius are the big boys in the circumnavigation insurance world but they also charge big boy prices.

    How odd to ask you to leave after a week. Fresh arrival? But after a week? Or not simply asking/requiring you to stay aboard and not come ashore. Seems a fear rather than logic reason, but had friends crossing the Pacific at the same time who faced problems of nowhere allowing them in as they came across

    Hi guys, absolutely love your videos, but just one little thing that is a bit annoying, your background music though of good taste, gets a bit too loud. Could it be turned down a bit. Ta happy sailing.

    So I'm enjoying your latest video, coveting your boat and lifestyle, and looking for Oyster Heritage 37's for sale. I see on boatersresources.com a boat named Florence! Are you selling your boat!? What's the story?

    Insane fear makes polititians do really stupid things. Kick you out after they checked you and you were quarantined on your boat ?? What?? !
    This has been very eye opening.
