What a superb re-harmonisation of any already amazing song. Once again, this could well be THE definitive version of this song, thanks to Dianne's amazing voice and interpretation and wonderful musicians, especially the pianist. The Maud Maggart/Jamie Cullum version is great, too - very evocative - but for my 'Desert Island Disk' choice, this is it. I can (and do) listen to this over and over again, and I never tire of it.
Dianne’s vocalization is breathtaking and so full of emotion and authenticity. The piano accompaniment just added that right touch to make this rendition a truly great memorable experience. Thank you so much.
I love all that i have heard Dianne sing, i love her Tone, Picth , Articulation of delivery of every word she so graciously lets so easily roll of her throaty lingering voice, to me she's definitely got a lot a lot going on.❤️🌻❤️🌻❤️
WOW! What a control this lady have. She’s just like an instrument. And i fall in love, without defense. Skylark will be played on my funeral, for sure. God bless this lady, although she’s already blessed!❤️
Magnificent, astonishing. This woman sings from the deep of her heart and feelings.Only the true singers and musicians can do that. All the instruments are engaged with her voice in a perfect way and tempo.
One of the greatest jazz singers of all time singing the most exquisite rendition of an already exquisite song, helped in no small measure by a great arrangement (with some re-harmonisation) and great playing from the pianist in particular. Timeless.
Hats off to Hoagy and Mercer for a truly lovely, winsome Jazz tune. So beautifully performed by Dianne and her brilliant empathetic accompanists. Thank you all.
I've been listening to this concert so many times. Thanks so much for sharing this video. Soothing. Dianne Reeves is still my favorite contemporary female singer. Thrills, soul, spiritual healing music.
3 months I have listened to this soothing song almost every night as I go to sleep and will continue to do so for indefinitely. I relate deeply to the lyrics. Dianne, Peter and band have amazing talents performing an exceptional rendition of this song.
Dazzzzling interpretation. Ive heard dozens of vocal versions but I think this is the best one. She sings with gusto and passion. Thanks for posting. Most enjoyable.
This is the song that reminds me of my mom. As hard as I try when I listen,I always cry… sad like a gadjo! Truly the best performance of this song ever and the most valuable moment when I revisit it. Bravo ❤
It's hard to find any classic American song so differently interpreted as Skylark. Maybe it's the mark of a great number that it can be given such diverse treatment and always come up trumps. This is, above all, a wistful song and Dianne and Peter got that down. Very nice indeed.
Dianne you go to my head, I caught her at the Toronto Jazz Festival 2014 She was great. She let everybody know who her man was...the cat playing guitar.
Skylark is like Amazing Grace--it would probably sound fabulous even on bagpipes! The icing on this cake it is the sultry Dianne Reeves Herself rendering the delivery . . .
Dianne is at her best when she has Peter Martin accompanying her on piano. He creates the perfect musical atmosphere with his virtuosity and sensitive arrangements. Here is another brilliant example of their ability to take things to a high artistic level: th-cam.com/video/NB_fCAObdX4/w-d-xo.html
I can’t express how much I have for as long as I first discovered this video LOVED this arrangement in words! THANKS for sharing! 💚 LOVE Ms. Reeves and the pianist. Question: The name of the pianist? Info? 🙏🏻
Skylark Have you anything to say to me? Won't you tell me where my love can be? Is there a meadow in the mist Where someone's waiting to be kissed? Skylark Have you seen a valley green with spring? Where my heart can go a journeying Over the shadows and the rain To a blossom covered lane And in your lonely flight Haven't you heard the music in the night? Wonderful music, faint as a will o' the wisp Crazy as a loon, sad as a gypsy serenading the moon Oh skylark I don't know if you can find these things But my heart is riding on your wings So if you see them anywhere Won't you lead me there? The best version is the one from Aretha Franklin. It was her favorite song and what led a gospel singer into pop music. Diane's may well be the best Jazz version. I have not heard all of them but this seems very hard to top.
What a gorgeous instrument.
She plays is so beautifully.
what beautiful rendition thankyou Ms. Reeves
Phenomenal voice and execution. Great piano!
Hermoso, bello! qué más se puede decir: Perfect & sentimental...

Adam Daudrich took the words out of my mouth. Incredible.

Maybe the best rendition of this song
Peter Martin on piano. Really sweet.
