Natabhairavi incites feelings of grandeur together with devotion ! It corresponds to the Asavari thaat of Hindustani music. Of course, it is known by a different name in the Muthuswami Dikshitar school of music., its Nariritigowla. While listening Natabhairavi, my mind goes to its famous janya ragam- Bhairavi which is more popular than the the janaka ragam, with D2 appearing as anya swaram in arohanam only. It has a very close resemblance with Ragam Mukhari (Kharaharapriya janya). Since it has more scope for elaboration; this get priority in cutchery circle and becomes a main item in concerts! (Here I should say that the Hindustani Bhairavi, but has no similarity, while it corresponds to the Todi in Carnatic! ). Bhairavi is supposed to fall under the same 'Kausikam pann' mentioned in ancient Tamil literature. It is considered an effective raga in music-therapy for treatment of colds, sinusitis, toothache etc. ; also for relief from cancer and Tuberculosis. At this time I am also reminded of a Thyagaraja Kriti in Bhairavi only..."Upacharamu Jesevaru"!!!..Of course, two more famous krities...the most popular..."Janani Mamava meye"( one of his navarathri krities) , a composition of Maharaja Swathi Thirunal !!! The other one is not a very popular but a class composition.."Sarva lokaika natham" on Lord Guruvayurappan by Sundara Narayana ( Naranankutty V.P.Menon), the prolific composer who hails from Irinjalakuda ( Thrissur Dist, Kerala) and was a devotee of Lord Guruvayuraappan. This class 'Papanasam' composition is sung so melodiously by the star vocalist Bombay jayashri ; The Charanam lines really mesmerizes....."mAmava sadA shivakumArA......Beautiful

@@kapilipisara . Hi Kapilipisara. Because the composer of this krithi, Sri Paapanaasam Sivan, has composed 95% of his compositions in Tamil, many people assume that this krithi is also in Tamil. In fact, even some websites, for example, Karnatic.com, has listed it as Tamil. But you are right, this particular krithi is in Sanskrit.
Especially the lyrics that is given and they sing many times vary. Many words are interpolated but no lyrics provided as per the video they sing it. It is the only drawback. But still Karnatic.com or sivakumar are not rectifying it with the options that happen into bracket in their lyrics online. Many slogams I have seen in the net they put the options happen into bracket. This helps listeners and slogam recites to be cautious when they are in a assembly to vouch as per the group. Today many could able to enjoy old stalwarts singing videos for the only reason that it's lyrics are available, as they understand the song. We need some attention in this. Also not all the saransms are sung but more time in aalapanai of their efficiency rather than for the full song. If they sing full song and take alapana for a charanam it is ok.
The great Bombay Jayasree was tutored by the legend Lalgudi Jayaraman&the accompanying violinist Sri Embar Kannan was from the ever great violinist Ms.Kanniakumari, who used to accompany on violin for the legend musician Smt.M.L.Vasanthakumari. No doubt, they excel in performances!
