I love how Aira is just writing her own fanfiction about everything that's going on. Girl is out here trying to be the main character of a Twilight novel and it's hilarious.
It's always great when a reactor can provide a perspective/information that most people without their specific background would not be able to recognize.
I'm definitely conditioned to watch THIS anime every Thursdays (as soon as it's released) and then to search my fave reactors quickly dropping their vids later the same day, only to grind the entire week just to do it all over again!!! Committed.
People have been shining the manga for a long time and now I know why. The absurdist comedy, the high concept fantasy, the grand adventure and the real emotion (both the mature and immature drama feel equally genuine). This already feels like a classic even though it's just starting. Man I hope the story is able to maintain this level.
Aira being the wrecking ball flying into the momo and okarun relationship is really fun. Her contrast with momo where, aira has few inhibitions but very little self awareness and momo has great self awareness but a lot of inhibitions is just great writing.

And Aira's Acro Silky form has ballerina touch in her moves. FYI: Aira wasn't a ballerina, Acro Silky human was. But because of the fusion, whenever Aira transforms, she moves and fights like a ballerina.
So a really cool detail I've noticed so far is that all of the yokai are traditionally animated and all the aliens are 3D animated. So Nessie is an alien.
I was going based on the color scheme - I guess it hasn't been consistent, but the aliens were blue (and greyscale), but the spirits have been red/pink (and maybe orange with boxing dude?)
@@drgnicefireit seems like each paranormal incident has its own color. And all of them are in the opening btw. About the CGI thing I was thinking the same but it seems like they go for the less animated ones (sumo and Nessie and crab) with CGI and the more detailed ones (turbo granny. Silky and now Mr shrimp) with 2D animation
That's not true at all, sorry. Nessie and the Flatwoods monsters were 3D, but so was the crab spirit for the most part. And the main aliens, the Serpoians, are 2D both in their disguises and out, and Mr Mantis Shrimp is 2D as well (unless that changes with his true form, but I doubt it), and he's an alien.
@@lucifermagne7458so you are correct, but I've read that they like to use more 3d for aliens because they are inhuman and draw yokais more because they are deeply human. But as you say it isn't an absolute - they also use 3d for a lot of very human moments (like the mother and daughter in EP 7)
I really liked the Nessie/godzilla looking creature in this episode it was kinda creepy but also dope. The sound design on its breath attack was dope as hell

It's amazing how this story has many stories within. Like the whole Aira having the misunderstanding is in anime of its own, she as the MC of her own little world. Insanely good writing. Same with Momo. Same with Ken. And so on . . .
FYI, the DDD official X has announced the Kensuke Ushio DDD OST for release on Dec 18. That's an OST that might just be my cruising soundtrack! They also announced Taito Toys release of a "transformed Okarun" figurine. Tamashii Web have Okarun and Momo non-transformed and chibi figures. I'll be in Tokyo for new years and will definitely check these out.
After last episode I was excited to see you react to Aira's transformation. She fights with Silky's hair and ballet/acrobatics, which I'm sure you'll appreciate.
Aira is great because she's just a beautiful idiot. She's not ill intentioned, she just literally thinks she's the main character and God's gift to the world. I know people are upset because she's disrupting the MomOkarun ship, but to be fair, they aren't dating and you can't blame Aira for shooting her shot, lol.
I'm confused by the colour tints here. So far it was the aliens, who had the blue and the yokai, who had the red or orange. But here, while initially everything has a blue tint, it switches to orange, once the boxer/Abba fan alien turns up. oO Is the implication that this boxer is actually a yokai, who either allies with the aliens, or is somehow controlled by them? With the dinosaur, the enviroment is also tinted blue, so is that an alien too, maybe one sent to keep Momo from interfering with their abduction of Ken? With Aira being in the OP with a partial skull mask, I expected her to get a transformation somewhat like Ken's, the moment Silkie told Momo to transfer her aura into Aira, so no surprise there for me. There is a fourth person in the OP, a boy... and we still have one golden ball missing. If I had to make a guess, it's this boy who picked up the ball and will become involved with the current three that way.
Having read the manga (no spoilers, don't worry) I think the color thing entirely depends on the individual character/yokai/alien. It doesn't really matter what "faction" they're a part of. And the boy, I won't say what his involvement is, but he's one of the best characters and his existence leads into one of the best arcs in the series. Which I hope is animated at the end of this season, instead of having to wait till next season, because it's soooooo good

I knew Arai's voice was familiar to me. She was Ochako's voice from Boku no Hero Academia and now she has the power of the mother like Okarun and yes the aliens are back, poor Okarun can’t catch a break and poor Momo thinks she’s being cheated on. 😂

If there's one thing I hate in any anime, TV show, movie, it's the trope of walking in on someone at exactly the wrong time. I just can't stomach it as a plot device :(
That's the best thing about Dandadan, is that this doesn't last long, it's not dragged on or anything. After this mini arc it's cleared up and everything goes back to how it normally is. No unnecessary Momo not believing him, no, they just clear it up like normal people
Something I do wonder: In the world of this show, are demons real? Ken believes in aliens and they are real, Momo believes in ghosts and they are real. If Aira believes in demons, are demons a real thing as well? If the first two can be, why couldn't the third one?
Depends on your definition I guess. Because Granny Seiko DID say "the gods of this land", which is telling, but also doesn't confirm what type of religion that would be tied to, if any. And we haven't seen any demons in the manga (at least none in the sense that Aira is thinking. We've seen plenty of ghosts that I'm sure you can make an argument for being demons)
It is easy to misunderstand them because they say "bananas"... The "bananas" they refer to are the reproductive organs, including male and female. They first attacked the Momo in order to solve the problem of their diminished reproductive capacity. However, when they saw the power of the Okarun and Momo, they changed their purpose to seeking "bananas" to gain that power. Therefore, Aira, who was not powerful at first, was not attacked, but Okarun became the target.
I am not quite there YET with Aira. I can see where this can go with her character and tbh, I am not entirely against a Okarun x Momo x Aira polyship. This really depends on how her character develops though and if/when mutual respect between the three happens.

She’s a gag character. Not a gag character but a character with a gag I should say. Take Bakugo from mha as an example. They gag on his aggression 90% of the time. Dandadan has a few of them actually. And more that are more in the plot than you would expect. Sometimes I feel like every character excluding Momo and Ken are gag characters with serious moments. In Aira case you either like her now or you pretty much won’t. Most of her character gags on taking different contexts on situations and being a bit of an innocent airhead.

Even in his moments where he obviously isn’t serious his aggression is seen as over the top and not to be taken seriously. I wasn’t trying to change you view just stating what is and what her character is. I don’t find Aira annoying but if you do, then you do. Some people don’t like characters because of the gag they portray. I never thought it was that serious especially when it’s obviously a gag.

I’m Japanese, but I really enjoy light-hearted and silly stories like this.

its a direct, nearly 1 to 1 reference to shin godzilla using it's atomic breath.
The "dinosaur" was already a clear Shin Godzilla homage in the manga, but god did they go beyond with the reference in the anime
