This is so brilliant!..I've just brought an expensive new 2 sofas. In less than 2 weeks they are sagging and uncomfortable. I'm furious!! 😡. I was looking at getting new foam but just came across this. Definitely going to do this!..thank you so much..🥰
Looks so much better, I need to reupholster my cushions as they've frayed now but it's a great frame shape and goes so nicely with my living room that I don't want to replace it.
Great video. I plan to do the very same to my daughter-in-law’s down couch. A trick I learned along time ago is to use a dry cleaners plastic bag and put your foam cushion in it with the fill on top. Then it’s easier to slide it into the cover. After inside just ripped the cleaners bag and remove it. Waalaa!!
This was a great video voice clear, good humor. I was actually looking for something else, but I watched your entire video. Good job! I applaud women taking care of their home. I’m a 68 year old grandmother and I’ve always fixed it myself!
Hello, how has it held up since? I'm watching this 11 months later and curious how it's held up since.... We bought a $1700.00 down sofa as well and I'm having the same issue.
Its held up pretty well! I did end up stuffing the rest of the polyfill in about 6 months later, but it was more to get rid of the rest of it than because the couch had sagged back to its pitiful pre-stuffed state. With that being said, I think the foam helped the most. I'd definitely recommend this diy.
This will last for a short time and that new cheap foam will flatten and you'll be right back where you began. I think you'd be better off getting some sofa slats that are made for this.
Sorry for the late response but, since I made the video the cushions are still much better than before I stuffed the couch. I did end up adding the rest of my polyfill in, about 10 months after I filmed this video, mostly to get rid of the excess polyfil, but also to refresh the couch. All in all, I'd say it is holding up very well and I am so glad I did it! Even before the refresh.
You can store the extra poly fill in one of those large plastic ziplock storage bags that have the vacuum hole for removing the extra air from the bag. Great way to store extra poly without taking up much space.
It being a down couch does not matter. I have a down couch, thick velvet slip cover which cost $8000 from North Carolina furniture craftsmen. Most couches today are JUNK. Even brands like pottery barn or elm Street. My velvet couch has been washed over 20x, and has lasted 24 years of 3 giant boys over 200lb, husband 200lb and 2 dogs. It's FINALLY sagging. But I don't want to part with it because the alternative is spending $3000 for junk that breaks down in 3 months! I'm husband is going to put new springs in. I'm going to get a new cushion of foam and pay for custom slip cover. Even if this costs under $500 still worth it.
This video was most definitely helpful. I was about to chuck my couch in the garbage! That beam against the back of my thighs was torture! Today I am steaming the stationary parts of the sofa. I will was my cushion covers again. And hope I'm happy once I do the foam and stuffing you suggest. Thanks so much!
I was planning on doing that originally, but there ended up being no room left after I put in the foam. I also found the furniture foam to be more sturdy, so I’m happy that I chose that, but you could just use polyfil for a little boost!
Here's an interesting thing I've just learned. I had the same problem as you describe, which looks awful and is not nice to sit on a saggy seat cushion. The thing is that after unzipping and removing the seat cover, the old filling can be put back in place, and is very comfortable. Sure, you need to put a luxury throw over the actual cushions that are sans cover, but it is surprising to find out that the fillings are still good to use - if you dispense with the outer covers (that you're packing with extra foam). It's that simple. However, I have paid an upholstery firm to put brand new top quality foam inside the zip open couch covers. And these will be ready in a few days, at a reasonable cost. (And I've not had to order foam online and struggle with cutting it up myself. So, just two alternatives mentioned here, if it helps anyone. Either do without the cover and use the filling with a sheet wrapped round it and a decorative throw on top, or pay a professional, not too much more than the cost of that foam in your link, and no offence, get all new foam into the bargain, professionally done.
Sorry! I have soooo much going on right now in my personal life, but I promise I will post soon 🤍 Thank you for watching, and being patient with me. I appreciate your support!

Totally unrelated question to this video but...do you still do the inversion method for hair growth and do you still believe that it works? Thank you so much 🙂

Oh my gosh thank you for this video! I was stressing over our new couch sagging so quickly! Will definitely be doing this to ours! ❤
I'm glad it was helpful! I was feeling the same way when ours started sagging. Good luck! ❤

Wow thats so smart! Thanks for sharing! I’ll definitely try that if I ever have to do this again 🥰
I did the plastic bag trick, but I didn’t rip it off. For the longest time, every time we sat on the couch it sounded like a big fart.
Replying so that I can come back to it when I need to
I made the same mistake thinking down feather couch was the way to go. BIG MISTAKE! Thanks for this video. 🥰

Hi Abigail. How are the sofa cushions holding up and how is the comfort level now that you have been sitting on them for a few months?

I use an electric carving knife. Cuts through the foam like butter!
Feather filled is cruel!

That’s a great idea!
White sofas look good but show all the dirt

Very creative. You're patient, positive and a problem-solver. Loved the video. Gives me something to think about. Thanks.
You can buy furniture fabric stain protection spray to prevent staining
This is just the fix I need for my sofa cushions. Thank you for this video!
Great tips ! I'm much more prepared to tackle my couch refresher after watching your video. Thanks !!
Glad I ran across your video. It was very helpful 😊.
You could just measure the foam and divide by 3.
You also could have covered the foam with a twin fitted sheet in same color as sofa tightening with large safety pins

I’m so glad it helped! 🥰 It’s made such a difference for us! Good luck ☺️☺️
How thick was the furniture foam you used?
So cool,?just the Visio I needed, thank you
Do you recommend using polyfil in the seat cushions too?

Kah chooo!!! 😢 feathers
This is so helpful! Thank you for making this!
Of course! I’m so glad it helped! I was literally on the verge of getting rid of my couch and buying a new one when I thought of furniture foam 😅
I need to do this to my couch
It was a GAME CHANGER

My sofa cushions are not removable. And they are sagging. Any way of fixing this?

Hello! Did you use the 3 inch foam or the 4 inch?
I used 3 inch (:
Nice 👏🏾
You did that!!
It wasn’t too hard! ☺️ I wrapped my kitchen in contact paper and it took me a collective 80 hours, so this project was a breeze 😂
It still looks terrible 😂
Why would anyone buy a down feather sofa or anything down. Do you know the cruelty involved in obtaining the feathers??? It's horrible!!
Yes ,horrible.
Hah those jeans! They’re terrible
Don't you have anything better to do then be a bully weird creep?
