- Entertainer Orville ‘Shaggy’ Burrell said he remains committed to raising funds for the Bustamante Hospital for Children while publicly pledging $100 million towards the expansion of the paediatric institution. The artiste on November 11, 2019 hosted a press conference at the facility to account for $100 million raised through his biennial Shaggy and Friends concert in 2018.

If he was dealing with the Hospital how did the Ministry of health get into it.? I thin he should just buy the Equipment and don't give them the cash.they just want the money. I just unsubscribe from the Gleaner and I encourage others to do so. I’m not Shaggy but I’m so ashamed. You folks didn’t have to print this article about him. After a days of upsetting the Jamaica people the Gleaner didn’t even issue an apology. We demand an apology!! I will never buy another paper from you folks . Such a disgrace man . I’m so hurt. This man is a brand ambassador for the country and this is thanks. Shaggy we love you.

Someone mentioned that Shaggy should build his own children's hospital, and that is a great idea. He has the money to easily make that happen with his influential wealthy friends. But, the Gleaner is not totally to blame. Problems like this will always happen when there is a lack of communication. Was all the specific details Shaggy provided at his press conference also shared by him or his trusted team beforehand with the hospital to avoid the hospital's confusion about the disbursement of funds from Shaggy & Friends' earnings? Probably not! So, the hospital provided the Gleaner with whatever information they had! Did Shaggy clearly make his case to the Gleaner Company when he was contacted on the matter prior to publishing the story, or did he brush them off owing to his busy schedule with the Disney live production? There is always two sides to every story but human nature tends for the public to always side with beloved popular personalities who they perceive as can't do absolutely no wrong!
Shaggy PLEASE keep up your work with the Busta Hospital; Jamaica, The Bustamante is the only Childrens Hospital in all of the West Indies Islands and any sick children from all the west Indies can avail themselves of the services at the Bustamante Hospital because Shaggy has help maked it the first world Childrens Hospital it is is with all its dedicated staff. All Jamaicans should at this time raliegh to the side of Shaggy and donate $1000.00 to the Bustamante Hospital cause to show that we stand solidly with Shaggy. Come on people be broud of the Gustamante Hospital and the work Shaggy has done and contribute your $1000.00 to support the hospital as a show of solidarity with Shaggy. COME PEOPLE. Hospital should be name shaggy and friends did allot more for Jamaica than Bustamante him self.
They needed an exploratory committee to assess the needs of the hospital...the infrastructure that is there or might not be there to supprt, and after the analysis then put together the fundraiser. An ICU requires space, alot of expensive equipment and the specialized staff to support and sustain this Unit, very expensive. The fundraiser was great but not effective as there needed to be a proper comprehensive analysis with an oversight committee and so much more.
Red tape and more red tape by time the committee done vote nothing gets done...
