One thing these stories show us is when a human rescues any animal and cares for them,especially from infancy, the animal never forgets.

i rescued a baby squirrel at 3 weeks old and he LOVED sleeping in my hoodie, he was such a sweet boy but at 8 weeks something got into his night pen (mom made me keep him outside in a box) and he was gone :'( i have some videos from my old phone posted on my channel but I'm sad hes gone but will always have the memories. the time I had with him though I was spoiling him like crazy. He was such a cutie

This needs goes to go out to all the people who think squirrels are nuisance pest. When given a chance they can love and show affection like any other animal. Always be kind to any animal. You never know who your next best friend will turn out to be! 💖
I think they would make great pets!, If not for the diseases they can carry, and the fact that there wild animals, and where I'm from they live in harsh conditions so there really unpredictable.
But other then that THERE CUUUTE
I have like 8 squirrels living in my roof, unconsentually they burrowed through the roof😂 now I hear scratching every night knowing there having an blast on that roof.
And there way too comfortable being around me lmao I would open the door, and they would just stare into my soul before running, and then come back with garbage in there hand😂
I have big parks were I live and I been feeding squirrels since April. I think that most people think of them as rats (they are not, but are in rodent family). I also notice that when some people walk their dogs, they encourage them to chase them up a tree for giggles and laughs. I don’t get mad at them dogs, but I get mad at their owners 😡

You can tell that the squirrel loves you. I rescue kittens because we have a lot of feral cats around the neighborhood so I am the designated kitten care person of the neighborhood along with my across the street neighbors.

My mom is retired and gets great satisfaction from feeding the squirrels. I can't imagine if she got them a food bell! They would be dinging it constantly and I bet she would give in! 🤣🤣
Jill's alarm saves lives. I feed my squirrels daily and when i see a hawk in the area i play it. Thanks to Jill it is enough to get them to all start barking and they are alerted to a threat in the area. Thank you sweet Jill!
It is best not to feed squirrels enless they are rescues. The food in nature has more nutrients and antioxidants and it is fresh. When squirrels get dependent on human treats they eat less of the foods they were intended to eat and fill up on lower quality foods. It is also better that they are not so friendly with humans as some consider squirrels to be a nuisance. When one or more humans feeds a squirrel they often approach other humans. While it is cute and fun to interact with squirrels keeping them out of harms way and healthy is better
@@starspangledwinner I would only feed squirrels the best quality food (if I did feed them, which I don't, because I put all my focus on my gerbils 😘) and wouldn't be like my one neighbor that I've scolded her before not to feed the squirrels junk. One time she even gave them potato chips. 🙈💩😑

She's so beautiful. As a wildlife rehabber, hearing a squirrel's barks and calls are my favorite part of the day.
Every morning I hear a squirrel in my backyard as I let the cat out. Squirrel: she did it again hey guys the cat is out I repeat the cat is OUT!
I moved further north last year and I no longer have grey squirrels around... I miss that bark.
But I do have red squirrels now, they are very cute little things.
A friendly Hello, Fangirl...Isn't this one of the sweetest rescues...I loved every minute of this story...Since you're a wildlife rehabber, can you speculate what might have caused Jill to make her "danger" calls...Since childhood, I've always had a special affinity for squirrels & chipmunks.. For a couple years I had a squirrel visit me daily anticipating his afternoon "snacks," & would stand on his hind legs & look for me through my big glass patio door if I wasn't already outside with his food...I fed him veggies (like carrots & turnips ) hard-boiled eggs, unsalted peanuts in the shell, bits of animal protein & fruit...He really loved fresh summer peaches & green grapes... *: )* You must have a very kind & loving soul to be involved with rehabbing wild animals...Sending you love & well wishes...Bless you!!! This is absolutely precious. I love squirrels and the special bond that you have with Jill is very touching. It really warms my heart. Ty for loving her, taking care of her and giving her the absolute best home she could ever have.
I feed around 10-15 wild squirrels everyday outside my house. They're amazing animals, inteligent and full of personality. People should respect them more and give them a chance to live a happy life.

Each squirrel is more adorable than the previous! I started feeding one, now i have 30! 🐿️💰🥜 When the peanut bowl is empty, they do the 🤡 in whichever window they see me, even if it's the 2nd floor... I will need a therapy to stop loving them that much... Crazy squirrel lady!

Squirrels can live for 20+ years; even up to 18 years in the wild. Wishing them decades together!
Not in my neighborhood
Max life span of a squirrel in it's natural environment is about 6 years, oldest recorded wild squirrel is 12 years but in ideal conditions with no predators, who knows, could be longer. But 20 years as a pet or in a zoo is very common. So let's hope for a nice long life for this beauty!
I didn’t know they lived so long. I thought 2-3 years as rats. Made me happy to know. When I was a child we had a squirrel at the bird feeder, my mother put nuts there for squirrel. 🇸🇪🇪🇪

Is possibly the sweetest thing I've ever seen
Speaking from experience: rescued squirrels are wonderful pets. They acclimate well to being with humans and, once grown, they can balance striking out on their own outside and still returning to the people who raised them from time to time. They enjoy climbing on people, and although they can learn to be gentle, their nails are very capable of breaking skin. Basically, your biggest concern with raising a rescue squirrel and then releasing it won't be saying goodbye, because you won't have to, and it won't be whether or not the squirrel can survive on its own. (It definitely can) It will be that your neighborhood now contains a squirrel that thinks humans are the bee's knees and may not understand that not every human is as kind as its parent(s).

Very well said and my Bonnie is a prime example of that EXCEPT from experience I found that squirrels are more like chihuahuas as they are more of a one person animal. They will love and listen to their "mommy" (whether it's a woman or a man) but be apprehensive of others. Bonnie will TOLERATE my friends and family but she won't let anyone do the things we do together. They can recognize look and sound, but most of all SMELL their person. At least that's just what I noticed raising my little squirrel Bonnie.
@@gabrield2038 you can potty train them and they will use a litter box but tbh squirrel poop is really tiny and dry. It looks a lot like a black nigella seed
Release them with foot collars on all 4 legs would be easy to know a domestic squirrel

Background music was just something heartouching. I had tears in my eyes, I don't know why. Maybe I am sad.
My wife and I brought a friend of ours so the two of them could get a full body massage at an Asian place in town. An hour later, the friend came out first and she was sobbing because of how good it felt. She said she had never been touched like that before, and that "it was so peaceful". It was her first massage at 56 years old. She's a good person but had grown up abused and had trouble because of it.

We took in a grey squirrel at 7-8 weeks & here we are two years later. She is the most amazing little loving rodent. She craves getting kisses & will kiss us back. When she gets what she wants, like back rubs or ear rubs, she will kiss us as a thank you. She gets along w our huge cat, grandmas dog, our bunnies & our birds. We dont recommend anyone have a squirrel as a pet cuz they require 24/7 care and expensive vet bills. Our girl has malocclusion so she is unable to be released. She is with us for the next 18+ years and we couldnt be happier
The coolest rodent in the entire world. I am surprised that squirrels have not been domesticated. They are super intelligent and trainable. Very beautiful video. Awesome bond too 👍
