Excellent video, and far more in-depth than I expected. As someone who was just trying to find out where to oil and grease the slide, I came away with knowledge on how to clean the whole FCU! Thanks a lot for making this video.
Thank you so much for all these fantastic videos. I never thought I would be taking guns apart, swapping triggers, taking out the fcu’s, etc but thanks to you not only am I doing it but I’m pretty good at it and most importantly I enjoy it. None of this would have been possible without these detailed and informative videos. You are doing a great service to the 2a community and I for one appreciate the hell out of it. Keep up the great work and again thank you!
Enjoy your videos! Just received my P320 from my son in law. Police issued so I went through it and upgraded it .. thanks for the videos! Just a shout out! Very well done!
Great video! Glad to see there is another person that cleans their guns after every range session. 👍🏻 BTW...started using Sig Spec 1 synthetic lube, it is a game changer!
I am new at the gun game and i found your video to be excellent. Very thorough and informative. When i clean mine i will definitely remember your video. Great choice on the gun. Love the custom work you did.
Excellent and extremely informative. I appreciate the time you took to demonstrate the nuances of gun cleaning. You obviously take very fine care of your firearms.
Im just starting out at square one with handguns, at age 64, and with Sig Sauers, so I have found your videos invaluable. Bought a P320 and next week will pick up a 365. All my best.
Maybe 1,500 rounds and I never removed the Holy Striker until tonight. Mostly put effort into the striker hole, cleaned out the carbon and got it all back together. Cycled a round through to test the extractor (with the slide not the trigger!) and all seems well. Thank you for the guidance. :-) I cleaned this gun a few days ago after shooing at the range, and tonight I put a whopping ten rounds through it. The rest of the range time was taken up with a P365XL that I was renting out. The 365XL is a nice shooter, but after shooting it my P320 compact felt almost recoiless. Wow.
Thanks for this great video. I have had good results with the Tetra Gun Cleaner in the past. I have also used Magna Lube green high temp Teflon grease for many yrs. It works great especially in high heat and/or fully automatic fire applications.
@SigGuy I still have my Sig Sauer M18, it has over 11,400 Roy ds though it with no problems whatsoever. I still think your guide on the Sig P320 is the best. Thanks for the video 😊
An eye opener for me was when you said that cleaning after every firing might be seen as 'excessive'. I clean mine every time, even if I've only run 100 rounds through it.
I really dislike Tetra ever since it caused my guns to rust. I've thrown 4 tubes in the trash. SIG used to send small samples of TW25B Grease with their new guns. But the X5 Legion I recently purchased included a small tube of Slip2000 instead. Anyway, my go to grease is Slide Glide and it seems to prevent wear better than most. I agree with you in that the Fire Control needs oil and the barrel and slide rails do better with grease.
lllottolll good to know sir. Thank you for sharing. Mine get cleaned regularly and that’s probably why I’ve never seen the rust issue. I’m assuming you greased and left it for a very long time. Correct?
Thanks for posting your very informative videos. Well done. I've clicked the thumbs up on every one I've watched. One small (and friendly) suggestion however. We all tend to move our hands as we talk to emphasize our points. When you're holding something in front of the camera for us to see, hold it still instead of shaking it as you talk. The shaking makes it very difficult to get a good look the part.
I just purchased my first handgun 3 weeks ago and bought a x5 legion. I took it to the range and put about 400 rounds through it. I'm not going to lie i was very nervous cleaning it and taking it apart for the first time. I watched this video like 10 times before I did and also watched it as I was cleaning it. Thank you so much for your step by step instruction. I'm not going to lie i had a hard time getting the take down lever back in but finally got it in. I am suscriber to your channel and love the content of it. I do have 1 question though the gun came with 2 springs i believe a 12 lb one and a 14lb one. Why would i use the 14lb spring over the 12? Again thank you for your video and your service to the country!
I have the same gun , I use the heavy spring because the slide is super sloppy with the orange spring. I believe it’s for competition shooting with lighter loads for faster cycling Edit: I’ve only shot 115 gr and the heavy spring has worked well 👍
Loved this video very informative thanks so much finally changed my grip mod and from watching this I like the apex did a spring job but it still feels mushy its better but mushy thanks again
I just wanted to thank you very much for such a very helpful and descriptive cleaning video!! I think this was the first video I watched on TH-cam after I bought my p320 6 weeks ago, book marked it and always come here for reference. The last time I cleaned my p320, I got brave and pulled the striker assembly and ejector & ejector rod to clean. Well today I bit the bullet and pulled the trigger, bar and slide catch apart also. Man what a difference it makes cleaning the FCU!! I probably won't take the trigger assembly apart every time but feel much better knowing how to do it now thanks to you. I am going to get the Apex trigger kit soon, looks like a nice upgrade for me. Oh just one question, do you leave the ejector and rod dry when you re-assemble them? Thanks again for a great channel and always look forward to a new video!!!
All excellent feedback! Nice work!!!! So much more satisfying when you can do it all yourself. So much cleaner and better maintained also. All those parts go back in dry. No lube needed. Thank you for the great compliment. I really appreciate it. 🤙🏼
@@SigGuy You are very welcome! I am so happy I found your channel, very helpful and you explain things so well, it makes jobs like these very easy. Oh I forgot to tell you thank you for your service. I read in a comment you were in the military and that ranks very high in my book. Just a FYI, I just ordered a P320 full size X-change kit (my current model is a compact) and the Apex flat trigger kit so I will be watching your Apex install video a few more times....lol. Seems pretty easy now after removing all the parts once. Thanks again for a great channel, appreciate it very much.
Olemil69 Hands-down this is got to be the best compliment I’ve ever gotten. Thank you very much brother! Means a lot to me. Follow up after your install let me know how much you love it!
@@SigGuy I'm glad it means a lot to you, you deserved it and I meant every word of it!! Oh YES I will update you on the trigger kit, in fact (my gotta have it now theory) I had it shipped express so hopefully it will be here Saturday. Keep up the good work and gotta love the Sig's!!
@@SigGuy Trigger installed! Thank God for priority express shipping. Feels pretty darn nice, hardly any take up at all!! I like the feel of the flat trigger over the stock for sure. Haven't actually shot it yet, only snap caps but maybe tomorrow I can. Thanks again for your great install video, made the job almost TOO easy. Enjoy the rest of your weekend. Oh looking forward to getting my pin alignment kit too......and my full size X-change kit monday!!
Are you using any CLP or any other cleaner on any of those FCU parts (including where the sear is, etc.), or are you just dry brushing and wiping everything down? I am taking a Sig armorer's class this summer, but based on older ones they said NOT to lubricate the sear assembly.
Hi, I had a questions from California...I bought a slide from Sig without a LCI... can I take the LCI off the slide the gun came with and put it on the new one? Tool suggestions? Your videos are great, thank you!
Hey, ive just got a order from brownells. I got the victory first p320 fullsize 9mm threaded barrel n a 80%. The barrel is pretty nice, says match grade in description. But haven't shot it yet. on sale for 91$..thats very cheap for a p320 barrel. Then brownells emailed me the day before 10$ off n free S/H. Going in RX slide, wanna put a compensator on it n make a "race" upper. For whatever division i can use it in. Have you use or heard anything about the victory first barrels?
all P320 striker is the same ??? I'm thinking of buying a full-size slide I want to know if the striker and the extractor case of a compact internally works on a full-size slid
Right. I was a mechanic in my previous life. Oil changes are so far and few now by the time the damage is done it’s too late. I saw it all day every day. Let’s save a couple hundred bucks on less frequent oil changes but will spend $10,000 when it’s time to get a new motor haha. Makes PERFECT sense.
Good vid bro tanks . Hey ummm my buddy had ( he called it) a competition spring in his Glock ? It was much easier to rack . What, where ,can I get one for my p320 x compact ? Please sir :)
Check out Mil-comm gun lubes Used on machine guns. Soaks into metal after a few heat cycles and makes gun easier to clean. I love this stuff. Great cleaning vid
Wow!! Very informative and much appreciated!! So I just got my P320, and admittedly, it’s my first firearm...would you recommend an extensive disassembly (like the frame assembly) to clean all the factory grease and crud out of it? Having never put any rounds through the 320, I wiped down (and later oiled) the barrel, recoil spring, and slide rails. Is it necessary to wipe down and oil/grease the frame assembly and disassemble the slide “fresh out the box”? I certainly respect your attention to detail and keep up the great work!
Matthew Muller I would say you have it all covered. Don’t worry about the other assembly lube you mentioned. You cleaned and lubed all the key points. Shoot the heck of it a few rimes. Then give it a good thorough cleaning and relube.
Sig Sauer Guy sweeeet thanks! I can’t wait to take it out to the range now. Also, one more question...I work in a lab and brought home some reagent grade alcohol (~70% ethanol) for miscellaneous cleaning around the home, and it dissolves carbon deposits on steel surfaces pretty effectively...you think that would be a sufficient solvent for cleaning my firearm when the time comes? The alcohol evaporates quickly and dry, so I’m thinkin it might work with GSR. I gotta do more research on what the solvents are chemically 🤔
Sig Sauer Guy yup that makes sense. I’ll let you know how it works! Could make for a good video...field cleaning on the fly with a bottle of whiskey or vodka 😂 just don’t want to make an expensive mistake either!
Hi Sig Guy. I just purchased an armor block, deluxe tool kit, and the tungsten rods. However, I ran into some vids about the accidental fire issues with the P320s in the past. Do you know if this applies to the XCompacts as well? I’m afraid to carry it now.
Is yours pre or post voluntary upgrade? If pre upgrade I would send it in to SIG and have the upgrade done to it. If post upgrade it’s already included in the production process. The problem is very old. It’s irrelevant now. It’s like the primer drag. Some things people just can’t let go. They added a disconnector to correct the problem. Striker can’t be released unless the trigger is actually pulled. The Trigger mass was also reduced. It’s good to go. Carry with confidence.
Hi, Do you ever have problem with P320 that the slide fail to go into full battery? I just bought P320 M18 Commemorative and mine have that issue. I only shot about 100 -120 round on it, and still have that issue. Do you know this issue and how to fix the problem? Appreciate your feedback.
I see you're p320 have a threaded barrel. are having cycling issue with suppressor on. I have a P320 M17 and M18 both having cycling issue with suppressor on.
So I do pretty much everything you do. However, when im cleaning my FCU and Stryker channel I spray remoil action cleaner on/in it , it removes any oil and leaves it extreemly dry (basically like a brake parts cleaner) , is it OK to do that , obviously I lube my fcu after but just in general is it OK to spray that stuff to remove the oils and left over solvents or is it going to harm anything , I do pretty much everything else the same as you do I just use a different brand grease
Although I do not use that particular product I’m sure it’ll be just fine. I have used their dry lube before. When it dries it is almost like a Teflon coating rather than greasy coating. As long as the striker channel is nice and dry and you’re good to go sir.
To me it depends on round count, how often you shoot and the environment. Personally I never do a “basic clean”. I disassembly everything except the items in the sear housing and clean thoroughly. Having many guns I’m never sure when they particular one will be shot again. That’s the for a thorough cleaning every time I come back from the range. I really just don’t know how long it’s going to sit in the safe and I would rather have it clean than dirty. I know others will perceive this as overkill and that’s fine to me. I just prefer to have everything I own properly maintained and in excellent working condition.
Brewtus Maximus it’s cerakote. Not bulletproof like he or anyone will tell you that also cerakotes. It’s going to wear off in areas that are prone to constant rubbing. Like holstering 100 times a day. Most people have way too much retention and this also causes wear. If you are looking for a mantel piece then put it in a glass case and put it up there. Don’t damage companies reputations because you don’t know much about the product.
Andres Bolivar for cerakote I use 313 Tactical (Sergio). For gunsmithing I use The Sig Armorer (Robert Burke). For crazy one of kind stuff I use Odin’s Workshop. This is the one that I just got back.... facebook.com/809690416068961/posts/935903510114317?sfns=mo
@@SigGuy i installed an armory craft adjustable trigger and +10% reset spring recently and I just sprayed the FCU with brake cleaner. I didn't have gun grease (will order) for the trigger parts but I put hoppe's lubricating oil all over the FCU after.
Oh bullshit..2 cleanings after 50k rounds. After a thousand rounds the guns are horribly dirty. I had a competition one weekend, n we practiced the evening before, then the following day i took some friends out n i put over 1k rounds threw my p320m17(sisusesX5..smh) that i use for uspsa. N it was disgustingly dirty...why would anyobe run a gun that dirty.. thats just hurting the gun, heat, carbon, n grim causes alot of friction.
Please never take this video down...I watch it literally every time I clean my 320.

Great video! Love learning how my 320 comes apart. However, what will the army do to clean the 320 in the field?
scotttraubitz basic field strip, wipe down, throw a bore brush through it and then lube it up I would imagine. Thank you for the compliment bud.
How do I find your video on how to take apart the FCU and reassemble

Also the grease..... I use tetra grease.
Thank you
Question could I use Shooters Choice Polymer Safe Quick Scrub on fire control unit, to clean? I'd remove it from frame! The oil back up! Thanks
Adan Saenz no idea. Never used the product.
How often do You recommend a basic clean and deep clean FCU and all? I saw the guy that’s only cleaned at 50k rounds, thought that was crazy.
@@SigGuy I’m hitting the range weekly and competitions every 2 times a month. Average 200 rounds a week.
Love the looks of this gun great look I want that info on where to get that look
DJBUZZ 999 this is who does most of my cerakote....
facebook.com/313tacticalcoatings/
Brewtus Maximus it’s cerakote. Not bulletproof like he or anyone will tell you that also cerakotes. It’s going to wear off in areas that are prone to constant rubbing. Like holstering 100 times a day. Most people have way too much retention and this also causes wear. If you are looking for a mantel piece then put it in a glass case and put it up there. Don’t damage companies reputations because you don’t know much about the product.
Love the vids but I'd never use a bore snake. You're just dragging the crap from the previous cleaning through the bore.
TheGoatMumbler clean your bore snake.
SIG SAUER GUY , QUESTION where do you send your gun to be costumize?
Andres Bolivar for cerakote I use 313 Tactical (Sergio). For gunsmithing I use The Sig Armorer (Robert Burke). For crazy one of kind stuff I use Odin’s Workshop. This is the one that I just got back....

He didn’t take the striker completely apart ??????
Is that a full size grip module?
Guy Mahmarian negative sir.
What’s your favorite trigger for the 365?
Armory Craft no question about it. Best built. Sexy AF.
Can I just spray it with brake clean?
I wouldn’t recommend using that stuff on anything except brakes.
@@SigGuy isn't it just alcohol?
@@SigGuy i installed an armory craft adjustable trigger and +10% reset spring recently and I just sprayed the FCU with brake cleaner. I didn't have gun grease (will order) for the trigger parts but I put hoppe's lubricating oil all over the FCU after.
Any idea if the p320 can shoot 9mm NATO?
Same process for the m18 320?
Yes sir. Same for all 320s
What a great fucking video
Who does your circoating thats my next step
First!!!!
Who else has a rusty P320 and doesn’t care?
Oh bullshit..2 cleanings after 50k rounds. After a thousand rounds the guns are horribly dirty. I had a competition one weekend, n we practiced the evening before, then the following day i took some friends out n i put over 1k rounds threw my p320m17(sisusesX5..smh) that i use for uspsa. N it was disgustingly dirty...why would anyobe run a gun that dirty.. thats just hurting the gun, heat, carbon, n grim causes alot of friction.
Have a new M18 and clean it after each range trip.
The shaking is really his mother annoying
Complaining about something that costs you NOTHING but benefits you is annoying. Go watch a different video.
