I heard, from my Sensei, that Singer Sewing-Machine Oil is just as good as the the traditional Japanese oils for an Iaito, whether aluminium-zinc alloy or steel.
So happy I found your channel. The nearest dojo to me is 6hrs away in northern Texas, so I am finding your content very helpful and engaging. Happy New Year!
I'm also happy that you found us as well! We have more if you are interested at our patreon page. Or just keep enjoying our TH-cam channel. Thanks do much homebee1 for reaching out. I wish you a happy new year as well!
Im honestly surprised mineral oil isn't recommended, I've used it on at least 20 different steel types with no ill results, doesn't really have a smell, doesn't dry out or rot, and if need be can be used as a laxative lol.
We actually drop the Mune onto the web of the hand , there is no contact with the actual saya on the outside. Many styles do this or a slight variation

First lesson for the year, good job thank you
I’ll practice noto. I too sometimes leave a little of saya exposed when I return the sword!!!
Happy new year 🙇. Thank you, there's always something new to learn from different perspectives 🙂
Absolutely, look for the similarities, not the differences and we will learn more.
Thanks for the comment.
Great teachings!
Thanks very much! Glad it helped!
Very good teaching. Notto is very beautiful if done well. 🙏🙏
Thank you!

Its fine just a bit to thick for me. Cool name you have btw
What about Gun Oil? Like good o' fashioned CLP?
Yes that's fine, some folks don't like the small. Actually what I use is a silicon gun rag. Works great amd you can keep it in your sword bag
How do you not cut you hand doing it like that ?
Practice my friend, Practice
Why do I see so many schools where everyone just drops the spine onto the koiguchi of the saya?
It's not just their beginners.
Is that a style issue?
