Maybe the calm before the storm. Maybe it’s a ticking time bomb or maybe the bomb is being defused... it’s up to us all collectively and personally. As it incubates for two weeks on anyone who has contracted it without any overt symptoms but all the while shedding, it’s bound to be in the community to be honest. Which is why the govt has moved to “stage two community transmission” even though there’s not really any sign of that. In two weeks if we have all resisted moving the virus around by stopping visiting fam and friends and protected our elderly by asking them to stay in them maybe we can all laugh at ourselves, but... tbh it is highly contagious. There will likely be outbreaks so more stringent lockdown will be likely... we need to not let it transmit from host to host, if it runs out of hosts then there’s only a certain time it can live outside the body without a host. Currently studies show it can live on wood plastic and chrome for 72 hours. So wipe down your grocery packaging, your Eftpos cards, your wallet, handbag, sanitise hands regularly and just avoid unnecessary social contact. Hopefully the stamp it out approach this govt is taking will mean we get off lighter than Italy and China and France etc

All the best for New Zealand in these tough times. It is hard for people when we can't go to gatherings but my tips for you guys is.
1. Find other ways to say hi that don't include hugs etc.
2. Wash your hands.
3. Don't go to large gatherings.
4. Don't panic. All panicking does is it creates anxiety between people and brings them apart socially.
The last thing we need is people panicking about the problem. We are a safe country and we need to look out for each other. Kia kaha, stay strong.
Unless we go into total lock down we could be another Italy and thousands could potentially die. Our leaders are playing a dangerous game ignoring the urgency to lock the country down. I have no confidence in Jacinda at all believing we can control the spread it has now spread out of control and hundreds will be infected by now.
We need much more testing of everyone with symptoms, not just those who have been overseas! Follow in the footsteps of Sth Korea.

Physical distancing??....schools are still open!!! I am very confused??? I teach at least 100 students a day in a school of 1500 students..How do I stop contact or reduce it??..Maybe teachers are immune?? Am I missing something here? Are we waiting for cases to get to a school so we close? Add to this, lack of hand sanitizes in classrooms...I am not sure if someone can explain me the reasoning behind this..because at this point, I really don´t understand. I support this government in so many decisions, but this one I am really unsure about.

We will be ok if we just do as is asked, that’s not move the virus around by unnecessarily visiting fam and friends. By asking ourselves is this trip, this task necessary?! Just for two weeks and we’ll know if we have indeed been ble to keep a lid on it. We are fortunate we have closed our borders early in comparison and we are not a highly populated country. Italy took measures but people were allowed to work and it was the big factory region that was their epicentre and people were daily crowding onto subway to go to work when their govt should have shut down those industries. We can act with foresight, we have been asked to work from home if possible, to deep clean our work places if we must work and so on. We have a good chance of managing this but we won’t be without outbreaks I’m sure

as a traveller currently stranded in NZ i can tell you have an amazing government. they're doing a great job, much better then a lot of other countries. if i can give one advice to other travellers in the same situation. Stay in Isolation, make sure you're not a carier, stop domestic travel and offer a helping hand. Support those who have welcomed us with open arms in their beautiful country. we all need to work together now.

First place to transmit the virus is supermarkets, everyone touches the same products, we are in level 2, country should lock down everything otherwise we are few days or weeks from Spain or Italy.
Then people will panic if they don't have access to food.

Why wait before its too late, I've taken my children out of school at the beginning of last week to help teach them social distancing. I have a sick mother at home, 17 of us under one roof, I apologise Jacinda Adern but I'm not taking any risks at all. You have allowed an entire cruise ship leave knowing that there were possible cases of covid 19 on board and at "level 2" you shouldve been on top of this and organise buses to collect these people and have them isolated to prevent yourselfs from having to try and track these people down and possibly help to stop the spread of this deadly disease. The number of cases are only going to esculate, look around the world! Why wait for a community out break to happen, do what's right and act now but be mindful of your neighbours and stop panic shopping. Stay hopeful Aotearoa and God be with us all.
