I was told coconut oil doesn’t do anything to moisturize hair but is great for your skin.
Hair dressers usually recommend olive oil, jojoba oil and stuff like that because instead of sitting on top of the hair the way coconut oil does, it penetrates the strands infusing moisture. But that is what I was told 😂

Coconut oil is bad for the skin. Large molecule size🙂clogs pores, and makes skin smell funky. Darker skinned people tolerate it well, they have different skin.

Jojoba is more of a finishing oil. Coconut oil does penetrate the hair shaft and helps prevent protein loss and strengthens.
Plenty of peer reviewed articles about which oils penetrate and which don’t or are most difficult to penetrate. Jojoba is a sealant most like our natural oil on our hair.

Coconut oil also has a hydrophobic effect, which means that it repels water. This effect may prevent the hair from absorbing water and dry it out over time. Therefore, although occasional use will help moisturize the hair, it is best not to use coconut oil as a long-term strategy.

When the cortex is damaged from factors such as heat, colourants, bleach the cuticle is raised. When the cuticle is raised the hair is brittle, prone to breakage, dry. When the hair is covered in oil. The cuticle is flattened but not only this, the oil also fills gaps and molecules which allow moisture to escape . May this be. Any sort of oil, this is why she recommends the cheapest one from (your cheapest),“local supermarket”. 🙄

I’ve never slept with it on just left it in my hair for a few hours throughout the day before showering. It actually will dry your hair out more if you have bleached hair (a bunch of my hair broke off when I was using coconut oil, and my hair was so dry)

Hair dresser here! Coconut oil, if used with the right texture, can have an awesome smoothing effect. Similar to silicones found in conditioners coconut oil creates a coating around the hair that makes it appear and feel smooth and shiny. Our hairs cuticle layer will only open and close based off of its ph level that can be dictated based off of what we put on and in our hair which is happiest at a range of 4.5-5.5. The ph level of coconut oil by itself is actually at a 7 which is at a damaging level for the hair. I personally always recommend something that has ingredients that are broken down to a molecular weight best suited for the hair and helps maintain a happy ph level for the hair 😊

    • @Debbs207
      @Debbs207 หลายเดือนก่อน

@@kaylacody8318 Your comment is clear proof that many hair dressers spout nonsense. They must not bother to teach basic chemistry in cosmetology school. The pH scale is only for substances that are water-based, hence the term "potential of Hydrogen". Oils do not have free hydrogen ions. Secondly, cuticles are always slightly "open" (technically raised, but that's semantics). So, water can still enter even if you apply coconut oil, but less than if it were not on the hair (this actually helps prevent too much swelling of the hair). Coconut oil's molecular structure allows it to easily penetrate the hair. The issue a lot of people have is that the temperature around them is too cold and the oil hardens. They should try mixing it with another oil to prevent it from solidifying.

So Kim to let you no
Bleached hair doesn’t take in oil it sits on top
That’s why u probs have to keep doing it
4 times a week if it was really getting into the the hair follicle it would work the 1st time
Your hair isn’t going to drink the oil that way
You need to start out with a deep moisturiser conditioner add
Raw aloe vera to it and that will give u more
Health oil can seal hair but it’s not going to moisturise it was because it’s not getting into the hair follicle

Than it clogs your drains getting it out. You need to buy fractional coconut oil which disolves in the drain. She may have not even done this.
