John Amos had one of the most intimidating stares in history.
Only Mike Tyson's stare at Peter McNeely can rival James Evans' stare!
James was the father all Black boys growing up in the ‘70s and ‘80s needed to become men.
John Amos was the rock of that family and when they stupidly killed him off the show was never the same
He killed himself off the show cause he wanted more money and more say so in the script!
Alot of black youth could use a father like this today!! 🖤
White ones too. Hell the whole god damn country needs a father figure like him.
Reminds me of my dad back then; not as big as james but was tall and a former amateur boxer..no one messed with him. And he was strict with us..best dad I could ever have hoped for.
Don't mess with James Evans, You don't WANT that smoke 😂😂😂😂😂
James was the whole reason I watched that show as a kid.
To me this sitcom was never quite the same after John Amos left.
Best tv dad in all of history👏🏾👊🏾
James came out and wasn't playing with these hoodlums
@jrag1000 Dude all he did was shove the guy. That wasn't really anything
It's ironic that John Amos was once a professional boxer in his life. That was the image and character that James Evans, a protective father, had.
@ajboss924 From what I remember, during the 1960s, Amos as a young man and before he started his acting career, decided to begin a career of boxing. He was so good at it that he eventually became a Golden Glove boxing champion. But he decided to give up that sport and attempt to pursuit a career in acting instead.
The father we needed but did not deserve 💯🙌🙌🙌 💪
The man had the best Dad stare ever! Someone getting their ass beat when that look flashes across a Dads face.
JJ was like the black gilligan 🤣🤣🤣
This is one reason why Black fathers are important to the African American Family!
reminds me of when I was probably ten and guy at the corner store (not sure of his age but I’m sure he was at least 17 or 18) slapped me and broke my glasses because I accidentally bumped him on the way in the door. My dad , who was a dock worker and not a small dude 😂 went back to the store with me. Guy who slapped me got all flustered and ended up apologizing to me in front of my dad. Will never forget that. RIP ❤️
I grew up in an upper middle class home but still growing up I had a father like him so this honestly speaks volumes to me
John Amos trying his best not to laugh.
@JM-mx8dr James Evans was one hell of a TV dad if not the best, And there were many.
The subtle side glances he gives JJ at the end is priceless.
Ha ha ha, JR. Got all tough when James came out LMAO😂
John Amos' stare could make the toughest SOB shit his pants.
Jj was always hilarious. He was my favorite character on the show. .
I wouldn't mess with James either.
My man needs a stunt double for that grab
James was a lot like my father, great protector and would lay down his life for his kids. God bless real black fathers!
James aka PAPA Bear to the RESCUE
People choose many different tv father figures but I always said James Evens was, for me, the strongest father in tv. Charles Ingalls (Little house on the prairie) is a close second.
@@henrycruz4966 I chose them because they would never belittle their wives, was the head of the house, and will whoop their kids if they started on the wrong path. They didn’t have much but kept the family together through it all.
If James Evans wasn't the portrait of the Daddy you wanted as Man of the House.....then you needed to be watching another Channel !
Grabbed him aggressive 😂
James was the man he finna lay hands
John Amos was a strong fatherly presence. I still remember the episode with Michaels bully coming to stay over. James made him a quick member of the family, by introducing the belt aka repercussions for misbehavior at the Evans home. As JJ put it, he got "The Big Mac." 😂😂😂
Mr. Amos was such a great actor. Lol ‘James’ was about to take care of business!!
That's back in the day when even bad boy youths had total respect for the elders.
I don’t believe that was respect, that was fear of getting their butts kicked.
@@TheCrazyMoparDude68 yeah but his point stands, the bad youths have no respect or fear now.
James giving JJ that sheepish "well son, you did your best" look. 😂😂
J.J. trying to act like Bootney Farnsworth 😂
We all wish for a father like James
Right on John Amos
And the moral of the story is. You need two parents in the home. Especially if you live in the ghetto. 👍🏾!
Great,actors🎉
everybody Gangsta till JAMES shows up.
How could he keep that straight face with jj actin a fool is priceless
That was like Mufasa protecting Simba from the hyenas.
One of the greatest TV fathers ever!
It was tough growing up in those times 💯
Huh!!!!! Huh!!!! Huh!!!!
- James Evans 💯
Ha! Then jj all of a sudden acting like he’s Ali standing behind James😅
I watched that show faithfully. I think we all did. DY-NO-MITE!
Need that type of father all across the nation
James the real deal.The goat
I still watch this show today
when James rose his voice my 5 year old but would pucker
Poppa James Evans always stood on business.
James had a thousand yard stare that would intimidate a man eating lion.
James WAS the show.
Gangs were rough back then, if James didn't step in he might have got yelled at again
“I guess I’ll just have a ‘jam sandwich’. Take 2 pieces of bread and JAM ‘em together!”
Dietary tip from James Evans Sr.
James Evans was one of the original, if not the original "Real Ones."
Great show! Shame real life can’t mimic this TV family!
Remember Norman Lear fired John Amos. 😮
I’m glad James came out their and Save JJ from them bullies James evans don’t play
He would kick your ass back then and he would kick it today
Pretty sure those 2 hoodlums peed themselves when they saw the scary stare of James Evans - best TV dad 👍
JJ holding up his fists and bouncing around like a fool afterwards 🤣
TOO DAG ON FUNNY 😁 😂 😀 😆 😂
After he left the show it wasn't the same
Right On! James lol
Too bad dad step in....JJ was just about to unleash KID DINO MITE....... you could see it in his eyes...😎
0:39 James to the rescue
13% been 13%’ing for years
😮Hey! man let's split... I saw that brother on ROOTS.
When they killed off James, they killed the show.
John Amos was a strong man. 💪
I remember him not only in this part, but also as a warrior in the movie Beastmaster (which was a ripoff of an Andre Norton book).
Don't mess around with James Evans.
The father was the best!
The scene in coming to America when he slips and falls is just hillarious Af
Poverty creates enemies out of friends
Those eyes did it. I was scared.
When the bull comes in you better run!!’
Classic stuff !!! TV was so much better back in the day. Go ahead with the boomer jokes, it’s all good.
Funny 😄
😂😂 how you begging him for money. Then grab him and say come on bum😂😂😂
FUN FACT: In real life, John Amos is only seven years older than Jimmy Walker.
When James died so did the show.
Killing off James Evans was the biggest mistake ever for Good Times. Show was never, ever the same afterwards.
💯💪🏿🦁
When they took John Amos off the show, the show went down hill and later on I stopped watching the show, because it just wasn't the same
That's when the show should have been renamed from 'GoodTimes' to 'BadTimes'!
This situation was Floridas fault too.
His daddy was looking like my daddy when he was about to make something bad happen to somebody. 😂. Now that I’m grown with my own family, I understand why men look that way.
The show declined rapidly without John Amos.
You don’t raise a family in the projects.
"James comes to JJs rescue" a preview of the 2025 Lakers.????
Bootney Farnsworth
😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂
😂😂
James was the epitome of what a father should be
And the silly way JJ was acting after He came to help was the only objection that he had. He wanted for JJ to be more intelligent. Because of the constructive input, they decided to fire John Amos by killing of James.
And as a husband as well
Need more James in this world.
@@texasrockshillcountry6574 exactly!!! even back then they didn't want to any strong black men portrayed..sickening
Carl and Keith would have ran
