Mirror's Edge Catalyst In 2024 Is Pretty Fun

- Mirror's Edge Catalyst is still a fun FPS parkour game that not many players tried. In the video today, we revisit this game and talk about how it holds up. If you haven't played the original Mirror's Edge yet, I highly recommend checking it out. Catalyst was the "reboot," sequel style game from DICE that put Faith Connors, the protagonist of Mirror's Edge, into an open world environment. While some of the missions are solid, the quality isn't as consistent as the original Mirror's Edge's level design. Still it's a fun game to revisit and return to. Thanks for watching! #mirrorsedgecatalyst #mirrorsedge

I looooved Mirrors Edge Catalyst when I played it. One of those gaming memories that was just pure fun, and I didn't think of the downsides. this is one of my comfort games. I just love running around in the world doing random tasks and finding new stuff I didn't know existed before. It's a great game and I hope they'll consider a sequel that addresses the issues
It is the sequel
@@ykmopopp3660 he's saying a sequel from this game
Time is a cruel joke
Crazy that it’s been 16 years almost since ME1
Not time, but people.
Also just to add to your video. Something that I feel is worth talking about is how different this game is to anything else on the market. We are saturated with grim, dark, futuristic / fantasy related games that they all begin to look the same. Both Mirrors Edge games really went against the norm on that front. It was a focus on bright city, somewhat grounded in reality gameplay. On top of that Solar Fields created, in my opinion, one of the best OST and sound design elements I have ever heard in a game. I myself have pulled apart a lot of the stems from the game files to see how it was done and its truly incredible how he designed music around this city scape. Every summer I crave to listen to his music while walking my city. Mirrors Edge is one of a kind. So i would suggest playing it for the experience and the ambience, there is nothing like it.
This is one of those games that should be considered a greatest of all time but isnt because the company that made it just threw it in the trash
I think the gameplay mechanics and overall ambiance of Catalyst were top notch. The idea behind this universe is fantastic. If they hire some good writers and figure out a good storyline they have a really solid game on their hands. Make more Mirror’s Edge! I’m sure people will try it out xx
Huge Mirror’s Edge fan! Really hope it’s not the end of the franchise either but I think it is… catalyst didn’t take off like I hoped it would. The puzzles and some of the main missions of catalyst were highlights to me. Got a little bored of free roaming faster than I thought I would though I will admit… something from catalyst was missing for me to make it near perfect. But a great game and you can get it for sooo cheap now!
I’m still so pissed this game never got the treatment it deserved. It felt so cheap compared to how I’m sure DICE wanted it to be
Always look back on mirrors Edge it was a fun game to get lost in for a few hours and even now graphically speaking it’s still very solid even the 1st one… definitely glad I got to experience these games… side note EVERY time I play the finals the mirrors edge map design vibes are SO heavy…
I refuse to consider this upload a coincidence after the Perfect Dark gameplay reveal.
It got the parkour vibes rolling
I would give anything for a third Mirror's Edge Game.
I don’t play this game but I’ve watched some walkthroughs, the aesthetic of this game is beautiful!
The games i played in 2024: mirrors edge+catalyst, Half-Life 2, GTA 4, tony hawk american wasteland, jet set radio future, minecradt and modded skyrim. Modern games just cannot compete.
They can not let this IP die.
Confession I played Catalyst but never finished it. I was too busy just parkouring around the environment. Definitely need to jump back into it.
Back in 2019, my dad bought an Xbox, and with the xbox, a group of games had been sent with it. One of them was Mirror's Edge: Catalyst. It's been my favourite game since :)
Played it and completed it 2 years ago was probably one of the games i enjoyed playing the most that year
Theres something about older games vibe and soul i cant explain it,
I still love this game. I don't care If it's not the same as the original and if the open world isn't perfectly executed. No other game has the same vibes, the same therapeutic effect of just running around and admiring the skyline. Such a cool game.
I love your review style man, very soothing!
Always nice seeing you posted. Thanks for highlighting the game and the fade with the music at the end was a good touch
I swear, I don't really get the hate the game got when released, it was fantastic!
When Catalyst came out, literally everybody shit on it and said it was the worst game ever.
And then, many years later, suddenly, it becomes a cult classic.
I've seen SO many games like that since the past 30 years.
People are weird.
I just got the game for 5 bucks yesterday. I think it's really dumb that you have to unlock moves that you had in the first game from the start, but oh well, it doesn't take that long to unlock the moves anyway. I unfortunately don't see EA being willing to make another Mirrors Edge. They are focused on soulless multiplayer games with the single intention of infinitely printing money. They are even going to start to push AI at some point, apparently, too, so I think creativity over there is dead
I was looking for a video like this nice review bro.
Game is good but the servers are down now.
One of the most fun I had in a game
Its just like people forgot about this good of a game as we dont have such Parkour games (1-2 exceptions) diying light was a completely different setting and I dint had that fun in both Assins creed and diyinglight
I hope for a thrid game, made by a game director with a vision for speedrunning and dramatic worldbuilding. Sinse there is nothing, i am currently writing a story that takes place in the world of mirrors edge. not about Faith tho.
I loved both Mirror's Edge games. But I personally don't think it really needs a sequel tbh
Like I think Catalyst still holds up to today's standards, graphically that is. I personally think EA should expand upon Catalyst. Add more gameplay features, new mechanics maybe? Add DLC stories thats a sequel to the main story but shorter. Cus I think the story of Mirror's Edge isn't really that deep, and doesn't need to be. And when the stretch it out to it almost basically being a full Catalyst sequel, I think that new problems might arise and I'm just not sure if I wanna see that.
Oh yeah, and also turn the online custom community build run trials again, I agree, we need that back.
Feels like yesterday when I played this game… holy
Shame the reviews killed it :(
I would love a sequel to the Mirror's Edge reboot that includes features like the ability to import guns, no collisions, ray tracing, and support for mods similar to Cyberpunk. If they implement AI conversations like in the Skyrim mod community, I would be hyped!
I beat catalyst 5 times and I think this was some of the most fun I've had in a video game in years
I've never touched the original though and I was thinking of buying it but I'm still not fully sure
I would say the movement feels more restrictive than Catalyst. So be prepared for that, but overall I prefer the first ME's city than Catalysts. It felt more real.
Give it a try, it's cheap on sales and short but very fun
Just beat Mirror's Edge Catalyst...to be honest I actually like catalyst as much as the original M.E. Despite of getting rid of the guns, there are still a lot of things to do in Catalyst. I will admit the side missions can be extremely difficult because of the timing which they should of work on it better. Other than that it isa still a fun open world game :)))) 👍
Should I play the original mirrors edge or catalyst first if I’ve never played them before?
Original
Got catalyst for a few bucks and it is onr hell of a game.
I still play it and have been playing it.
I cant believe i only found out about Catalyst after it got shut down.
Man I miss this game...
only 20 playthroughs? I thought everyone who played mirrors edge liked to speedrun it. i must have hundreds
i was happy with the flash version haha, 8 years i was...
Damn just finished the game for the first time, sucks they took off all the online features, I probably would’ve liked it more
What songs were used in this video? They fit well with the city of glass and I would like to add to my playlist.
I think I would be really cool if they remastered the first game or even this one and added a battle pass
Mirror's Edge Catalyst currently on offer $5, oferton!
I tried to get into Mirror's Edge games after playing Assassin's Creed 1 & 2 but I just couldn't. There's just no bloody kills and assassinations to complete the experience. :D
2:48 what's the background music
if someone is still here, I cant download the game on Xbox gamepass or the ea app. Help would be great
I could never 😂
is there a mirrors edge game that is in any way open world?
yeah..."Fun"
Combat was the worst part? The first game sucked cuz of the combat the new one? Combat is easily the inly rzn why i stuck with it.
